This is how I knit. My mum taught me the regular English method, where you lift the yarn over and I thought it was too slow. My grandmother watched me knit and asked why I was doing it that way and showed my how she "flicked" the yarn over and I've been doing it that way since. I knit very fast now and have perfect tension.
I knit just like that too. I don't know where or how I started but I did. I was just at a LYS in my new town and 4 ladies and different times told me I was doing it all wrong and my work would never look even I just smiled and did my thing and in my head thought my work looks better then yours!
This is how I knit; I used to leave the right needle entirely whilst throwing until I saw a few people knit in the style shown in this video. Now I'm just as fast and efficient as the Continental knitters around me. ;)
I'd be interested to see you break down how you purl. I can do a knit stitch like that but cannot work out how to purl (I am usually an english/throw knitter). I am also teaching myself to knit continental style from other youtube videos so that I can do fair isle with both hands at once, one yarn in each hand.
Me, too. It's easier on my hands, faster, and I can control my tension better. Also, when I knit this way, I can feel better what I'm doing, so I don't need to look at my work so much: makes watching television at the same time much easier.
Wow. That's a really cool way to knit. I've always knit the "thrower" way, the English style I believe it's called. I've very recently begun knitting continental. I have a coworker who is a thrower, but with her left hand. And now I see this, which looks like it might actually work for me. It sure looks speedy. I'll try anything if it'll increase the rate at which I can knit socks.

This is exactly like Continental except with the yarn held in the right hand.

I wish I could knit like that.
I've tried a few types of tensioning and flicking/picking and my gauge gets very very tight and prettyf inconsistent.

This was common method used by all women in my family (German household). Nice to see it again.
