  • I had the honor of meeting Mr. Welk in Boston back in l977 when he was doing a book tour. He was the same in person as on the show...charming, personable, and made you feel as though he was glad to see you. his show was probably one of the last of TV's 'all-family entertainment' programs.

  • OMG!! my grammy use to watch Lawrence Welk!! fond memories of her singing with him!!

  • Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. The Lawrence Welk Show was the greatest! A treat for the whole family.

  • Jus' wunnerful! Great job and thanks for posting! Hated the show when I was little, but kinda' like it now... guess it's just nostalgia talking! My grandma and mom never missed it and my dad grew to like it too!

  • Mr. Lawrence Welk was of a different time then some people here. I used to watch his show with my grandparents, back when things were cleaner unlike some of the garbage "talent" of today. R.I.P.

  • How could they have done this show with two camera operators? I remember three, and of the two listed, one was misspelled - it's Jim Balden, who I believe married one of the performers on the show.

  • What's the font of "Lawrence Welk"?

  • When I was a child, if we visited my great aunt on a Saturday night, the world came to a stop between 8:30 and 9:30 when Lawrence Welk was on. His show was a dazzling collection of talent.

  • All you need is a sponsor logo in the background, and you'd have an even more lifelike re-creation

  • I wonder what they did with the Bubble machine????

  • takes me back to when i used to watch this when my grandfather was around. excellent show when the accordion came out.

  • Good job. You got the '60s video look down pretty well.

  • Total fun!! Takes me back, thanks!!!

  • Thanks you....so delightful and it takes me back to being a pre-teener in the mid-60's. My grandmother who'd had a stroke watched the show every Saturday and insisted I sit next to her. Hearing this took me back to a time when, despite the effects of the stroke, she still managed to attempt to smile during this song, which she loved. Thank you so much for reminding me of a happy time.

  • Terrific job! Love it - using this classic for a slideshow I'm making - in addition to another one of my Welk favs

    "Calcutta"

    Really enjoyed your "Bubbles"

  • Great job!!!! I grew up watching the show with my grandparents....such good memories, and excellent entertainment. Thank you!!!!

  • U R OLD

  • @jaraha Well, I AM old enough to remember the original black and white shows as well as the Dodge sponsor.

  • BUBBLES IN THE WINE ENDING LYRICS

Good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you

Here's a wish and prayer that every dream comes true

And though it's always sweet sorrow to part

I know you'll always remain in my heart

Good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you

Here's a wish and a prayer that every dream comes true

And now 'til we meet again

Adios, au revior, auf weidersehen.....Good Night!

  • @Fiftiesflashback No Adios, au revior, auf weidersehen is the title of the song your referring to. "Bubbles In The Wine" is a different song, and it's the one heard here.

  • Guess I am a bit confused. . .what is the name of this song? Is it just a custom instrumental of his closing song? Because all clips of the show ending, I just see singers...I am not a huge Welk fan (too young to watch him when he was on), but this is a great song.

  • It's called 'Bubbles in the Wine'.

  • you should do a version of this, synced up with "Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn", the closing theme of the show's final decade or so.. PM me if you are interested in an Mp3 of this song.

  • could you please send me the mp3 ??

  • He was a great man! =)

Didn't know him since I'm too young. BUT, he grew up about 34 miles south of where I'm from. =)

  • Nice that you got all the right fonts. Good job on this. I have seen credits which seemed nearly this long.

  • We are supposed to be commenting on the above video here, not going after Welk calling him a FAG-that's extremely rude and will not be accepted. Comments only about the video posted here please.

  • Thank you. That person has been blocked from posting on this thread any further and his comments were deleted.

  • Thanks and much apprciated as I really enjoy YouTube. Happy New Year and Cheers

  • welkcirswe...Welk was a very wealthy man...and one of the most successful in Hollywood...

  • @welkcirswe Lawrence Welk, like all good Germans, believed in discipline of the mind, soul, pussy connection. The bubbles represent the growing waistlines of America, home of the McBlubber burger. If Lawrence's hot angels gained any weight they were restricted from the show. But Lawrence still used them for pussy.

  • @etbella3 Do you think Welk was really a skirt chaser? And why are you attributing that to his being German? When it comes to men desiring intimate contact with women, it tends to transcend race/ancestrial heritage.

  • I hear they buried Welk with the bubble machine.

I remember in the 60's when me and my brothers would stay at our grandparents house on Saturday nights ,they would be watching this and we'd explode in laughter just hearing Welk speak. I have no idea why we found him so funny. My italian grandfather would give us the strap if we didn't pipe down.

  • Los that is a funny story...

  • well done!

  • doctor...so?

    He had three children...

What is your obsession with homos?

Is your holie yearning for one? for an experience? I think you are on the wrong site...try "Barry Manilow and Pink Bananas..."

  • doctor...a very rich fag...but he was married...

Also, Welk was one of the richest men in Los Angeles at the time he died in the 1990's...he was known as a good businessman...

Doctor...how dare you call this great American a fag...

    jerk...

  • Would ABC have allowed such a long sign off?

  • probably not, but ending credits were a lot longer then than they are now. Now days, credits roll so fast, you can't even read them unless you have a DVR that can freeze the frame.

  • @ChuckK3 Oftentimes in those days of live shows, they'd play as much of the credits as they could before time ran out.... if the show went fast, all the credits might be played, if the show was running long they might only show the first few slides.

  • I find this song very relaxing...it could keep liberals and thiefs...away from my neighborhood...I could play this song...near my porch...no hippy or body pierced weirdo...would step within a mile of my home...

  • I heard a rumor that they forgot to turn off the bubble machine. I'll bet Mr.Welk is flipping cartwheels in his grave.

  • when did they forget to turn it of?

  • Wunnerful, Wunnerful....(Pop.....whooooooosh)

  • That is awesome! Looks so real like it was actually on TV and the end credits of the show. Kudos!

  • Nice work!
