I don't know if you know this, swan, but the version of Barco Negro that Dulce Pontes recorded on the album is actually sung with the original lyrics. The song by the same name that Amalia made popular in her day was a rewritten version; a love song. As a matter of fact this IS the "original" version of Solidao.

In 1955 Amalia recorded for "Les amants du Tage " Solidao and Barco negro: both songs had new lyrics , but were old tunes.

The first one was "Cançao do mar" This assertion , as you see , doesn't mean to diminish the crucial Amalia's value as an artist, but just announce a truth.
