  • Saw this in 2008 ,always reminds of the good times. The Group(libera)growing up well ,always respect them ,they ve brought so much happiness into peoples lives with this music.!!!

  • @coltmanneil Good to see someone like yourself who was aware of them back then. I used to LOVE hearing this come on, on Classic FM. Wish it was still around.

  • What I find the most interesting is the fact that the phrase "Make me as the apple of thine eye" has changed over the centuries into "making you the apple of my eye"

  • @Maryamiano90 Libera relaeases music under EMI's' classical section- but some of the effects and sounds are created for/by Libera- so its not exactly choral or classical.

  • Is the main soloist Stephen Geragthy here? This kid is amazing!

  • @desmondhammond yep that's Steven!

  • catholic preist dream video...... damn 64,322 watched this video must be the priests rewatching this after sunday mass lol

  • @angelsburningbright I have watched this vid many times and I'm not a priest, not even catholic and I am watching it on Tuesday. Also, a huge part of the Libera fanbase is from south eastern Asia.

    A hole in your theory?

  • @Maryamiano90 File under: Fabulous!

  • Steven has the most amazing voice :o

  • I pray while listening to Libera :)

  • bellisimo

  • good

  • note that the songs of the past (until 2005) are written in a much higher capacity than the boys now ... at this time shrinking: ((and that's a shame

  • This is so breathtakingly beautiful.

  • This is so breathtakingly beautiful.

  • My favorite song from my favorite Libera album. I still don't think they've topped "Luminosa" to this day. :D

  • The boy is Steven Geraghty.

  • I can see this being the song that was sung to Joseph when the angel warned him about Herod. Showing the young boys and all.

  • brilliant video...Libera are so unique in their music and performance. All their work is consistently great.

  • my favorite song ever......

  • The high pitched motif is overdone - appears in so many of their songs - time to put some character in their singing. Technically great but lacks musicianship - cannot compare with the old days of Paul Phoenix or even of the present number one young singer - Louis Alexander Desire.

    Taffyjeff

  • @windrider1824 It is difficult to tell but I would guess that the boy was either Christopher Robson or George Tarlton.

  • I miss you Heber... so much.... :( ....

  • i like this song as it is sung in latin well done libera

  • I still grieve for my mother who died 8 years ago from dreaded lung cancer. Sometimes you just need to put on some lovely angelic music and have a good cry. This is in my top 10 and i pray for the day that I meet my mother once again.

  • Who sings this solo?

  • This was the very best I play it all the time

  • everytime i hear this it sends shivers down my spine. It is such a joy to hear if you close your eyes and listen to it quite loud its like the whole song just whirls around you and takes you in truly a master piece .

  • Listening to Libera is good while doing homework. :)

  • @SomebodyLS doing that just now, insomnia is a JERK, Libera is the cure :)

  • Have the album, beautiful voices.. nothing more to say

  • actually, vespera means "an evening prayer"...

  • Stunning

  • i think this is one of my favorite Libera videos, even if i'm not too sure what's going on. lol. love Steven's solo.

  • This is absolutely stunning, beautiful, sublime, exquisite, heavenly and totally stunning...

I saw this for the first time on classic fm video channel too about 2 or 3 years ago, and fell in love with Libera there and then.

the boys voices bland so well and really chill you out, if you had a bad day, just listen to these gorgeous boys voices and totally unwind, relax and let the calming voices do there job...

    Ahh Pure bliss :0)x

  • ur soo right..u've put my exact thoughts in words

  • Thanks you for all your comments. I must say this piece seems to appear the most in Classic FM when compared to all other Libera piece and I can only think of one reason, it never gets old.

  • i remember that this was the first song i heard of libera and it is the song that made me fall it libera. i think it is one of their best songs.

  • Same here, a freind sent me this link and it was the 1st Linera song i ever heard and fell into libera. Love it! ^_^

  • I remember seeing this video on Classic fm tv and being blown away by the clarity of the voices and harmonies... Libera are wonderful, old boys go, new ones come along but still the essence of Libera remains... AND LIBERA ARE FANTASTIC :0)x

  • here here

  • thank you thank you thank you!! i honestly cannot thank you enough! I have been looking for this song for years, ever since i heard it in a classic fm interval. I actually cried when i realised i had found it! i find this piece of music to be one of the most amazing and beautifuly touching songs ever. Thank you for this :')

  • It is beautiful.

I must disagree, TangoR34, concerning your statement: "lyrics should be cheerful but they expressed it in depressing tone."

Songs of the evening do not require a "cheerful" tone, and rather than depressing, the tone seems encouraging, soothing--which would be quite appropriate for the evening.

Anyway, thanks for posting this :) It is one of my favorite songs.

  • This particular piece has a wonderful feel to it, and a sudden change of mood that is truly captivating. It first caught my attention on Classic FM tv, and i've been an avid follower ever since.... voca me is another fine example of their sublime work. Thank God for this sort of music, it leaves me feeling relaxed even in the most stressful of times. Rejoice!!

  • my fave libera song <3

  • classic fm album also has same

  • Try the Luminosa album. It has a light blue cover with a swan. Vespera is the first track.

  • Very nice song,

    They are supurb.

This song is used at the complence of the brevery in the Roman Catholic Church

  • Beautiful Song!

  • I didn't find the mood of this song depressing at all. I am moved by this music & I feel as though I am floating as I listen to it. Even though I am not of this faith, (I was raised Catholic, however) I can appreciate the beauty that is expressed. I like the video, as well, because of it's simplicity.

  • beauthiful

  • i sooo love this song

its the best song ever and i will always lov

    this song !!!

  • This song is absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! And the soloist's voice is so beautiful! :D

  • Candle I meant.

  • Yes, i favorited this one as the ending with Steven holding the cnadel was cut off in harvey 696.

  • Not nuts on the video. A tad pretentious if you will but a stunning version of a great song.

  • When I first saw this video, I didn't know how old it was, and I thought the boy 2:36 was Josh Madine! Now I realize it's too old...

3:26 is still my favorite part of this video, it's a beautiful visual, very emotionally engulfing. I really wish they'd do this live, in their 2008 DVD they didn't sing this song. I so wish they'd revive it, it's awesome!

  • on 2:36 he's like omg i cant believe you just did that

  • Should be Classical but my computer says its New Age...

  • @TangoR34 It's certainly not classical

  • @TangoR34 must be the synths

  • I first saw this about 5yrs ago on ClassicFM TV, my first time hearing of them, since then I've listen to this anytime I feel stressed out or all over the place. Beautiful Voices!

  • great song ... but complete genius from 2:44 to 3:25

  • Omg can't belive the talent I'm hearing ... just found a new favorite genre ...

  • I haven't been watching the video but caught a glimpse at 3:38 and thought he was smoking. :p

  • Watch the video again...they ain't so sweet, a bunch of hoodies setting light to stuff, happens round my way all the time!!!

  • I like setting light to stuff it's fun! Have you ever sprayed perfum over a candle before! poof! they were told to randomly light stuff though!

  • who's the soloist

  • It's Steven Geraghty!:) He helps out with the choir now along with Sam Coates and Ben Crawley. AND they have a band called Fronting Vocals. It's pretty much the awesomest thing you'll ever hear EVER!

  • omg, i love these boys. they are so amazing.

  • Hehe, i couldnt remember what it was called, so i searched tighie highie whitie on google lol.

    Fount it now though :D

    Love it to bits :D

  • Tightie hightie whitie?

    Lol

    Such a beautiful song :'(

  • I'll have to get someone to put it on facebook for me...I don't have a scanner any more! :(

BUT, I can email you my picture of Chris from the Luminosa CD! -it's blue!

  • Yeah, GOING ON EIGHT! there's a difference between 7 and going on 8!

  • You mean where it's all shadowy and vague? That was Anthony!:)

I drew a picture of it, IT LOOKS AWESOME!

  • it's quite unlikely, as you know the vid is made so long ago. Probably need tracing back to old albums and videos.

  • Yeah, I don't think they would have let a 7 year join...no matter how good!

  • they do let 7 year olds join - if they're really good. I believe that Liam o'kane was that young in the first videos we see of him on youtube (the christopher robin prayer one and the Abba ones)

  • Yeah, I relized that after I'd already posted it...which was stupid of me since their's a little boy in my sister's choir whose name is also Tom who's only 7 and is a soloist (he's sooo cute!)

  • actually they do let 7 year olds join if their good but usually dont go on the tours yet

  • Tom Cully? No, I don't think so, to my knowledge he did not join till the year after this video was made...but I could be wrong...

  • I love them...

  • The first time I ever heard this was on TV and I`ve loved them ever since....got 2 of their albums.....brilliant, soothing music!!

  • i wish i was a boy living in south london so i could be in libera!!!!...actually if i was a boy my voice would change and i wouldnt be able to sing the high notes...i guess i should be content!

  • trying to sing it makes me cry god its hard

  • this song is so BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!

  • beyond words.for my father.miss you dad.xx

  • miss steven so much!TT

  • its amazing how this gets right in to your soul

  • The song is actually a modification of part of the liturgy of Compline (and not Vespera, as the title would imply), the monastic prayer before going to bed. As such, the video and tone fit it perfectly.

  • thats something i totly agree with.

  • TangoR34, there are rumours of a new album in March 2008

  • it is cool about libera, but are they going to make a new album this year or soon later?

  • Classicaljaj, Steven is still active behind the scenes with Libera, playing keyboards and clarinet in the live concerts and in the studio and with other older boys he helps train the new boys. He is by all accounts a superb musician.

  • he's hottt...just thought I'd add that

  • my brother knows a guy who looks almost exactly like him!!!

  • this is amazing like really amazing

  • awesome

  • Just a normal bunch of boys from various London schools. Amazing choir. Stephen Gerraty who sings the main vocals here will have sadly grown out of Libera. They have a great website.

  • bellissimo brano. voce affascinante.

    w libera!!!

  • those boys can sing i love this song

  • ...yes it was great (lol ;-p)

  • absolutely amazing, my eyes well up every time.

  • Great song and this is coming from somebody who likes Rap, RnB, Hip-Hop etc

  • i love this this is great thank you i love this song

  • i love this song sooo much its soooooooo relaxing i could listen to this all the time they sould be proud of this song and the video thats very good
