By this time, Geffen/Iovine had fired Ryan, Don Heffington and Marvin Etzioni and hired studio guys. COmpare this to the version from the Palamino with the original band!

@BruceKap440 Thank's for ths imfo. Yes I can tell the difference (especially in the 'image department'). Do you think that Maria would have made the 'big time' without Lovine's tinkering and 'control'? What effect did it have on her raw talent and style?
i shot this video at montclair state college on may 17th 1987. actually got caught by security, but jimmy iovine said i could keep shooting. never shut camera off so all of it is on tape. still looking for a live audio tape of there bottom line show and there stone pony show.
@mrdanvw2 cool! msc: my alma mater...i used to hang in the amphitheater and sing my lungs out, when no one was in sight. lonejustice/maria fan here....nice audio, thanks!
Their debut album was one of my favorites. It's still a treasured vinyl. Saw them several times in small venues in California. They also opened for U2 a few times. Thanks for the posting.
she's such an emotive singer n' has alway brought a tear to my eye and given my heart wings at the same time . If she ever teamed up with Shawn Colvin ...
This might be at Montclair State College (now Montclair State University) in Montclair, NJ. I was at that show and I remember background setting including the tree behind Maria. I had still pictures which look nearly identical to this video, though can't find them now. The venue was a small, on-campus amphitheater whose semi-circle rows of seats were set into a hill, and the campus road was behind the stage. You can see cars and bicyclists riding past behind the band.
how a singer can touch as strong as her. thanks for your tape.
from France.

Marvin Etzioni wrote this song, played bass on the first LJ album and produced the demo that got them signed. Awesome song--an instant classic!

Where is this from? Quality isn't the best, but Maria's beautiful voice still shines through.
