  • AMEN! OVER & OVER & OVER never ending!! I love artists who challenge themselves to move & explore new pathways. FNM (& Patton-natch!), Talk Talk (check them out if you've never heard them-started out great popish new wave, ended up acid jazz), Joe Jackson, Kate Bush, Kat Powers, Bowie, John Hiatt. Fuck the industry standard making the same record 16times, find new places to explore & play in! Leave boring bullshit for the mtv/corporate crowd; I'll take the interesting artists every day! Peace!

  • Pura Elegancia, es Fantómas.

  • 4:23 to 4:28 Man what a pimp! lol

  • what song is playing in the background?

  • @poorscoobydoo Cape fear theme from the Directors cut album :)

  • He is a modern fucking Beethoven. Composing pieces of art like it's nothing.

  • I've only recently got into this guy (Faith No More) and he seems so different from all the other musicians i admire. The name slips my mind, but the italian language band (Mondo Cane?) i heard on the radio last night was incredibly cool! I look forward to delving into his huuuge back catalogue!

  • I want to touch his hair.

  • Leonardo DiCaprio's gay cousin.

  • @ScheisseDuBist i take it DiCaprio is the gay cousin? cause i know you're not talking about Patton

  • @ScheisseDuBist Dude, you should be honored to eat Patton's shit. Quit hating on a legend.

  • @LPJeetkunedo how could you forget 'the Dunn'?!

  • @mindbait ARGH. You're right. I feel stupid.

  • @LPJeetkunedo don't worry, his extreme awesomeness probably burned a dunn-shaped hole in your memory... it happens to everyone at some point

  • He looks like Dracula!

  • Mike Patton is the talentest and brilliant composer, hes'b the best only!!

  • I guess that if I see him one day, i'll pee in my pants!

Mike Patton is THE modern influence

  • I love him. I really do

  • whay do they pay composers?

  • So they don't end up going to jail and/or getting fined for copyright infringement.

  • My favorite thing to do on rainy days is to down a couple of low grade opiates and listen to Zappa and Mike Patton's projects. Something about a warm, fuzzy buzz and complete genius chases off the cold and depression of the rain.

  • @thegirl44 Goblin Girl! "Bleehh" hahaha

  • @mikeroephonics

    'Sup Buttercup?

  • @thegirl44....and its good for people like me who have an incredibly shitty life

  • @thegirl44 you can also get an awesome buzz off of high grade opiates, don't limit yourself, it would be a shame.

  • @aktion13f14

Spend way too many years NEEDING a buzz off of those high grade opiates, my friend, so I need to be careful now. Indeed, never limit yourself, but be smart about it, too.

  • @aktion13f14 touch'e :)

  • oh G-d Fuck me Fuck me ... he is a genius

  • what do you think Patton puts in his hair?

  • what ever!!!!

  • @korvidkrow96 Idiot.

  • what song is that at 2:39?

  • Comment removed

  • The Godfather. Its off The Director's Cut

  • What a guy.. Above all I like his attitude as an artist trying to create and not just repeat. Even if I don't like the outcome sometimes I still prefer that than listening to the same things over and over again. I wish the best for his record label, perhaps all musicians should create labels which they would control themselves and then better music would be published. It's a good thing there are still people like Patton.

  • hes so hot. and a brilliant fella.

  • he seems like such a nice guy cool interview thanks for the post :) laters!x

  • This is the same guy that did the sounds for the zombies in Left 4 Dead.

  • i know he did that for I Am Legend. Are you sure he also did Left 4 Dead

  • Yep, I'm sure. He's amazing at making monster noises!

  • haha, i didnt know that, i listened to mr bungle whilst playing that game... what a co-inky-dink

  • Mike Patton is a lunatic and a musical genius.

  • El concierto en méx con Zu fue el mejor!!!! este Sr. es la evolución musical en tiempos decadentes.

  • I'm guessing you've only heard Reign In Blood and Houdini from those bands, right?

  • Living legend, lol.

  • He is a great professional!

  • hellooooo nurse

  • Man, I NEED a new Fantomas album. Whos with me?

  • Last I heard there's a new fantomas album commin out in june or sometime during the summer... That'll probably change though what with the whole faith no more reunion though

  • Yeah I hear they're touring with the Chili Peppers. They'll probably cover "Give It Away".

  • LOL @ RHCP comment :)

  • Shut up Ciaran!!!! Fuck sake!! What?????

  • what? who? who's this?

  • I loved the vocals he did for björk's album "Medulla" He's genius!

  • Innovation. That is why he is legendary. The ability to create NEW vibes through every album and every track.

  • He's 41 and still got it!

  • fuck yeah!

  • oh he still looks good even he's in his late 30s

  • i want everything that comes out of mike patton. he's a wild genius. his talents will never cease to amaze. some people will just never get him, they need their music sterile & spoon-fed to them. never will they understand how his passion & experimentalism keeps him at the cutting edge in music as an art form

  • he looks like ed wood

  • well fantomas is kind of the musical equivalent of plan 9.... bungle is glen or glenda ha ha ha

  • @mindbait

I... found... a... pink angora sweater... ooooooooh

  • No, you suck balls. I won't bother explaining why, just ask your mother.

  • A mother joke. Ive never seen such a clever retort in all my life.

  • uh

    your father

didn't see that one coming, did ya?

  • Don't you have anything to do?

If you don't like Mike, what are you fucking doing here?

    Get a life!

  • its ok if you don't understand his creations...just don't hate or judge so negatively so fast.

  • if mike patton(vocallist,musician,voice actor&funny bastard)is a bag of shit,then what are you?

The trail a slug leaves behide it?

The afterbirth from a coupling between a retarded zoo keeper and female gorilla perhaps?

  • if he's a bag of shit with all his talent, you're less than a piece of shit worth to go inside that bag

  • Also if ya like videogames,Patton has a big voice acting role in The Darkness(Classic game)

    And Bionic commando(coming soon)

  • And he did the voices of the infected in Left 4 Dead. Cooh, huh.

  • yeah i heard, looks like a sweet game but my pc is crap & i don't want 2 pay microsoft extra money to play a game i would have already droped 50-60 bucks on!!!

  • The Darkness is from 2008. You can't really call it "Classic" :p

  • it was released in 2007 mate & i suppose ur right in the traditional sense but i feel its one of the better consoles fps games out there 4 the action & story elements,it was a bit short and had lots of annoying running around parts but the ww1 sections is where the 'Classic' comes in.

MGS4 was released last year and that game is already considered a 'Classic'by me,critics and developers so The Darkness shouldn't have too long to wait.

  • I liked the Darkness. Sure, it wasn't the best game around, but I enjoyed what I played of it. But maybe it was the Mike Patton aspect that made me like it more :D

  • Saw Fantomas last saturday, was right in front of Patton! And man he just gets better and better.

  • i saw taraf de haidouks on saturday, saw fantomas on the sunday "simply beautiful" was the icing on the cake. rumour says the new fantomas album is coming june/july 2009. reality suggests that it will get delayed for a year or two

  • That must have been amazing, I wonder how the new Fantomas album will be like. I'm guessing it won't be as mad as Suspended Animations, that album was so hard to digest but still very intense.

  • i dunno, i think fantomas + electronic could equal VERY FUCKING CRAZY.

but yeah suspended animation is possibly my favourite fantomas album and fantomas are one of my favourite bands... you do the math

  • i know what u mean, saw fantomas in dublin, front row!most unique gig i've ever seen and the best.

Just seeing the size of the drum kit/mega rig was awesome.

Patton without a doubt is the greatest vocalist ever in terms of technique & range.shame MR. BUNGLE are no more,Love that band too.

  • wow I thought I recognize his voice. he is from Faith no more. an other bands he fronted for. he is a genius in what I heard from Fantomas. I thought I heard him from somewhere. an kewl. unique an is an art on how he has the music. I was wandering where he went. kewl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah faith no more, mr bungle, lovage, peeping tom, fantomas, mondo cane, tomahawk, crudo etc etc... the guy is busy to be sure.

i like your picture/avatar richie, looks cool

  • waw I know it was a few groups he had going. but waw that many more. yup he is a genius in music. most of the time genius's are not liked for they are on another level of an idea that is only appreciated after they are long past away. but when alive they are handled as been too difficult to understand. anyway thank you for your comments. kewl ! your avatar is kewl too aswell.

  • It's as if I found the one true prophet of art!

  • "I consider ourselves long-term musicians" - Patton is like the godfather of modern music.

  • mike patton = legend, thats all i gotta say

  • then move to the nineties

  • Who here is going to ATP?

  • This is an excellent interview.

  • I think Mike Patton should make a movie.

  • a porno? ;p

  • That be one hell of a porno. You just have to call this number 6-6-6!

  • well yeah at least he'd have the soundtrack all ready to go, maybe a porno set to fantomas' first album?

  • Firecracker? he only acted, but still

  • Yeah and he was great in it. Unfortunatly he said he would never make a movie because he saw how long (ten years) it took to get Firecracker out. Shame, his movies would probably revolutionize the film industry.

  • Give the poor guy a break, he already revolutionized the music industry. IMOA he wasn't that great in Firecracker, he was very Pattonesque (and we all love him for it), but he is clearly not an actor. Great (but wierd) movie though and he was perfect for the part.

  • LOL True True. Well I look at it this way only Mike Patton could have played...well maybe Crispin Glover but no one else could have done that part that perfectly.

  • well, maybe David Schwimmer. I don't necessarily think Patton was perfect for the role(s). But I do think it was a perfect role for Patton.

  • MIKE CAN SING MAN, CAN SING!

  • the first 26 seconds really describe why so many people love Patton's work....

  • youre the best, and you are very right about the "consuming market".That what the music means, for some guys.just for make money...

  • Did I get it right? He didn't go to school or what? So what, would that have affected his music in any way? His talent and genius is not something one could 'learn' anywhere from... Mike Patton is musically perfect anyway... I can hardly imagine anything better than he does. That's my personal opinion...

  • he might not be the best of the singers, he might not be the best of the guitar players, but OH MY FUCKING GOD Mustaine Can write music in an epic way.

  • Mustaine's an amazing guitarist and he writes good music. But he really can't sing for shit.

  • confidence and arrogance are seperated by a fine line. Mike P has been successful, he owes nothing to anyone.

most fans don't get it, they think there are these unwritten rules that all musicians are buddies and are very humble, peaceful, however you want to describe it.

It's a business, people! Musicians do what they gotta do to get paid, and a lot of people in the industry are simply hire guns for talented composers like Mike P who shuffle from band to band.

  • yes, i totally agree with you.

  • what do you think his kids are like? if he has any, that is. i wonder what his family is like. like his mom and dad and whatnot.

  • if there's anyone out there who doesnt understand why patton does what he does...this is the perfect interview to answer any questions you may have about the many projects he takes on. really explains the mindset he takes with him when he goes about his business. good stuff.

  • I must say that he is an interesting person. Nice to listen to. I do not like the music that he "invents" but I respect it. :)

Keep it up Mike. I love you for being unique.

  • fantomas fuckin rocks man

  • i like patton especially with faith no more. but he seems to have a huuuuge ego hahahaha.

  • Almost all successful people have egos!! :)

  • just ask mustaine haha, a total asshole but hes a god! haha

  • hmm why?

  • well, obvioulsy you didnt understand the innuendo. Umm, because mustaine is a piece of shit. His music sucks fat hairy greasy dirty gay fuck balls. He is very simple and his "fans" are unfortunate short dicked small weak minded fools, who have a hard time spelling their name than appreciating music. You must completely miss the total point of all practices of existence if you have come to a conclusion praising mustaine.

Though, I'm not sure what your question specifically refers too.

  • he might not be the best of the singers, he might not be the best of the guitar players, but OH MY FUCKING GOD Mustaine Can write music in an epic way.

  • hahaha are you religious or what?

  • i did... whats going on around here?

    8^)

  • ALL people have egos. See - your ego tells you that you know the truth about successful people. But really, you dont know the single smallest simplest little insignificant fact about it at all :) - according to my fat full ego that is

  • huh? ..What part??

  • no specific part just like all the time. i'd have one too if i was him. i love him tho. oh and a big fuck u to all who rated my comment a thumbs down.

  • Maybe he just can't help it. I see a humbleness in him as well. He could just be a tad conflicted, you know....

  • i cant even remember what i first said haha

  • haha ~ Read upwards. Even though you're still Wrong! :cP

  • haha how can i be wrong? i read what i said to begin with. it's opinion haha. i love patton, but i think he has an ego.

  • it looks and sounds like being a syncro

  • dude some of mike pattons stuff is wierd. i dont know how he went from faith no more to like mr bungle and stuff. bungle and fantomas are just strange

  • he was in mr. bungle some time before faith no more.. and like he says, we don't need million bands which are completely the same and make the same record all the time. i like his work ;)

  • well i didnt know he was there before faith no more, thats kinda interesting. i like mike patton too but some of his stuff is a little off the wall for me lol

  • yeah, i think i know what you mean but he's still kinda special, i like people who are not afraid to be different, i guess :)

  • try tomahawk, lovage and peeping tom (if you haven't already) they're a bit less weird but all very cool!

  • these guys are musicians fu showw!!

  • whats the song playing at 3:20??

  • "the godfather"

track one off "the director's cut"

  • It is off Director's Cut - Fantomas CD, can't remember the name...awesome CD though.

  • is he indian? he don't like one, maybe a little, but more like italian...

  • italian yes.

quote of the year "Is Patton Indian?"

im sure he would love to know that thought exists

  • He's not italian. Ok, we say for native americans indians. Is it clear now?

  • i know he's not italian. he looks italian : yes! , he looks indian : no!

  • Actually he looks irish

  • he is chinese and declared buddhist.

  • aren't we all

  • Does Mike have Italian or Spanish blood? He looks like he does.

  • i don't think that's actually true, it was posted on wikipedia or imdb or something but it got taken down which suggests it was unsubstantiated. patton also BSs about his heritage, at one point he even said he was chinese!

  • wtf it's just the haircut, there are no rules for looking like italian or spanish, even they could be blond, who knows, or is everybody white and platinum blond in usa?

  • oooooh my god, he is so sexy!!! I want him:))

  • What's the name of the cd at the beginning of the video?

  • the cd cover that comes up is the self titled debut fantomas album (though some people assume that it's called "Amenaza Al Mundo" because of the words on the front, but it's not) the song playing underneath is 'cape fear' from fantomas' the director's cut album

  • Suspended Animation is a tribute to April, it's the month were Is my birthday, to be exactly it's the 4th, so the 4th track it's a tribute to me. :-)

  • It's good that Fantomas it's the first project of Patton that it's going to stay in it instead of leaving and going to other band, and lots of things that Patton says here I agree, like the vocals in normal rock overpasses the instrument and people always fucks with the vocals, and the guitar drums bass, keys? Well it's cool he noted that. and the thing that losts of bands sounds equally its absolutley right, lots of people think that they have talent, c'mon, stop daydreaming.

  • Mike Patton is one of a kind, truly amazing.

    I love him!

  • I learn why I love Mike Patton every time I hear him communicate in any form...every time.

  • Awesome... Love mike patton.. I wanted to lose my virginity with him.... Too late now!!! LOL!

  • woooooa, slow down. haha

  • there may still be time
