Anyone recommend a Firewire adaptor for my laptop - I'm thinking of getting a Firestudio but haven't got firewire ability....
By the way, I've heard that there's an offer on at the moment to get a free MSR with the Firestudio, but will I really need one if I'm just a bedroom producer?
my computer has nforce4 sli chipset and the firestudio does not work right. i can hardly get any sound out of mics. i know that i can get different firewire card- pci-e TI chipset. but, i don't know if it is worth the bother. i have msi k8n diamond plus mobo. the firewire port is built-in on the mobo. the thing is like piece of trash for me now. $699 down the drain.
I had mine for a bit too and I bought a Roswill Firewire card which has a VIA chipset which should be fine but Sweetwater reccommended a Texas Instruments one which they sell for way more then a $13 Firewire card from NewEgg like I got. I'd buy it if I knew it would cure my issues but their's no garauntee.
Can't you just select and switch to TEXAS INSTRUMENTS LEGACY Drivers, like I had to do to get my MOTU WORKING PROPERLY??? it worked for me... maybe it'll work for you.
Well, I figured it out (no thanks to you, presonusaudio). If anyone ever purchases the Digimax LT with the Firestudio, you need a BNC cable connecting the two, to sync the sample rates (even though I figured ADAT would take care of that). Guess not...
I recently bought a Firestudio and a DigiMax LT. LT won't show in Firestudio computer interface. Do I need an external word clock to make the two compatible?
if i buy one of these does it need external pres as well? also what are other products i can add to my rack to optimise the sound if i buy 1 or 2 of these units?
That depends how many you need. It has 8 pres on it, but if you need more add another 8 each with the digimax FS. There's not much need to buy more than one firestudio for the same rack, but it can be done if I recall.
I wish all the inputs were on the back like the m-audio profire 2626 r the focusrite. That would be cool, 2 on front 6 on the back. =)

The Firepod was changed to FP10 as of last month.
The FireStudio is the step up from the FirePod/FP10.
Check out the presonus website for more info...
I hope this makes things clear.
