Congratulations man. This is a great song! Hope you and your family are OK. I will be coming to Hamilton on October 29th for the big rally in solidarity with your locked out brothers and sisters.
Hi Remo, i'm luca from sicily, Italy!!!___i would like to invite to join my facebook group of the "Cino in the world___one big family" we are a lot of cinos from all over thye world who want to know about our story and families!!! C u soon!!!____nice music!!!!___ciao
You are truley a man of the blue collar worker! I work at a paper mill and thank God everyday that I have a job and fear that job will be gone soon. I will keep everyone who has lost their jobs in my heart and prayers. Keep up the good work!
Read about this in this month's USW@WORK mag. I put it with Jon Rich's Shuttin Detroit Down and Hank Jr's Red White and Pink Slip Blues. Great song but like Hank says, is anyone listening?
Hey Whatsa goin ona with a you? Nice to hear you still writing, gotta get you over sometime with the family. Dustin is playing drums now and guitar, so we are set up ok in the basement
In Solidarity Brother.... I understand fully... I was layed off after 12 yrs the first week in Feb in Winnipeg. My prayers are with all of the members that have been hit by all of this.
Cino--Thank you for the great song. The message really hits home here in Granite City, IL. Again thank you, keep writing, keep singing, keep the American dream alive. From another brother in local 1899
My husband went through this five years ago and because we were a rinky dink company nobody cared but it can happen to anyone, this puts it out there for all...
Great video and song. I wasn't an employee at US Steel, I was a contractor. I worked for MultiServ working inside the BOF and Caster. Great song, I'll share it with the other guys I know from the mill. I was at the union hall this past week and apparently they are having a gathering downtown Hamilton at the convention center this Saturday the 21st @ 1:00pm. I'll forward any pictures I get to you Rcino if you like.
The Kitchener-Waterloo Record also carried the story from the spectator. You never know how life goes man, maybe this is the time that you step off the steel plank into making money with your music. I wish you best of luck and wellness in the future,
Add a boy. I am ,was an electrician in USS, off work a month now. I wish USS still Stelco. and we can work for Canada go through this recession. look forward...
thank you for sharing your song and allowing the worlld to know what our city has been built is being ripped away from us. Everyone in my family has worked there at some point or another and the way the employees are being treated breaks my heart.
As a former Hamiltonian, and Steel Worker (Ore Docks Heavy Equipment Operator) I have to congratulate you. Yes, the tune's a bit rough, but the message is loud and clear. This is the final nail in the coffin of the former "Ambitious City". Well done.
I am really glad the spectator mentioned your song on the front page. This song should be heard by so many more people. I wish it didn't have to be written, but it is very good
Great song Remo. I recommend the book Rich Dad Poor Dad. The educated ( poor dad ) told the kid to do well in school and find a secure job. The so-so educated ( rich dad ) ( his friend's father) told the kid that there is no such thing as job security so it's best to build a business. Writing songs like we are doing is a good start. If I lost my job, I wouldn't blame the company, I would blame myself for choosing to work for a company that sucks. A job is a short term solution to a LT problem.
Your right about job security in today's world. However, when most of us started @ Stelco in the 60's & 70's, there were "jobs for life". My generation is the last of the working class to have it good.
Remo you've captured the passion and frustration of this sad moment in Canadian history. Every generation has had that someone who has given a voice to their movement, their protest and their pain. You've just joined the ranks of Guthrie, Baez, Seeger,Lightfoot etc. We're proud of you Cat & Carlo
Greetings from Quebec! The struggle of the Stelco steelworkers is the struggle of all workers! An Injury to One is an Injury to All! One for All and All for One! Whose economy? Our Economy!
.Am I gloating? NO!! But I can't live in a delusion either, that somehow between poor management and the other factors, uncompetitiveness finally kicked in.
This whole schmozzle started in 1982 with Cec. The union never took any concessions, but since then the salary always bore the brunt. Yes, poor management was a big factor (think Jim Alfano)but with all our best tech (coilbox etc) licensed around the world to the steel companies, and them having cheaper costs and wages etc, it was bound to all combine and hit like a brick between the eyes
I wonder what the big surprise is. US Steel has idled a good percentage of its US operations too. Look at how long it took to find a buyer... that should have told ya something. I was working salary and we were taking a hit on our benefits. our salaries, jobs were consolidated when someone retired and you just got more work and responsibility with no pay raise.
my apologies for the distortion. It sounded good on my computer before I uploaded it. does anybody have any advice on how I can prevent this in the future?
I will be there.
