Defo just as much or if not less lag than an iPhone! Customisable home screen is just immense and contacts info like fb and twitter as well as pics and SMS is a great idea.. I will get this Phoenix within the next couple of weeks without a second thought!

It seems like this phone is definitely better than other such things like the iPhone of the Blackberry. The text based settings menu seems like a better idea to me because so many people I know will look at an icon and go "what the hell is that supposed to be?" Lag (that's not even lag...) and text based menu seems like hardly a problem, I will definitely get this phone.

However, it doesn't comment on the fact that it's possible to replace the ROM and acheive better performance all around.

This also enables the use of the long-press on the home key to bring up the recently used apps, among other things.

So the Hero gets better and better all the time, as a lot of people are developing on the OS.

if you see the clock on the cell phone,it was 2:42 on start and at it ended at 3:09. It was on hard usage,screen was 90% on and WiFi on.

Battery is not realy that crap,but there are phones with better batteries.

hero is way better than the iphone. Iphone is old technology and Android is future of cell phones. BUT I recommend that you don't buy any new stuff for like 2 years forward, and then when the real cool, slim and better smart phones are here, buy it :) Coz if u buy now, u gonna regret that u didnt wait for the new ones :)

@Nissez0r you delete apps by going to settings , then applications, then manage applications, then click on the application you want to uninstall. Or you could go to the andoriod market and downlload the application called 'quick uninstaller' , i strongly reccomend this method cos it quicker but any method of uninstalling will do. i just got the hero and i must say it is amazing . im tired of hearing about the iphones and the blackberries, this phone is unique, and it does fit into my life. i love that its customizable and everything. it is laggy sometimes but i got the advanced task killer and it closes apps you currently arent using or wanna close, which makes it so much faster :)

Well this is the GSM Hero, the CDMA version doesn't have the chin so if you're on Sprint or if you're on Verizon (Droid Eris) you should be cool.

The touch screen only works with fingers so you cant accidently move icons :)

Actually, you need to hold an icon for a couple of seconds before you can move it so it's always locked and there is almost no way you can move/remove it by accident.

And yes, the lag issues have been fixed. Although you may experience some lag after you launch several apps simultaneously but this is a natural behaviour even with desktop PCs.

This is the European version, and the Sprint is more practical because it can work in the US. The European version uses GSM network.

WRONG! You can access the menu at any of the 7 screens by pressing the up button. Additionally you can multi-task and switch from app to app. When you hold down the home button, you can select any apps that are currently active.

BTW If you update your hero (i have updated with the MoDaCo ROM) it will have virtually NO LAG! Trust me!

Once updated, try going to Settings > Sound & Display and switch Aminmations on. COOL TRANSITIONS!

There really is no lag in Android once you learn how to use it. You can go to Setting/Applications/Manage Applications and clear the cache in an application. In addition, you can dowload TasKiller from the Market (free) and immediately stop any running applications.

One needs to be careful with some reviewers who are partial to certain platforms. This guy has consistently shown that he is partial to Windows Mobile.

The only reason people ever have a problem with devices like this, or complain of their speed is when they watch reviews like this where someone says its a problem. The average user who buys an android device knows nothing of lag or speed - they just appreciate the phone for what it does as opposed to what it could be doing.

Be thankful youre using an amazing device that does this. 10 years ago phones could barely text.

Web OS seems better than this pseudo multi-tasking. If there isn't a menu or screen showing you open apps and letting you switch easily then how is the device really multi-tasking? I suppose you can have audio playing in the background, but even the iPhone can do that and that phone certainly can't multi-task.

Phones carrying the Android OS really need to catch up to specs. Nothing about them really screams, "Buy me now."

I really like open-source software, and the Linux nature of Android appeals to my homebrew desires. But, WinMo phones are seriously killer, feature-wise, and open.

It will be interesting to see what the Sony Ericsson Xperia X 3 can do. Maybe, it will change the game, or, maybe, it will be far too expensive. Until its release, the Omnia II and Touch Pro2 are top on my list.
