  • Anna was distributed by Chess but was strictly a Gordy family label--however, I think CHESS had some rights to some of the material--one of the ANNA 45s Popeye the Sailor Man by Lamont Anthony appeared on a CHESS VA comp of Dance hits

  • Love this one!!!! sounds great!!!

  • I put an inquiry in at MotownJunkies, home of the guys who live and breathe Motown. If there is an Anna 78, I have three legitimate questions. 1) Why are there no other Anna 78 records floating around? 2) Wouldn't a big hit on Anna mean there are are quite a few 78s still around? 3) Why are there no label scans or videos of the biggest Anna record in history and the biggest Motown hit to that date, if there were 78s?

  • @srercrcr Estan extinguidos maestro...The people don't want to show them. hahahaha

  • @srercrcr Received a few responses from MotownJunkies contributors that affirm the existance of an Anna "Money" 78. They were seen on the web, I suspect alternate auction sites, they post up great scans, but remove them after the auction is over.

  • LOVE THIS!!!

    "MONEY"

JUST LOVE DANCING TO THIS SONG!!!

WHAT A GREAT FEEL GOOD SONG!

  • Are we sure a 78 exists? I don't think I've ever seen a Gordy-Motown 78, this is a Gordy-sister's Anna song. I believe Anna had national distribution through Chess or somebody, but that wouldnt necessitate a 78.

  • @srercrcr Chess was one of the last companies to issue 78s--til about mid 1960 I have seen 78s of this

  • @RockinEd Thx. It must have been on the Anna label. Chess didnt issue it on their label, as they did with the Miracles during this time period.

  • If labels are resumes, this one doesnt get the job. Anna, Roquel Davis, Barrett Strong....meant nothing. If you were really into credits, Berry Gordy would have lit a 12v light bulb. This one had to rely on its greatness, and it did that so well. Still in my all-time Top 50. I might even go out on a limb and say what Gordy put into this recording typifies his musical talent and, yes, genius.

  • this song kicked off the famous motown music.#23pop,#2rnb,1960.classic :)

  • great 45 ....of course the 78 is very very rare and great to find

  • @Westtoledoguy Yes it is, I don't have that 78 but would love to find it! I found a Chantels 78 today for a buck! It was well scratched and has a chip but not in the grooves, plays pretty nice ! I will try to post a video but Chantels songs often are blocked so we'll see if they let me..

  • Righteous! NICE copy!

Now that you've got the 45 of this beauty, ain't nothing stopping you from trading me the 78 of it, right? ;)

  • @SwingMan1937 I don't have a copy! lol. I had an extra 45 which went to Raymond when I heard how much he liked it!

  • @CrisVangel1958 My bad, guy - thought it was you who had the 78. I know the 78 is posted somewhere on YouTube, though.

Yeah, this is a must-have for me as well.
