You should wash knives by hand, but if you actually have a way to properly stabilize the knife in a dishwasher (so it doesn't get jostled around), then there isn't really any risk.
The real issue is there almost no effort in hand-washing a knife.. so why bother with the hassle of one in a dishwasher..
That Chef is Crazy! Awesome knives, the Henckels make very good knives for everyday use.

I have the Henckels Miyabi MC66 knife, bought it about 6 months ago, and it sees about 5 hours of constant work daily (I'm a chef)
The Morimoto is the new type models, but their highest model Morimoto MC, only hits rockwell 63~average.
The Older Miyabi MC hits a 66~average.
So if you can, get a hold of the older Miyabi model.

There are different versions of those Miyabi knives. Those called 600S actually are dishwasher safe, the others aren't.
