You are completely in the wrong here. You start swearing at the car before you have even reached the roundabout & his entire vehicle is on it & starting to turn.
The broken white lines in front require you to stop if the road ahead is not clear? Well it's not so you should have stopped. Annoying as it may be it's a roundabout not a 'T' junction. You admit the conditions were not ideal so you should have adjusted your speed accordingly approaching a junction.
@greebo954 He wouldn't have done the same if I was in a car, so why think it's okay when I'm on a bike? I have priority from the right and he should take account of the speed I am approaching before entering the roundabout. As I have previously said, yes, I *could* have slowed a bit... but shouldn't have to really.
@sh4rkybloke You were approaching the round-about therefore you have to stop, there are broken white lines. You were wrong in this case since you have to stop before entering the roundabout.
@Christoff87 Errm, no... the broken white lines mean "give way" not "stop". Solid white line at a junction means stop. Priority is to traffic from the right.... in his case this means me on my bike.
@MitkoChan If a driver enters a roundabout and forces people approaching from the right to have to brake and/or take any avoiding action then they shouldn't have entered the roundabout as priority is for the person from the right. Doesn't matter that he was "already on the roundabout"... the law is pretty clear. I could have slowed a little, but shouldn't have to as priority is mine here.
I've watched the video many times and I come to the same conclusion as many other people in the comments. In this particular case there was a Steve Wonder, but that wasnt the taxi driver! Admit your mistake and move on.
@Cliffjumper24 No arguments from me, he was indeed on the roundabout first... it's just the way he slowed to check (briefly) and then just decided that as it was only a cyclist he would go anyway. If I'd been in a car I suspect he'd have braked to allow me to go, given the speed of approach and the wet road. Maybe I'm wrong in that assumption though.
The annoying bit was also that he turned away from me whilst doing the turn, blatantly to ignore me!
@Cliffjumper24 he does arrive first stops and at this point he should let traffic wit priority through , instead he bardges onto the roundabout , total loonatic this one.
im not sure about this one. don't you have give way to traffic already on the roundabout? the taxi was already negotiating the roundabout before you got there. correct me if im wrong :)
@tomashford You are indeed correct.. it was just that he didn't bother to brake to check for traffic from his right (which has priority) and once on the roundabout seemed to go slowly around it whilst trying desperately to NOT look at me.... thus I just magically disappear (somehow).
@tomashford actually, that's not correct... he did slow and see me, but decided to go ahead anyway as "it's only a cyclist"... rather annoying given my speed and the road conditions.
It was the fact that he saw me and still carried on... and then turned his head away (whilst still on the roundabout) so he didn't have to look at me getting close... fast.
No apology, no nothing... completely blanked me. It was obvious he had seen me and was avoiding eye contact!
Well, I know that in wet weather my brakes are about as good as a chocolate tea pot. They become really weak, and on thin tyres the last thing you want to do is have to swerve in wet weather.
I made a mistake on a mini roundabout this morn. I started to go when this lorry was nearly past thinking that there wouldn't be any one behind. Doh - I was wrong. At least I stopped and apoloised...she let me go first anyway :P
sh4rkybloke, could you give an approximate breakdown of 'idiots per mile'? It is difficult to tell if you ride hundreds of miles a month and encounter 1 or 2 idiots or what.
I do about 200 - 250 miles a month of commuting when I have my camera with me, and various amounts of extra rides when I don't.
Although most of my vids are of idiot drivers, they aren't actually all that common (well, not doing stuff that endangers me). Most of the stuff I can anticipate and account for... it's just that I shouldn't have to if they would concentrate/look properly.

He was already on the roundabout, you were going too fast. Simples.

Sorry, but with all respect, I have to agree with tomashford. :)
It looks to me like he was already at the roundabout as you approached it, so the right of way was his.
It was inconvenient to have to slow/stop, but legal nonetheless.

It doesn't really look like much in the video, but in that sort of weather stuff like that can be quite scarey!!
