Just wanna say i`ve never been a big HD fan.Too much noise and too little everything else. But i see the appeal. However,i`ve been driving jap R bikes forever, and when i tried the Night Rod i got the surprise of a lifetime. That thing was BRUTAL.The torque, actual acceleration.I saw the light. But only for the rod series. The rest of the lineup is still slow and overpriced
Ah sorry there 1REDVEGA don't know what you been smokin but a STOCK V-MAX comes no where close to running in the 8's. I owned a V-Max and now own a V Rod and stock neither will come close to this. They run in the 10's or 11's.
@1REDVEGA Harleys new slogan >> the best at takeing gasonline and turning it into noise without the side effects of speed horsepower or reliability!! LMAO
braindrain...this was not the record run, that is on the other vid, look up Chris Mott. Santa Pod raceway in the UK on Spetember 13/14 2008., a fantasitic achievement! His time was 8.811 seconds at 145.29mph
He has since put a turbovharges on the bike and is getting quicker!
Actually totaltru the VR1000 Harley race motor was 100% Harley designed and built but the VRod motor is a collaboration with Porsche to get the VR1000 streetable as many Harley engineers were working on the new TwinCam motor.
The V-rod is not German made. The V-rod engine is based on the VR1000 racing engine which was a collaborative effort between Porsche and HD. That's why HD went back to Porsche to get assistance in making the engine more street-able. You can find this information pretty much anywhere on the net. Other than that the bike is a HD built machine. Not a big deal but most HD haters like to point out that the V-rod is a Porsche built bike.....but....in isn't. Maybe get some new material.
@totaltru Don't forget that Eric Buell wanted to use the VR1000 but H-D didn't like how it looked so they actually ADDED to the motor's aesthetics to make it more appealing to the eye.
Holy Shit, that was fast.
