Tv series came out in 1996 or 1997.. i was 3 or 4 then but yeah anyway point here is i didnt know a movie was made

For people who seem to think that the series took a dump on the movie:

The movie was meddled with all through production and the scrpit that Joss wrote wasn't the movie he set forth to do. The series was his way of gettint a second chance to do what he wanted. He even put in the fact that the school burned down into the series because in the movie, that was the orginal ending. Not what we got.

To be honest, I think Buffy wasn't supposed what it ended up being.  It was a satire, the whole Rutger Hauer violin playing, the silly "chosen one" thing. It is taking the piss of all the cliches that give these sort of movies their life. This 1992 version is a classic of that, but most people didn't really get the point. And then they went and did those series, that destroyed everything the film intended. I personally dislike the series because of that.

That's how I feel and that's what I've been trying to tell everyone. My friends wonder why I liked the movie more than the series and here are my reasons:

-Good humor

-Cool one-liners

-Talented cast

-Kick-ass soundtrack (especially with C&C music factory and Ozzy Osbourne)

-Kick-ass fight scenes.

In these terms, the t.v. series can't hold a candle with the movie. I mean, I'm glad Joss Whedon got another chance to do his vision *his* way but the movie kept it simple.

Kirsty swanson is still beatiful now, and yes... the movie was great, far better than the series which was darker and dull. the actors in this were great... kirsty, luke, david, rutger and hillary swank.

The TV show is my favorite fictional story of all time. I'm still here watching the original. I'm not enjoying it, but I'm not hating on Swanson.

Not to mention, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show had a much larger range of fans than teenagers. I think you're thinking of Twilight. Buffy has fans of ALL ages. Yes, even people who liked the original movie when it came out.

I would have to disagree with you...the show was amazing. Did you watch more than one episode? Season 1 had a couple of not so great eps but the rest of the show was truly inspiring and filled with gut wrenching emotion and action...A LOT better than the movie. SMG makes a much better buffy too
