This song Is a tribute to all of us that was young and are now up In our year"s,Im almost 50 and I cant believe how fast my life has gone by,I remember the feeling of unstoppable, the sun was so warm and the sky so blue,my sweat on my young tanned skin and my long hair blowing In the summer breeze,I was like a rock,I still am In my memories, cherish your youth,If youre between 15 and 25 please live life to Its fullest and ask God to never take awy the memories of how you feel.I loved being young.
I had a dear friend who was a major league baseball umpire, he swore that Bob seeger wrote this about an umpire. He kind of took this song as his....R.I.P Durwood, miss u much
Geez, I haven't seen this video for 25 or 30 years, on 'Friday Night Videos'. I swore he was sitting there in a 55 T-bird. I think they re-released a Vette version after the Chevy campaign. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Chrysler version in a can somewhere -WoW.
my wife of 3 years is in hospital for now 2 days since she got cancer of the breast. even if she comes out ill never caress her the same way i have usually done ever again.. it makes me so sick im filing for divorce.. segers voice is comfort in my tough times
I come to this song everytime i feel like "The Weatherman", like when you think you achieved something, but the one you love is in the arms of someone else, your kids growin up in somebody elses house....I don't know like...no matter what you do, you can't be cool anymore.
@triunp i know what you mean, for me it's the same i love my women so much for more then 16 years now, we have a daughter together, but like you she is with someone else and it is killing me slowly from the inside out
@norberhuis1 once I heard a man said: "smoke, and you'll live 30 years less, Drink, and you'll live 15 years less........love someone who doesn't love ya, and you'll die every single single day of your life", I know how you feel man, peace
@triunp thx. my friend what you say is the truth, but i can't help it you know ,i can't fight the demons no longer, maybe it's time to take the final step............

My son and I are working together to build a shop to build all electric motorcycles and this song was playing once. He picked up my right hand and said granite then my left and said marble he then looked at me and said you aint nothing but stone daddy. I looked at him and said son who put the roof on there and he smiled I did daddy I said son you are my rock at times also. He was eleven then he is now twelve.
i grow up with bob seagr songs since i was 5years old for 35years now and i do miss my dad and my baby brother too and we all love bob segars songs and both of the is died. my dad died in 1997 and he been died sinces 15years until 2/16/2012,he willbe dead for16years and my baby brother deid on 12/29/2008 and he has been dead for 3years now and i really do miss them all the time.

@debmandicino My husband passed away on January 7. At his viewing on the 9th this song played whikle the picture collage showed him through the years. I will love and miss him but this song keeps him young and strong forever in my mind. Thank you for your concern.

I truly understand your words thanking him for being there to write your life. Here is hoping that your husband is comfortable and at peace during his final days. God bless you and your family.
@bhphotou Thank you, we are trying to keep going and Seger has been a constant companion. I miss my husband terribly. I go to see him everyday but today I put flowers on the grave. He will always be "my rock."
I'm 17 and I listen to all of Bob's music with my father. He says this is my song; it has meaning for me now and will 20 years from now when I'm looking back on all the good times we've had.
@dougmo31 you are a straight up homo if you don't agree with chevy using this great song to promote their great products you should start that hunk of shit you drive in your garage with the door closed and the windows down suck in some shitty vapors until life escapes your stupid ass you fucking douchebag!!!
@bluewater21456 they had to put this song in for their commericals CHEVY trucks blow. Plus their sales were down. Ford lasts longer n built alot better!
when i listen to this song i cry because it reminds me of my uncle who died on December 27th of 2007 from duchenes muscular dystrophy. This was his favorite song. you are gone but not forgotten. i love you and miss you uncle matt. i cant believe ypu left us almost 4 yrs ago.
God, this is so amazingly motivating. I am in the middle of an ugliness that is going to take courage and firmness in my faith and beliefs. Thank you Bob, for helping me through it. God Bless.
"20 years now, where'd they go... 20 years, I don't know..." Wow, was I really like one of the kids on the other side of the tracks? This is one of the most memory provoking songs I know. Life is such a vapor. Looking back on it, it doesn't really last that long, ya know?
@CodyMStubbs oh, play the mom card... figures. After what kind deliberation would one post a comment suggesting Bob Seger song to have a line like you suggested? my BF is a ford guy but when this song come on if were to gather we have to laugh......such a STUPID think to hate eachother for haha but my Chevy is older than his ford and runs better >.<
@TheBiggrizzly93 fORDSand CHEVY'S, America's past. When it was good to be young. No stencil foreign mini cars. Long beautiful Chevys and Fords to take to the drive-ins, both movies and hamburger drive ins. Awesome days. Like a rock, we knew what was, and what wasn't fun. No drugs. With the music like Bob Seger we were richer then anyone who didn't live it, could ever know. Pity
As we get older we should really listen to these lyrics. Don't forget your passions and still keep growing. If we don't give up we could feel this way until our last day on the earth . Bob Seager's words are very powerful and inspirational.
i graduated n 1986,like the inplies.(20 yrs ,where'd they go ,20 yrs idont know?) it is a told truth of how fast time goes bye,bye ,because it will never come bak no matter what u do.the whole of the song,is the way my life as unfolded, still i would not trade or change a thing,up or down this song helps put me back in prospective of life in everyday events,mr.seger,i thank u 4 this awesome song
When I was 18 I lived life to the limit and never thought I would reach 40. Kept it up at 40 and now at 58 this has become my theme song with a new goal and passion to make the next 20 years as good as the last 40.
The line 20 years... whered they go... man... i tell ya where they went...every one of them stand in the stone cold fact there is a god. I'm still here. There's your proof all you non believers... My dad has since became a great grandfather, i have grown into a man that lives this song, and all of Segars music... I love you Mammie n Grandaddy. Miss you something terrible, But i'll see you some day again.
ON the 16th of November,1991... i lost my Grand ma to the hand of a drunk driver, (my estranged father), and nearly lost my mother too. The 16 th will be 20 years... sitting here this morning this song came into my head. Segar is my all time fav... too long of a story there... but used to watch a pic disc vinyl record go round and round on a turn table when i was a baby... i'd say that's my daddy... cause they favored one another quite a bit i though, from a picture or 2 we still had of my dad.
Are you seeking truth? Search for "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then click on "The Present" to open it. What it says will blow your mind.
This is one of the first times I've read comments that weren't racist or bickering. THANK YOU, this is a good song and doesn't deserve to be slandered and have unrelated topics bantered about.
@Arbeedubya Well Seger wasn't talking about being in his 50's. In the lyrics he says "I was 18" then later on he says "20 years where'd they go" well he would have been 38 at that point in the story. The song is about being 38 and staring 40 in the face and the thoughts of aging. I'm about to turn 38 in december, I can relate!
When i was a kid, after the NY Giants beat Denver in the superbowl, the BBC in the UK ran a montage of Lawrence Taylor against this track. I've never forgotten it, it was brilliant.
this was my fathers favorite song, he was my rock, when he passed away i was lost and i still am, i wish i could hold him right now and tell him i love him and i miss him.. my heart feels heavy everytime i hear this song.. I love you dad , and i miss you .. Always remembering ... Ray.
I can remember when this song came out, i was about 22 and thought i could beat the world back with a stick, boy was i wrong, now i'm 52 and wish i could have those days back if only for only a day...
I can remember when this song came out, i was about 19 and thought i could beat the world back with a stick, boy was i wrong, now i'm 52 and wish i could have those days back if only for a day....
@Nightavenger2 I don´t know what a "Chevlerot" is but if you simply mistyped Chevrolet there then yes, they´re the same. Chevy is just a short name for Chevrolet. If you actually meant to spell "Chevlerot" then I don´t know what you mean. I Couldn´t find it on google either, sorry. :(
This song makes me picture my Chevy out in the driveway climbing up the side of a mountain like the ones in the commercial, however, with only a 6 cylinder, it would actually only be climbing pebbles instead.
He spans generations. I am 70 and been a fan for years. My sons introduced me to his music and I love his music. A true poet, musician and best of the best.
what happened to music like this? i am 51 yrs old,i grew up on Bob's badass music. there isnt another artist out there that can even come close to talent like this.
damn im damn near cryin ...... cause i remember the dream and damnit i lost it .. ok fools make fun of me yes alcohol had a minor part and im a native but dammit this song has givin me a reason to fight ... like a rock my friends .. if i have any out there
i love the message in the video. he was watching his past go by in between the train with him in his present state on the other side. i get chills when i listen to this
I'm a Seger fan from way back. This song has always been one of my favorites but the video, for me, gives it much more meaning. The time goes by so fast, so fast. Rock on Seger!

@denisjl100 Are Chevy, and Chevlerot one in the same company? 2001 Chevrolet Silverado commercial for a like a rock commercial on youtube.
Nightavenger2 3 months ago
@Nightavenger2 I don´t know what a "Chevlerot" is but if you simply mistyped Chevrolet there then yes, they´re the same. Chevy is just a short name for Chevrolet. If you actually meant to spell "Chevlerot" then I don´t know what you mean. I Couldn´t find it on google either, sorry. :(

This song makes me picture my Chevy out in the driveway climbing up the side of a mountain like the ones in the commercial, however, with only a 6 cylinder, it would actually only be climbing pebbles instead.
