I actually think the Sonata isn't that much quicker than an EX 4 cylinder Accord. I mean considering the Accord is lacking DI and down a gear, it still can keep up pretty well with the Hyundai. The Accords 4 cylinder also sounds better and the transmission shifts quicker.
@xoquixxoqafxo I think the Sonata's tranny holds it back. From what I've seen, the Sonata 2.4 puts down roughly 153 HP/TQ to the wheels with the automatic on a DynoJet. Considering the 6-speed transmission and how much power it puts down to the wheels, it should be hitting 60 quicker than 7.2-7.6. The Accord EX is around 7.7-8.1, which really isn't that bad considering it only puts down about 145 HP and 125 TQ to the wheels and weighs more than the Sonata.
