No need for Jeff Maehl to be upset about the amazing season he had, i understand they lost, but barely, he played amazing as well as the complete duck team.
I am an Auburn fan and alumni but I would say that I respect the Ducks as a team and fan base. They are a strong team, school, and fan base. I want to say that I am so proud to have played a team like Oregon for the NC. Am I glad we won, sure, but I'm also glad to have played such a wonderful group of guys and classy fans that I have met. Thanks Ducks and go get em next season. Thanks and War Eagle!
@NotAtrollAtAll when you live in the SEC and especially in Alabama. you become your sports fan... just how it is down here. the iron bowl comes around once a year and the entire state shuts down for that one game. biggest rivarly in College Football no doubt about it.
Darron Thomas LaMichael James, Jeff Mahel, and Casey Matthews all look like they just got done fig, hting in a war, it was a battle to the end but at least true oregon fans have nothing to be ashamed of i still throw my O up and rock the green and yellow everyday. GO DUCKS! at least you lost by playing fair and didnt win by cheating...
Darren Thomas is classless. No credit to Auburn's defense, grow up. Everybody else I have respect for, Oregon is a great team, and LaMicheal is a great player. Best of luck to Oregon in the future. War Eagle!
why in the world would he give credit? Gene Chizick didn't even compliment Oregon at all. Your War white trash U is nothing but a flash in the pan because you cheat and pay your players, enjoy your win cause after the NCAA take it away from you, you wont see a BCS game in another 50 years. Hilbilly
@thejaredsawyer extremely well said Oregon was the best college football team last year to not play for professional players, and play with class.
and to any auburn fans that want to say that their team has more class just watch the game, two personal foul by undisciplined dirty players on the auburn side one of which should have gotten the player thrown out of the game.
@cougarfb65 the best college team last year?? haha what a joke. oregon played 3 ranked teams. and lost to one of them. so they beat two ranked teams. auburn beat 6 ranked teams. case closed.
@cougarfb65 paid players?? thats against the NCAA rules. and no allegations have been proven therefore they are the BEST College team. case again closed. and i would bet Alabama and Arkansas and LSU would beat Oregon. we shall see with the opening game being LSU and OREGON. good luck to oregon.. LSU will tear u to shreds.
Casey Matthews and that Mael guy earned my respect...great players. I totally underestimated this team...but in all honesty this is what we SEC folk are always talking about. You can have great schemes, but it will take about two or three games for SEC defenses to figure it out. Great players win the BCS Championship, not schemes.
War Eagle to Oregon though...class act all the way, fans coaches, players...very impressive.
you won by 3..... not be 20... I give credit to Auburn's D-line... that run and the end was a freak play, Cam Newton looked, average, wasn't impressive at all. He was scared, sliding at the end, and not wanting to get hit like a big baby. Oregon will be back again, Auburn.... not hardly.
@thejaredsawyer STFU dude do you have anything nice to say? Stop being a jackass and stop complaining! Its OVER you guys lost now look forward to not losing next year!
@nintendude60 Set up more Pac-12 SEC matchups and see what happens to that vaunted reputation you have...Oh yeah, when will Florida cross the Mississippi? They're a REGIONAL POWER, not a national power. Same for all but LSU, Tennessee, and Georgia. Get real whiners, you don't travel and you don't play regular season power matchup games. You're a joke. Bring it to the West Coast yearly, not this automatic BCS slot because Auburn cried in 2004. YOU SUCK SEC. Visit the BIg 10 and the Pac12
@mwest6970 haha wow. look at this whiny kid. how many ranked teams did pac 12 have this last year? umm 2? SEC plays actual teams that are good. Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn (well was good), LSU, Florida, Georgia. Mississippi state was actually pretty good. you need to look at the facts. because the SEC is the dominant conference. so quite ur whining. and play against the SEC and see the slaughter we hand you. SEC doesnt travel because the conference is soo good.
@nintendude60 Depth in the SEC? Please. Getting 4 automatic top 10 bids doesn't mean you have 4 top teams. Try this for size: since USC demolished that "SEC POWERHOUSE" myth in 2002 and 2003, NO SEC team has played USC straight up since. They're not even the cream of the PAC12 anymore.
The Pac12 can handle the best of the SEC. The problem is, the nation doesn't see the proof but once a decade. The SEC is overrated, the Pac12 is underrated. Oregon filled the top slot and proved it.
@mwest6970 exactly how was the pac 12 any good this season? please give the me the list of ranked teams from your conference. and ill give you the list of ranked teams from the SEC. the pac 12 was a joke last year. the SEC has won the last 5 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.. exactly what has the pac 12 done?
@nintendude60 Ranked teams...that's your argument. Here's mine: I've seen so many three loss SEC teams(or 4) hover near the top 10 that its a complete joke.
SEC dominance is a myth. You schedule patsies and hide behind fake rankings. Schedule USC, Oregon and Stanford like we schedule Ohio State, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas, LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee. You're the only conference that hides behind your reputation.
We're catching on though. Oregon's visit to Tennessee was good timing.
@mwest6970 a myth? 5 NATIONAL TITLES?? You didnt schedule Auburn.. that was national title. Tennessee is the weakest team of our conference.. and they had you tied up for the entire first half.. owned.. and LSU finally another good SEC team. Ranked teams actually make a difference. we play much harder teams than you do. USC was a joke. You didnt even play Ohio State, nor OKlahoma, nor Nebraska, nor Texas. Your a joke. we play in the hardest conference, and its proven.
@nintendude60 Now we’re talking… 48 unanswered points against Tennessee (NO SEC team did that to Tenn).
Try this for size, UCS beat auburn 23-0, then Arkansas three years later 50-14-BOTH ON THE ROAD. Auburn was #6, Arkansas #8 in the SEC Title game later that year. USC dismantled that claim SEC powerhouses face the best of college ball in their own conference(aka ranked SEC teams).
If USC is a joke, why did they schedule SEVEN top 10 teams (6-1) outside the PAC12? SEC doesn't do that.
@nintendude60 Furthermore, I simply cannot stand the fact that fact you claim your top ranked teams are top ranked. Maybe in the South. That doesn't fly here on the West Coast. Do you truly think Bama can handle Stanford-this year? I don't. I certainly can't wait for Oregon-LSU, and Oregon doesn't even have an established O-line!
You see, we put on the line in September (like USC), you don't. Even now you don't schedule USC. When you schedule Oklahoma and Ohio State, call me.
@mwest6970 yes because oregon played the very worst team in the SEC, and ill give oregon credit. but then again they lost in the national championship game. I know Alabama can handle Stanford this year. USC is a joke. Their head coach was our trash in the SEC. SEC is by all accounts a much harder conference to play in. Go ask the ESPN's anaysts if you want to. and why are you bringing up USC from 2001 and 2002? and so on. Look at the last 5-6 years. SEC has proven its dominance.
Lane Kiffin didn’t validate the SEC is a much harder conference to play in. Kiffin knows because he coached in both conferences. Jeremiah Masoli didn’t say anything about the SEC’s superiority either.
Lane Kiffin didn’t validate the SEC is a much harder conference to play in. Kiffin knows because he coached in both conferences. Jeremiah Masoli didn't either.
You have to understand, those that have been in both conferences know. Again, ranked SEC teams aren't credible
@nintendude60 Furthermore...though I don't condone bolting on a team, how can you compare coaching Tennessee to coaching USC? On top of it, Kiffin was a part of the coaching staff that discredited the "SEC powerhouse" theory. But for East Coast bias, USC's 2006, and 2008 trophies belong on the west coast. And Oregon provided you two gifts-a fluke play, and 4 QB injuries (you're welcome LSU-Dixon's and Clemmons' injury opened a spot for you).
@mwest6970 fluke play? Auburn beat oregon. The past 5 years of national titles has been earned. Florida destroyed in the national title game. Bama really it shoulda been closer but poor McCoy said he was done after taking a light hit.. anyways. 5 years of national Titles and you wana say SEC isnt credible? your crazy.
@nintendude60 22 players stopping on a play constitutes a FLUKE. Now to Florida: somehow, in 2006 UF, with their PROVEN performance over the years (several ranked nonconference opponents anyone?), were SUPPOSEDLY more talented. USC had already DEMOLISHED 4 "tough" SEC matchups. PROVEN SUCCESS 4 straight years including that very same year. POLLS ARE NOT CREDIBLE.
PERFORMANCE IS CREDIBLE.
You lobby for your titles. BCS stands for BeCause the Sec should get the title. LAME...
@mwest6970 what fluke play? there was no fluke play. and USC was good. notice i said was. SEC rules the game now. SEC is here to stay. Ur USC coach is a joke. and the only decent team over there is oregon.
@nintendude60 Dude, I watch the SEC every week. I ENJOY watching the SEC. Yes, Kiffin is less of a coach than Caroll. He left a mess in Tennessee. He did manage to take a 5-7 team to a bowl, nearly beat National Champ Bama, lost to Florida by ten, and beat Carolina AND Georgia. Lame to leave though. SEC powers have been stacked in the West the last 2 years. It used to be Georgia, UF AND at least two from the West. Look for UW, and ASU to emerge this year. Let's see how MSU does.
@nintendude60 And don't start me on USC. 9-4 vs SEC teams since 1960-all ranked (10 of them top 10). SEVEN CONSECUTIVE 11 WIN SEASONS. Since 2001, 14-5 VS. TOP 10 TEAMS(6-1 BCS-the other 4 losses were to Oregon).
USC's seen all the top ranked in every conference- and rocked them all. Check Wikipedia since 1960. Oh yeah, the Pac12 team always schedules difficult games. Not so in the SEC. And since USC clocked Arkansas and Auburn when they were very good...dispels that SEC mystique.
@mwest6970 USC is trash right now. the powerhouse is SEC. your gonna sit here and tell me USC could beat Alabama? if so. you apparently know nothing of football.
@nintendude60 I watch SEC ball every year. USC can hang with Bama-better than you think. Their defense isn't as solid as two years ago going back to 2001 (by far the very best in college ball that 9 years), but they'd score enough to possibly win. And I do know, and I watched both last year enough times. USC's offense can score 28 on Bama. Problem is, their D-line gives up too many yards on the ground. That's how Bama controls games-keep away....
@mwest6970 lol no USC couldnt beat bama, or put that many points on bama. They got this spread offense dont they? our secondary or w/e u call it. would tear that apart. you guys have no run game really. and if ur d-line gives up too many yards on the ground against your conference??? think what a SEC team can do. when they play smash mouth football.
@nintendude60 Oregon runs the spread. USC runs a Pro style offense. How can you claim to be an expert when you don't even watch the teams? They run bootlegs very successfully against Pro style defenses. USC dropped more on Oregon (as did Stanford) than Auburn did. Oregon dropped more on TENN than the SEC did (including Bama). Your win was a FLUKE. LSU backed in, in 2007, Florida couldn't hold USC's sack in 2006 or 2008. All three years-PAC12 stages. SEC lobbying got those titles
@mwest6970 haha but Oregon was matched up the entire first half. i dont call that a good game. Auburn win wasnt a fluke. if anything it was overkill. cam newton didnt even play. he didnt even run.
@nintendude60 Cmon, Cam didn't run cuz he couldn't run. A three point win is overkill? Did you know that when Auburn started that last drive, both teams had the SAME TOTAL YARDAGE? And 37 of those yards (more than half) came from that pure demonstration of Auburn's dominance? LOL.
In the first half, the refs called a foot down, change hands INT out of bounds (next play-TD), Cam in mid air fumble down at the spot, and a "ball over the plane" safety. Despite those 16 pts-you dominated.
@mwest6970 lets see.. Oregon plays LSU. lets see if they can manage a 1 and 1 with the SEC. my bets its going to be close. but its gonna be 0 and 2 for Oregon.
@nintendude60 My guess is LSU has too much returning experience for Oregon. Later in the year...even steven. So I'll concede that one to you. If I were a betting man, I'd take LSU (I thought the same about Auburn too-until the first half was over-Oregon played well enough to win-even in the first half in my opinion).
Again though, only Bama and LSU are title caliber-just like Oregon and Stanford.
@mwest6970 yeah. idk look out for Arkansas. The SEC gets crazy mid-way through the year. teams we didnt think about. start showing up. and looking pretty good.
@nintendude60 Yeah, but like Mississippi in 06', most mid level teams aren't strong enough for the heavyweights. This is where I believe misguided SEC enthusiasts think the SEC is super deep. Bottom line, only two SEC are good enough to truly contend for the title each year. Thus, Arkansas will look threatening till they get beat down by Bama and LSU. And the East is mediocre (even Florida AND Georgia, the best two). The Pac 12 is the same this year-no real surprises....
@mwest6970 thats what we are saying here in the SEC. our teams are great but they dont look that great cuz they get beat down by even better teams, which for the past 5 years have won national titles. just sayin. Arkansas will look good cuz they are good. very good. but the fact that they might get beat by someone doesnt mean they suck. its just that we have such good competittion.
the good thing is since oregon went the BCS they will be getting recuits for awhile (espically cause oregons got swag!!!)
