Your answer seems to be in conflict with what you state regarding, why you do this. You answer here, with why "you record videos" however on your channel your Just a guy that likes to make "your opinion" known, openly. Your quote that Sometimes" the truth" hurts, leads me to belive that attacking the act of persistently holding beliefs, opinions, virtues, feelings, qualities, or standards that you don't actually belive yourself , is wrong, and you are personally searching for a answer..Truth?
@Tommygunn480 I'm not following you. What exactly is the conflict? I like to make my opinion known and discuss those topics. It's not the only reason I do it, but it is one.
As to your corruption of what you think I think...you are projecting, maybe? I've found what appears to be the "answer"...and the "truth" behind that answer did hurt, but I had to face it. And anyone interested in looking at what I found is welcome, those that don't need not watch.

Are you just looking to “win” an argument or vent your negative emotions about religion and theism? If so, you need a new hobby and a fresh beer. Don Quixote was a long time ago. @Tommygunn480 A fresh beer sounds great...but I would not call any of this a "hobby." I enjoy the DISCUSSION (not debate)...if you really want to know why I record videos watch "Why Do I Do This?" where I explain that exact answer.
i disagree with that..imo people who are believers do no hold themselves accountable..at is like this, its ok it is in gods hands...oh this is going on in my life, doesnt matter ill just pray and give it too god and hope it goes away..that is not taking responsibility for your life
another way of looking at it is, "You just want to be a Xtian so you can sin all you want and just ask for forgiveness after". Atheists actually do hold themselves accountable for their actions. It's the Xtians who don't even try to be moral. They're always going on about how they're imperfect sinners but god's grace saves them. I can't claim that atheism makes you more moral but I've seen plenty of examples of xtianity making people immoral.
I agree with your assessment of this "common saying", and I believe your counterpoint about rejecting other faiths is also valid.
However, I believe that SOME people who deny the existence god or eternity do so (consciously or not) in order to better deal with the guilt that they would feel from living life a certain way. We all do this in one for or another. We want to justify (or feel justified) in our actions, so we rationalize.
just when it looked like we were making progress...
You actually think that people deny the existence of god to get out of the guilt of going against the god we supposedly believe in but say we don't and would somehow think that this would work?
Ok, let's try it on you...
YOU deny the existence of the Hindu gods because you don't want to be reincarnated. You are afraid of coming back as a dung beetle and therefore justify that you haven't satisfied the Hindu gods by simply denying they exist
Let me clarify. I agree with you that people don't deny a faith because they don't want to experience its taught consequences. Clearly this is absurd. If one disbelieves a faith because they fear the consequences of it, that would be expressing some sort of belief in it.
What I was saying was simply that there are some people who shy away from certain things because it makes them feel guilty. Example: belief aside, if reading the Upanishads made me feel guilty, I would refrain from reading.
your counter actually proved my point. I don't see why you thought you had a point.
What you don't seem to understand is that atheists don't believe in Zeus for the same reason you (if you are Christian) don't (typically)...we don't believe in Ra for the same reasons. We don't believe in Allah for the same reasons. We don't believe in Odin for the same reasons. The only one we don't agree with is about Christianity.
That'd be like if we met and you told you were studying for an occupation in the medical field [lets take Radiology]. And i told you i was studying inthe technological field [lets take Web design].
If you were to tell me "O you dont wanna study in the medical field becuz you dont want to go to skool for a long time" (whether that statement is true or not).
Would a logical retort be "Well you dont wanna study to be a doctor because you dont want to diagnose illnesses"
But the argument you gave don't equate to the arguments these christians give. They say, "you [atheists] refuse to believe in God because deep down you do not want to hold your life accountable to anybody." so basically, they're stating their hypothesis about why you dont want to believe in a God. Then you turn it around and counter by basically stating y a certain theist dont want to believe in another God, or form of God........does that counter seem logical to you?
Once, 99% of the world believed the world was flat. That didn't make it true either.
99% of you do not believe in god. 15% of the U.S. doesn't believe in god and that number is rapidly increasing.
This guy did not create his own kingdom. He just set up a website to post videos, the name is satire you obviously don't get. Only a person that believes in talking snakes, bushes, and ghosts would take that kingdom reference seriously. Good luck with your fairy tales. They're all you've got.
The belief that a cosmic jewish zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh, drink his blood and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master and savior, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree. makes perfect sense
Acually, Christians do want be reincarnated like Hindus. The apostles creed: "the resurrection of the body." Alot of Christians pray for daily enlightenment and meditate daily on Divine Mysterys similar to a buddist. Hope this clears up any confusion
Good for you putting this stuff out there KH. Its difficult to answer some of the counter arguments posed by theists - not due to their rationality but rather due to their innate stupidity. Keep it up and i wish I had the cojones to do such a thing.
Impossible for you to understand Christians. All you understand is religious ceremony and traditions made by men to try and impress each other. That is nothing. That is not Christianity. How many times do I have to tell people that if you do not know the very same Jesus Who died on a cross and later ascended into heaven, you are not a Christian at all? Christians know the living Jesus personally, not just practice a ceremony about Him. If you don't know the God Who you worship, examine yourself.
"How many times do I have to tell people that if you do not know the very same Jesus Who died on a cross and later ascended into heaven, you are not a Christian at all?"
Until you are blue in the face. You do NOT have the right to be so ARROGANT as to tell other people HOW THEY THINK and WHAT THEY SHOULD IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS.
How can they not like pirates??? Blows my mind that some will actually risk missing the opportunity to get to all those beer volcanoes and strippers in Heaven. Makes no sense to me.
Well, not all the validity is out of the argument. It's seriously the case in some people. I don't read minds, so I've had trouble making this argument.
This point puts it in a little more light. Not a very smart argument eh?
KH, I've got a question for you, - Do you think the nature of mankind is basically good(altruistic, loving, kind, etc.) or evil (self-centered, cruel, hateful, etc.)?
- If you chose the latter, What do you believe is the reason for this nature?
- If you chose the former, then why do we see the kind of actions from people that would seem to contradict such a belief?
- Blaming religion for mankind's troubles seems as simplistic as stating. "God did it", but it's just as commonly given.
I'm not suggesting that I know what your answer would be, all I'm saying that we too sometimes find less than satisfying answers coming from your side, but I don't assume you all think the same thoughts. The type of tangible evidence you demand allows you to avoid beliefs based on faith. Even the strongest Christian accepts that this is a sometimes a necessary element of belief. I wish you'd be just more objective in your comments lumping Christians together assuming our faith is solely blind.
i was ok until u sed blow up and muslim in the same sentence steriotype much probably cos u couldnt think of anything to go with that but the virgins alone would hve done, without being offensive but yeah the reason theists say all this shit is cos they cant comprehend why ppl don believe and think lyk they do!
it sounds asif this arguement is based around the 'work out why you dont beleive in zeus and you will work out why i dont beleive in your god' type arguement:P its always fun to turn theist arguements onto themselvesxD
I was working for an evangelical couple managing their guitar shop. I installed the internet on the computer (back when dialup was all there was) and somehow the wife found out and brought members of her church by while I was working to preach to me that the internet is the web of satan and being her store she wanted it off the computer now! A few weeks later they found out that they could make more money using the internet and wanted me to set up a web site. I laughed my ass off.
Christian: "You just don't wanna believe in God 'cos you don't wanna be accountable for your sinful lifestyle, your homosexuality, abortions..." etcetc.
I get this one a lot. I had it recently when I posted on one of Thunderf00t's videos. Some people just don't get it do they?
Actually, I think it's the opposite. By being totally dependent on myself for my survival, and having NO belief in an afterlife, I value my one and only life SIGNIFICANTLY more than a lot of Christians I've had the displeasure of knowing. And they are hypocrites about that, too. Given their belief that this a step away from Hell and the "real" life is on the other side of death, shouldn't they all strive to die young? I mean physically, not the deliberate death of their cognitive ability.
yeah youd think that all christians would be willing to die at an early age. If all they strive for is to die and not to live, maybe they should commit suicide?
No, I feel I have no choice BUT to be an atheist. It's not the conclusion I was told was true from birth. Yet it was an inevitable conclusion, if you obsess about it like I did and do your research. Religion is dangerous, or at leist theistic religions. "My God is bigger than Your God" is and has been the cause of a lot of wars. The god of the Christians is entirely to human to be the creator of everything.
:) I'm an anarchist. I see the governments as just another organized religion. Same basic goals (domination of the many by the few "elite"), same prejudices. They just substitute "society" or "State" for "God".
BTW, embargoes just about always lead to real wars while punishing those who had little or nothing to do with the original cassus belli.
I mean.. very basic things make me shudder the thought of anarchy..
Patents/copyrights- I should be rewarded if I invent something.. In a anarchy.. Would there be a reward if I invent something? Or could someone bigger(physically, in numbers, or $) reap the benifits by taking off with it?
The animals- How many animals would be extinct if you don't tell people, like my grandpa, that your only (legally) able to kill x amount of deer/fish?
Good video except for the Muslim thing. Generalizing the notion that in order to be muslim, you must blow yourself up and we'll get 72 virgins, which isnt mentioned in the Quran.
When a Christian pulls that crap on me - I say: "Well then I should stop believing in the IRS because I don't want to pay taxes. Hey, How about YOU stop believing in the IRS because you don't want to live by their rules." Does it make a DAMNED bit of sense to consciously CHOOSE not to believe in something because you don't want to follow its rules?
Christians believe in God because *they* don't want to be responsible for their sin. After all, Jesus covers for them regardless of how much they sin.
No, we ARE taking responsibilty for our sin, confessing it to God, repenting and turning away from that life. We're saved by GRACE a gift, but a gift that can be lost if we should embrace a life of sin once again. Jesus isn't decived by those that only pay lip service to piety.
Confessing it to God...that's how you take responsibility? That's absolutely amazing. You damned Christian peice of crap, what makes your religion so special? Of all the thousands of religions out there? Your "organized religion" is nothing but a CULT, that's how it began, and that's what it is!
Your not special enough to have a god, face it!
Can't you just appreciate the beauty and genius of nature and the universe without thinking some fairy made it look so pretty?
When it's a sin against God's desire for us, yes, we confess along with repentance that expresses a genuine desire to not sin again. Frankly, I care little about what a foul-mouthed miscreant such as yourself thinks of me. Your insults only prove your lack of intellect, civility and maturity. Judging by this, it's clear you know nothing about the faith and were SICK well before you ever read anything I wrote.
I want you to answer me this question. This question that no one, no priest that I've talked to, no filthy Christian I've argued with, has been able to answer:
Let me ASK YOU a question. Given that your FIRST comment to me was not only a personal attack and it's obvious that no matter what answer I give, you will NEVER believe, WHY should I waste my time with you? Maybe it's your custom to show your ass to people you disagree with, but I'll bet you rarely get a second chance to make a postive impression. Give me a good reason to respond to your question or stop wasting my time Skippy.
See? You people never want to question your own belief. Question it! Think about how irrelavent we are, just for ONE second and maybe you'll see the light. Think of how small you are compared to the universe, think of how much your REALLY mean to anyone! Nothing! Now answer the question, you sound like an intelligent Christian and I'm sure you can pull some answer out of your ass like every other one of you pathetic excuses for people do. Why is your religion(out of the 100's that exist)correct?
See WHAT? You're a friggin imbecile? I have no trouble answering questions from those who truly want to LEARN, but childish comments like yours aren't worth the effort it takes to explain things. You don't KNOW the first thing about me, if I HAVE or haven't questioned my belief. Try pullin' your head out of your ass, cause YOU'RE NOT hearing ME! Keep addressing me like this, you'll waiting for an answer. Right now, I wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.
You don't think I'm willing to learn? Teach me then! Tell me the answer to this question, that countless Christians have failed to answer! Or can you answer it? Does it go beyond your superstitious beliefs? Does it surpass the fairy tales of the Bible that you base your life on?
Frankly, NO, I don't think you're willing to learn, I think your goal is to be insulting and derisive against anyone of faith. But if you want an answer to this question, I will answer. But, it's NOT a simple two sentence ressponse. I'll do my best to condense it, but the 500 character limit is a people. It goes FAR beyond 'superstition'. Incidentally, a great many of those 'fairy tales' happen to have been prophecies that were proven historically true.
The fundamental ideas of a religion are either correct or they aren't correct. Nothing "makes" them so. It is a trick question, of course no one can answer it. Scientists offer proofs and observations that "make true" their theories, only to disagree on interpretations of the facts, and to toss out their own theories as new info comes in. Their ability to see is clouded. So is ours. But by the grace of God, the Bible makes a lot of sense to me. Ask for His help to understand it.
actually, christianity isnt a cult for one reason, cults are agressive towardspeople criticising them, the cathloic church isnt, however christianity has changed alot, todays christians wouldnt be recognised as christians if you went back to when it first started
reddinorulesyou are a hostile idiot aren't you? Christians don't think they are better of and by themselves -- we know we are dogs just like you! In fact the atheist must be self righteous to think he has no need of anyone and he is always right!
1)you are misrepresenting atheism. in fact as most atheists are converted theists they have already admitted one thing they got wrong.
2)we are not dogs. dogs are four legged furry things that like to bark. we are people, 2 legged (mostly) hairless things that like to play cards and make up invisible men in the sky.
3)atheists need people, 2 people in particular (their parents)
4)anyone that thinks they are always right is delusional, and that sort of certainty wont be found in free thinkers
Is this a threat? You come across as a muslim. If this is so, it is typical of the muslim mind set, to threaten anyone who says "islam isn't a religion of peace", with violence.
ComputerGeek...I didn't call ANYONE a terrorist. I used bad logic from a narrow view of a religion to expose the bad logic of narrow-minded people of why someone would NOT be religious. I will NOT take down the video and anyone that gets offended will have to GET OVER IT.
Besides, why would Christians argue that being Christian means being "held accountable" for one's sins?
I thought it meant being undeservedly *forgiven* for one's sins - isn't that what the whole crucifiction thing is supposed to be about? Didn't Jesus already pay for our sins?
All Christians have to do is believe and maybe get in a quick "sorry" on their deathbeds, and ZIP! up they go!
Oh, yes! Christianity innoculates people from bad behavior! Just ask Ted Haggard.
In fact, studies show agnostics and atheists are in general, far better behaved than believers (eg propotionately, a very low percentage of atheists/agnostics go to prison).
I don't recall that the study I saw broke it down by first-time offenders vs. recidivists. The point is, that the evidence points to atheists & agnostics as less likely to commit crimes in the first place.
Another study I read was very interesting. A sample of about 500 people answered questionaires about their lifestyles, political and religious beliefs.
They thought they were done but upon leaving the building, witnessed what they thought was an underclass class man having a heart attack. But he was an actor and there was an observer across the street, recording who attempted to help.
I think the great irony about the whole, "you don't want to be held accountable for your sins" is two fold, the reason to believe in god/Jesus, of course being to make sure all of your sins are forgiven, and you can get into heaven, and secondly, if they do commit a sin, they can blame the devil, meaning that they do not hold have themselves accountable for their own actions, because their own religion gives them so many outs.
I've gotten this reaction before too. The thing is, if there were actual EVIDENCE for any god, you would have to be crazy to just push it to the back of your mind so you could live it up, knowing that hell was waiting for you at the end. Besides, what about older atheists who have little interest in sex, or any other christian "sins"? Why don't they convert?
what's ironic was i subscribed to pat condell before i subscribed to KH, it was subscribing to one that lead me to find the other. I've watched more of KH's vids than pats though. (shrug) to each their own.
god i wish i had more than 2000 subscribers like kind heathen, but maybe KH should have 29000 subscribers like pat condell because KH does alot more videos than the occasional pat condell video, well maybe KH has less subscribers is because he stays more on the facts and pat condell gives people what they want (a joke). oh well heres hoping KH gets those 29k subscribers lol
Yes, atheists don't believe in a god so they can be evil, immoral, sinful creatures. My eyes are going to roll right out of their sockets. I want someone who actually believes that to throw a list of "sins" at me and see just how evil, immoral, and sinful I am. Then I want some of my friends and co-workers (good christian people) to see the list and see how they measure up. I bet their more "sinful" than I. But I guess believing in a god makes it okay?
a list of SINS? Please, I think you've already got a good idea of what qualifies. But I for one don't believe that one necessarily needs religion to live a relatively moral life, but WE ALL SIN, so don't go patting yourself on the back just yet...
Oh boy, another theistic contradiction. On the one hand we have the silly claim addressed here -- atheists choose not to believe in God so they will not be accountable for their sins -- and on the other we have Pascal's Wager by which they say that it is rational to choose to *believe* in God (as if that were possible) so that, just in case, we can avoid being held accountable for our sin of disbelief. Well, which way is it?
admit it KH,the only reason you do not believe in Odin is that you die in battle and spend all eternity drinking mead and roughhousing with your fellow warriors.
I get this with almost every person I trust enough to confide in, sadly enough.
Well, the variation that I generally get is "I know you're not a Christian because you don't want to follow the fundamentalists' rules (who of course aren't "real Christians"), but actually MY Jesus is more tolerant than that."
I think most people who identify with a religion (in America at least) really haven't lent critical thought to their religious convictions. It's as though there's a critical thought switch that automatically turns off when philosophical introspection rears its head.
For this I'm concerned because almost every conversation I enter with a theist starts out with a series of ridiculously idiotic statements that I must quash before we really have a legitimate discussion. FRUSTRATING...but also sad.
"The 'revolution' of both Heliocentricity and its offspring evolution have put science in the 'real dark ages' of our times."
Bwahahaha! That is a friggin' gem!
Oh, man, that really made my night! What was he thinking? Oh, wait, I better change that sentence... Why WASN'T he thinking? Holy science, that is just beautiful.....
Geocentrists that think the world doesn't revolve and comment on my videos: Aresthanas PawelKolasa greatdeception ornelas3830 Flat Earthers that comment on my videos: RoundEarthMyth flatEarthAstronomer Hollow Earthers that comment on my videos: scarysky hollow0rld And sadly, there are many more...
Maybe they like believing in God's punishments because they know that left up to their own devices, they would do these things and like to be subjected to top-down morality.
Like people that need to hear that reading someone's elses emails is actually, in fact, company policy resulting in termination if broken, instead of it just being an ethically abhorrent thing to do.
my former "friend" the born again xtian once said:
The reason New Orleans got wiped out was because of all the fags living there.
I replied: Was there a huge gay community there? I thought SanFran was the largest gay community in America, and even with the major Cali fault line running through there, they are still doing just fine.
he also said:
"Dime Bag" Darryl Abbot from Pantera was shot on stage because he sings negative angry music.
People around here just lie about me in order to have the administration throw me out of the dorm because obviously I am a threat to "normal" girls, somehow.
No one worth paying attention to would dog you for hiding your face, there are many legitimate reasons to be weary of putting your identity out here on youtube and we all know that.
A close family member of mine actually DID find my page, and it was super awkward for me, for a while I felt limited in what I could say.
But, in the end I decided fuck em if they can't take a joke ;)
funny that a christian-ilk would say something so hypocritical. don't they resort to their god because they can't handle reality as is?

Would a logical retort be "Well you dont wanna study to be a doctor because you dont want to diagnose illnesses"

But the argument you gave don't equate to the arguments these christians give. They say, "you [atheists] refuse to believe in God because deep down you do not want to hold your life accountable to anybody." so basically, they're stating their hypothesis about why you dont want to believe in a God. Then you turn it around and counter by basically stating y a certain theist dont want to believe in another God, or form of God........does that counter seem logical to you?
youngmallet 2 years ago
Once, 99% of the world believed the world was flat. That didn't make it true either.
99% of you do not believe in god. 15% of the U.S. doesn't believe in god and that number is rapidly increasing.
This guy did not create his own kingdom. He just set up a website to post videos, the name is satire you obviously don't get. Only a person that believes in talking snakes, bushes, and ghosts would take that kingdom reference seriously. Good luck with your fairy tales. They're all you've got.

"God did it", but it's just as commonly given.
broadjumper1 3 years ago
I'm not suggesting that I know what your answer would be, all I'm saying that we too sometimes find less than satisfying answers coming from your side, but I don't assume you all think the same thoughts. The type of tangible evidence you demand allows you to avoid beliefs based on faith. Even the strongest Christian accepts that this is a sometimes a necessary element of belief. I wish you'd be just more objective in your comments lumping Christians together assuming our faith is solely blind.

Sorry, I misunderstood you.
Kbiomech 3 years ago
Muh..
There probably would be still be wars.. it probably would b e more like "Our system of government is better then your system of government!"
(Like the vietnam war)
But at least they could no longer use religion in the wars such as "Those godless commies.."
Though purhaps "wars" would be fought with money... like refusing to buy from countries with poor human rights..
Muuh who knows.. As you can tell I am split :P
thefakeyeti 3 years ago
:) I'm an anarchist. I see the governments as just another organized religion. Same basic goals (domination of the many by the few "elite"), same prejudices. They just substitute "society" or "State" for "God".
BTW, embargoes just about always lead to real wars while punishing those who had little or nothing to do with the original cassus belli.
Kbiomech 3 years ago
Anarchist imo are equally deluded as religion..
Though this is my honest opinion, it brings me to a point. ANY thought process someone could just say "Oh that is just as bad as religion!"
If there is no government.. IMO there still would be laws and rules. Just vegilantes would be the ones enforcing them..
Also, the lack of government, is still some sort of system...
No offense, but I have yet to hear a good case for anarchy.
thefakeyeti 3 years ago
I mean.. very basic things make me shudder the thought of anarchy..
Remember the buffaloe?

Christians believe in God because *they* don't want to be responsible for their sin. After all, Jesus covers for them regardless of how much they sin.
wonderist 3 years ago
No, we ARE taking responsibilty for our sin, confessing it to God, repenting and turning away from that life. We're saved by GRACE a gift, but a gift that can be lost if we should embrace a life of sin once again. Jesus isn't decived by those that only pay lip service to piety.

I want you to answer me this question. This question that no one, no priest that I've talked to, no filthy Christian I've argued with, has been able to answer:
What makes your religion correct?
reddinorules 3 years ago
Let me ASK YOU a question. Given that your FIRST comment to me was not only a personal attack and it's obvious that no matter what answer I give, you will NEVER believe, WHY should I waste my time with you? Maybe it's your custom to show your ass to people you disagree with, but I'll bet you rarely get a second chance to make a postive impression. Give me a good reason to respond to your question or stop wasting my time Skippy.
broadjumper1 3 years ago
Why is your religion(out of the 100's that exist)correct?
reddinorules 3 years ago
Right now, I wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.
broadjumper1 3 years ago
You don't think I'm willing to learn? Teach me then! Tell me the answer to this question, that countless Christians have failed to answer! Or can you answer it? Does it go beyond your superstitious beliefs? Does it surpass the fairy tales of the Bible that you base your life on?
reddinorules 3 years ago
Frankly, NO, I don't think you're willing to learn, I think your goal is to be insulting and derisive against anyone of faith. But if you want an answer to this question, I will answer. But, it's NOT a simple two sentence ressponse. I'll do my best to condense it, but the 500 character limit is a people. It goes FAR beyond 'superstition'. Incidentally, a great many of those 'fairy tales' happen to have been prophecies that were proven historically true.
broadjumper1 3 years ago
The fundamental ideas of a religion are either correct or they aren't correct. Nothing "makes" them so. It is a trick question, of course no one can answer it. Scientists offer proofs and observations that "make true" their theories, only to disagree on interpretations of the facts, and to toss out their own theories as new info comes in. Their ability to see is clouded. So is ours. But by the grace of God, the Bible makes a lot of sense to me. Ask for His help to understand it.

Interesting - you see I think being an non-theist makes you accountable for all your actions. Otherwise your actions are either:
A) forgiven (repenting, confession, etc)
B) you've got someone to blame ("the lord works in mysterious ways")
C) Jesus already died for sins, so it's okay
As an atheist you have no one to blame but yourself. And there is no way out of it but dealing with your own consequences.
If anything, I would say being a non-theist is by far more challenging life.

EyeLean5280 3 years ago
Besides, why would Christians argue that being Christian means being "held accountable" for one's sins?
I thought it meant being undeservedly *forgiven* for one's sins - isn't that what the whole crucifiction thing is supposed to be about? Didn't Jesus already pay for our sins?
All Christians have to do is believe and maybe get in a quick "sorry" on their deathbeds, and ZIP! up they go!
EyeLean5280 3 years ago
Actually EyeLean, as a former christian, we are taught that Jesus died so we could have a way to be forgiven for our sins.

Oh, yes! Christianity innoculates people from bad behavior! Just ask Ted Haggard.
In fact, studies show agnostics and atheists are in general, far better behaved than believers (eg propotionately, a very low percentage of atheists/agnostics go to prison).

EyeLean5280 3 years ago
Ah, so it's theism that causes crime...thanks for the scientific analysis...
broadjumper1 3 years ago
I think the great irony about the whole, "you don't want to be held accountable for your sins" is two fold, the reason to believe in god/Jesus, of course being to make sure all of your sins are forgiven, and you can get into heaven, and secondly, if they do commit a sin, they can blame the devil, meaning that they do not hold have themselves accountable for their own actions, because their own religion gives them so many outs.
danifae84 3 years ago
I've gotten this reaction before too. The thing is, if there were actual EVIDENCE for any god, you would have to be crazy to just push it to the back of your mind so you could live it up, knowing that hell was waiting for you at the end. Besides, what about older atheists who have little interest in sex, or any other christian "sins"? Why don't they convert?

Yes, atheists don't believe in a god so they can be evil, immoral, sinful creatures. My eyes are going to roll right out of their sockets. I want someone who actually believes that to throw a list of "sins" at me and see just how evil, immoral, and sinful I am. Then I want some of my friends and co-workers (good christian people) to see the list and see how they measure up. I bet their more "sinful" than I. But I guess believing in a god makes it okay?
cjclifford 3 years ago
a list of SINS?

I think most people who identify with a religion (in America at least) really haven't lent critical thought to their religious convictions. It's as though there's a critical thought switch that automatically turns off when philosophical introspection rears its head.
For this I'm concerned because almost every conversation I enter with a theist starts out with a series of ridiculously idiotic statements that I must quash before we really have a legitimate discussion. FRUSTRATING...but also sad.

I replied: Was there a huge gay community there? I thought SanFran was the largest gay community in America, and even with the major Cali fault line running through there, they are still doing just fine.
he also said:
"Dime Bag" Darryl Abbot from Pantera was shot on stage because he sings negative angry music.
I replied: What about John Lennon?

onlywhenprovoked : "I replied: What about John Lennon?"
He didn't sing angry music, but I think your Christian friend would anyways object to the lyrics of "Imagine" :)

Oh god, I'm a negative angry lesbian metalhead. Gonna totally burn in hell.
Yeah, your "friend" sounds like a heartless monster. Or my mother.

hey, at least SOMEONE thinks I'm cool.
People around here just lie about me in order to have the administration throw me out of the dorm because obviously I am a threat to "normal" girls, somehow.
Or try to re-convert me. Dunno which is worse.
Definitely not bitter.

roostring, you should make videos, you sound like a strong personality, and hey, after all, this is like the land of the misfit toys. haha

I should, definitely. I've been thinking about it...maybe CaptainOrdinary style, bit hesitant about my face being out there.
You never know when someone will come after a nubile young girl and...tell my mom or something.

Funny...actually Seattle and New York have bigger gay communities than San Francisco. I guess Seattle has Mt Rainier and New York had the WTC.
Hey...gay communities are usually found in major metro areas, and all major metro areas have some sort of vulnerability.
I guess there will always be a reason to use "fags" or some other group as a scapegoat.
