Thanks for the crash course in Mac OS navigation. I just applied for a job that wants me to know how to use a Mac. This gave me the basics, the rest I'll figure out later.
What is that icon next to the trash. I switched to make after leopard was released and I haven't seen it in Leopard. if anyone could tell me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Gettin macbook pro tomorrow and you have helped me sooooo much, i am switching from windows to leapord. And you have made me more confident, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Well, no, the first part of the title says it is reviewing a MacBook Pro. That shouldn't even be in the title, it's all about the OS. This review doesn't say anything about hardware.
They may have popularized it but they sure as hell didn't "innovate" or "invent it" so they have no right to claim it as their own, making them more of a bunch of hypocrites
I don't believe that they claim to have invented it. They claim to have popularized it. Their less knowledgeable fans claim that apple invented it. So how does that make them hypocritical?
Apple "stole" the GUI from xenox, and let's just say that Microsoft "stole" quick search or whatever you call it. Apple complains about Microsoft but they took the GUI from xenox. they have no right to say that microsoft "stole" something from them when they "stole" something from xenox
not being rude, but they got it from Xerox PARC, not xenox. and I agree, it's pointless to talk about who got what idea from who, I just think OS X implements a lot of ideas better than Microsoft has been able to, but maybe that will change with Windows 7, who knows.
apple can choose to do two thinks: 1) come up with their own ideas that they know people will steal (not just microsoft). 2) test all the operating systems, and find all the features you need to put them in one big O/S
Currently apple is 1 and Microsoft is 2
Im sure there are people in microsoft who could come up with great ideas for the operating system but microsoft if they dovated themselves. it seems though that they care more about finding features in other O/Ss and implementing them in W
Mac OSX has always had a right click feature if you used a non apple mouse, but apple built in right click into their mice about 4 years ago. if you used an apple mouse before, u just pressed control then clicked.
i do know that ctrl + click brings down the context menu. i wasn't referring to that. i was reffering to the mouse having two buttons. and mac DID take that idea from microsoft
Did you wear a headset to record or with the built in microphone. Cause it sounds good and I don't wanna buy a smaller mic for my macbook pro that's coming.
Man man man, that was great just what I've been looking for. I've always used the family's computer etc but now I saved enough to go and buy an Macbook Pro, I can't wait. But I hadn't any idea about Mac OS X so I'm so glad I found this, 5/5!
I haven't tried much on the optical drive yet except for ripping a CD to it and it seemed fast to me, but my last computer had an extremely slow optical drive so it may be just me thinking it's fast. Here are the speeds from apple's site though: Maximum write: 8x DVD-R, DVD+R; 4x DVD-R DL (double layer), DVD+R DL (double layer), DVD-RW, DVD+RW; 24x CD-R; 10x CD-RW
For music the speakers are loud enough to where I can turn it all the way up and hear the music from anywhere in a room. Definately louder than most other laptops.
I would like to know more about the optical drive and the speakers. (speed of the optical drive, and quality and "loudness" of speakers). just curious. thanks!
well theres nothing specific im really asking for since i dont have a mac yet, but if u could on ur next review, that anytime u can compare anything to windows please point it out. O yeah is there anything similar to control panel in macs? Lastly...pls show any cool features, still very curious, thankz again
In the next part of this review I am probably going to go more in depth with specific applications so there probably won't be that much to compare to windows but I will try.
If you are worried about not knowing how to use OS X as a windows user all I can say is the switch from PC>Mac for me has been extremely easy thus far. It's only been a couple days and I feel like I have been using the machine for months.
FinallY!!! A review im looking for. KEEP IT UP! cause im not a mac user yet but will be soon and i find this very helpful in getting familiar with the program/software. =]

This has absolutly nothing to do with the MacBook Pro.

Actually it does. MacBook Pro runs on OS X, so you, it practicly has everything to do with MacBook

they "sneaked" it in so nobody catches them "copying" windows.
bunch of hypocrites.
ArcticSheep 4 years ago 2
But Windows copied the whole concpect of PC's for Mac so Mac deserves to copy them wherever they have have somthing worth copying (not often)

Apple popularized the GUI before Microsoft had any OS with a GUI. And that's a fact.

Man Apple and Microsoft need to cut the shit. Windows; Exit, Ctrl, Alt
Mac; Quit, Cmd, Opt....
Seriously? I know I'm nit picking but damn... Is it really necessary to try THAT hard to be different. That shits unnecessary... Oh good video btw.
