This is actually Irish Dancing, it's not Riverdance, or tap dance. They are COMPLETELY different, trust me. I've been an Irish Dancer for 11 years now lol.
Does it really matter? Isn't it possible that it is Michael Flatley doing Irish stepdance and mixing different dance styles? Irish stepdance is like the mother of tap dance so who cares?
@sophiedance121 What? This is Irish dancing...You see that guy in the white shirt? That's Michael Flatley, he's The Lord of the Dance, which is irish dancing show. If your are a tap dancer, I think you would be able to notice the difference between tap and irish. This is clearly not tap. And if you still think it's tap, then look up riverdance which is the name of the show in the video.
This is Irish, but tap is a fusion dance of Irish jig & step dancing, English clogging, & African beats of drumming. Different creations and styles were constantly evolving. Example; torso hinged & bent over position, flat footed, knees bent and body free to move however (a lot of hoofers danced like this). Another very different example of style; danced on balls of feet, body lifted from rib cage, arms had set placements like ballet, body was stiff/controlled. (Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire) style.
i have been a tap dancer for 14 years and those of you that say american tap dancing is much better. you're idiots. this takes so much more skill and strength. the only MAJOR difference is that in irish dancing they don't move their upper body. i took a lesson or two in irish tap dancing and its very very difficult.
@angiebaby1992 I agree I'm taking classes right now in Irish dance and I use to do American tap and I find that it was much easier to learn. I saw Riverdance live last year and it's amazing to watch them perform
Guys this is riever dance or irish tapdance. How can u say only tapdance. I think amarican tapdance, which is dance in europe as well is like 100 times better and more interesting. Those irish are just so boring
@routex7044 its actually spelled Ceili (with the little accents ontop of the i's)... just saying.... (Im half Irish and Half Greek... but live/ born in the U.S.)
Note the taps on his shoes..... I'm just sayin'

@sophiedance121 I can see why you might have gotten it mixed up just watching Micheal Flatley, he's a little eccentric when he dances. haha.

@SweetEdelweiss09 because if you didn't know Irish dancing is a major influence on Tap dancing. You can see it. That's WHY.

@xxkawaiiXduquesnexx ur both stupid. The river dance is a version of tap dancing. "Offend the irish." Pfft, they offend themselves.
