can you tell me why you bought a hand-made guitar this expensive? is its tone better than famous brands' high-end guitars or does it look more beautiful?
as much as I love guitar (although I have learned just for 1.5 years) I still can't understand there still are guitars that cost so much like this :P
What a wonderful tuition~! Last time in Korea, I wanted to play this song. But at that time, I don't have extra time..T.T, Now I'm in Malaysia, I have Enogh time ^^...First I'll buy a new guitar, and as I see this video clip, I learn this song. Very good ~! ^^
In the opening, on the beginning chord, why do you do the light up stroke with your thumb pick? In my humble opinion, I think it sounds much softer by just using your finger.
Even with that, you play this really wonderfully man, great job and God Bless!
I use the thumb pick because it fattens up the bass and I like the 'zjing' you get when you lightly strum with a pick. I do agree that the song is better suited for bare fingers.
Oh no, lol, I totally agree with ya, I much more prefer a thumb pick or real pick, it gives a whole lot more palm control. Plus, I'm not good enough for bare fingers. But I simply just meant on that first chord I was talking about. That up stroke, I think it sounds alot sweeter if you use one of your fingers on that part. That's all I meant, but it's still just my humble opinion.
this is a good guitar player which means when someone leaves a comment on mistakes.. He is probably greatfull... personally I wish people were more honest and would critique me more!
Yes, your guitar sounds very nice...and your playing is just as nice. Commenters who give you crap about "mistakes" should put their fingerpicking where their mouth is. Not many can play as well as you...not me certainly, but I loved listening to you taking on a beautiful song and playing it so well! Great work...I loved it!
That sounded really nice. The only mistakes I even heard was a couple fret buzzes really. Real minor. Beautiful song. If I had an acoustic I'd learn it in a heart beat.
this genre is called "trova" you can search something here in youtube of this genre, search this tags: "fernando delgadillo" "silvio rodriguez quien fuera" you wont be disappointed
Heya Jazzinc, again, a very nice job indeed. This time you realy personalized it a lot. As from your other videos, you normaly play every note exactly as TE. So this arrangement is special. I have to say that I had to listen to it several times, as i am so used to the original version. So after listening to this one several times (and again!): its very nicely put: WELL DONE.
Very good. Which strings do you use ? Also. is this open g tuning ?
Cheers.

toilabuiducanh 1 year ago
@toilabuiducanh Well, these guitars were a lot less expensive back then. (we're talking almost 7 years ago).
But even then, it was more than say a Martin. And it was worth it, though we're talking Law of Diminishing Returns now.

can you tell me which strings (size and brand) that ryan uses on this model?
thanks,
lespaul49 1 year ago
@lespaul49 Kevin uses his own Ryan strings (made by d'addario) in a True Medium gauge.
The 1st, 2nd, and 6th strings are medium gauge and the inside strings 3-5 are from a light gauge
