Geo, if you're in Glasgow, The Searchers are appearing there on May12th and if you don't go to the show (with Wayne Fontana, Merseybeats and John Walker) go along and buy their DVD at the start or interval that is only sold at their shows in the foyer) or go along afterwards if you want to buy a DVD and get it signed as they always do a meet and greet after their shows.
It is an Ian Tyson song, but this Searchers' version is much much better. It sounds different with Ian Tyson. The Searchers has made it better.

Yes, Ian Tyson, and performed by Ian and Sylvia.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of their 'Searchers Live 2007 DVD'? Any format would do. (AVI, MPEG etc).

what a beautiful song-takes me back to my misspent youth when I used to sing it at parties with my sister's mate who is not a bad guitar player-donna

This song was actually written by Ian Tyson but some sites mistakenly credit John Denver.

This song was written by Ian Tyson not John Denver! It's a lovely song and I'm glad they sing it in their live solo concerts!!

This song is called "Four Strong Winds". From the "Take me for what I'm worth LP" If I remember it correctly, the song was composed by John Denver.
