I got one for about £20, and it doesn't work right at all. It gives me a tripe image fading off to the right. I can't figure out why, does this happen if the cable/connections are bad?
I'm using this on my computer monitor but I've noticed the text and outlines of certain things is a little bit odd looking. It looks like a faded silhouette in the background. It's tolerable to look at but can be a little distracting. I'm using 1920x1080 as my computer recommends it. I've tryed messing around with my monitor's settings and my Xbox's settings but nothing has worked thus far. Any advice would be appreciated.
@UnHolyFurBall I found out I had some jenky third-party cable. I later bought the official one new in the package from Microsoft and it's worked perfectly for months.
@TheKillswitch55 i assume youve found an answer elsewhere by now but - no, you dont have to have anything else hooked up to the monitor (aside from power)
ordered an official pre-owned one from cex for £2.50(broke ass!) delivered, should be here tomorrow.also got a new non branded one and when I plugged it in everything that was meant to be green was red!whilst gently adjusting it at the back of my moniter the whole thing came apart in my hands lol!
and anyone else, if you get a 360 VGA cable and see a transparent double image (called ghosting) on your screen it is because it is not the genuine Microsoft cable, but a 3rd party one. Look it up on google. I have a 3rd party one and it could be a lot clearer if it didn't have ghost image.
i bought an offbrand version of this vga cable, i have a 24 inch 1080p monitor, and i set it to 1080 on the dashboard, i get a double vision you can see it on the words and everything doesnt look 1080p lol. can someone help?
@ragingtortoise Same here but a lower resolution screen. It is washed out I believe the term is someone said. I am still looking for help around the net n if it is fixable.
But yeah Clean picture almost un noticeable when gaming but you can tell if you look for like a double of it or look at any words, then it is REALLY noticeable. This is washed out right? Anyone know? Hehe
@allibowthepilot yea you can but it doesnt give you as many options like he said he likes the 1280x1024 or watever u dont get that option on a hdmi cable sot it wont look as good for him and depending on ur monitor
Does it support 1200 by 900 resolution plus can i hook in my audio jack on that vga cord to my audio jacks on the back of my computer for sound? So my pcs sound card can pick it up
if like me you have a small 21inch lcd hd tv then this is perfect it delivers better than hdmi especially if you dont have the composite slot hole thing's the other colours yknow what im on about
If your monitor has two different sources of video display, like mine, they will be DVI and VGA. Just press on the button that changes the source and done.
how can i record my 360 gameplay using this setup??? have a dazzle recorder but cant use that when I play with VGA into the computer? really need help!
vga also works if you have a slot in the back of your lcd tv vga is high deff and only 30 to 40 bucks don't be like me and get the xcm hdmi converter for first generation xbox 360s without the hdmi port...damn shoulda got a new system with a hdmi port...
i mean i have straight up HDMI on my monitor but my froggin box don got no port- id kill for the digital signal tho vga makes my eyes hurt and only supports mode and super fuzz mode
pretty cool, i was wondering if i should get this as I have an older preHDMI 360. does VGA look better then component?. i was also thinking of getting an vga to dvi to hdmi cable, as component eats up alot of inputs. whats your opinion?

just to make sure so this VGA cable will connect into a DVI port right?
64ismael 7 months ago
@64ismael xD, no, a dvi port is way different than a VGA port. A VGA wire with do into a VGA port. Common sense buddy.

The VGA cable is the same quality/resolution as HDMI just change the settings to 1680x1080<--- 1080p!

can you use this on an lcd tv? ive seen these go for around 5-10 bucks online.
DryBones138 1 year ago
@DryBones138
I don't see why you would want that , if your LCD tv is not HD then it won't be HD gaming . lol. They should already have component Input.

OH also, HDMI might only support 480, 720, and 1080- no 16:10
thats really important if you don't have a monitor with pixel maping features

I use an HDMI-DVI cable on my 16:10 Monitor, at 1680x1050.
