  • What a sweetheart! Hope you had fun.

  • Hi Lindsey!

Congrats on your thru hike on the Appalachian Trail!! :-)!

In 2009 I was actually going to do it myself, but I ended up going to WA to climb MT Rainier, it was awesome! :-)!

Anyhow, I just wanted to ask you if you would ever consider hiking The Wonderland Trail? It is only 97 miles around MT Rainier, but it it is great hike!

I hope some day I have the chance to do the APT.

Great videos by the way :-)!!

  • You go girl! I am a male and love solo hikes. Some times I get creeped out but then I think about the fact that I live in the city. Then I know I am safe. There are much more riskier places to be.

  • Did you wind up with the same amount of weight in your pack on the trail?

  • Your sweet

  • you go girl :) im jeleous

  • great video and what a sweet energy you have about your self. stay safe and enjoy..

  • @scprepper55 dude she already finished it. Check out her other vids

  • marry me, your awesome

  • whoa! thinking about doing this, and i'm really nervous. the longest i've hiked and camped was three days. does anyone know a blog and/or website where i can get tips from female thru-hikers! thanks :) and this video was helpful, so i'm thumbing it up.

  • Damn Hover i didnt know you had all these videos on here! now im gonna have to take time out my busy day to watch all of them. see you out on the trail again sometime

  • For everyones info, Lindsay finished ontop of Katadin last week. I for one am happy that she took the time to keep her blog up to date and posted some vids. She is a thru hiker in one season. How many can say they have completed the trail? I have never met her, she has my respect. Those who have nothing nice to say should be quiet.

  • i have hiked the Georgia end from Springer Mountion to Unicoi gap you learn as you go but Bear spray in a good thing to carry better to have it and not need it than half to handle a bear without it its a fun hike enjoy it and carry a low temp sleeping bag the weather in the mountions can change quick and a small dome wont sweat as much as a pup tent and the weights about the same

  • Don't listen some of the geeks below that are hoping to get to puberty one day. At least your out doing it and making videos for people to watch and wish they were hiking. Thums up.

  • what kind of pack do you have here?

  • @darstar217 It's an REI Flash... from this far I can't tell how many liters.

  • Wow you're a little random huh? Suggestion: Write down a few thoughts or talking points and practice connecting the dots between the points before you do your little verbal mind-dump thingy. Feel like this video was edited to x2 speed.

  • Carry as much water as you can. 2011 is a very hot year and springs go dry in the summer heat. I did a commuter hike and did Maryland and Pennsylvania AT in May and June 2011 and it was HOT in the 90s. Hope you had a safe and enjoyable hike.

  • Have fun

  • Good luck

  • @pineboyj, you are a tool. Lean some manners. And anyone healthy enough to be hiking should be able to roll with a 30lb pack. My weapon, armor, and ammo loadout is 30lbs. Hope your trip went well Lindsey!

  • @pinemanj Why don't you show us yours? If so, I'll show you mine plus a little extra..get a life man!

  • @hanslollick93 What, you want to see my cock, faggot?

  • @pinemanj Seriously douche bag, get a life!

  • Make the most of your daylight hrs when the days are long & the trails are low & steady (VA, PA, MD, NJ) because at both ends of the trail the nights come quickly & the fog stops u dead from night hiking. U will prematurely chew up your boots on the annoying rocks of PA; count on it. If u can, have a back up pair, same size & model ready 4u in a box 2b mail dropped ahead of u at your request. Testing a new pair of mystery boots on the trail is a big chance to take & begs a podiatric disaster.

  • Hope your trip was enjoyable. Good for you!

  • By the time you got to the 20 second mark I thought of Burr Oak State Park. I had planned to make the same hike this May but... plans have changed :-(

Good luck on your AT hike.

  • Hi,my name is Red Stick,I thru-hiked last year...from GA to ME.I call the AT the bridge between your former life and your new one....that is once you start heading down Mt. Katahdin. Is a step at the time.keeping a high spirit....keep the world informed of your incredible journey.by the way, what is your trail name?

I have a bunch of videos posted on you Tube as Red Stick AT 2010

  • @torchtreks I only hiked a quarter of the trail last year, and I recall several occasions where I would have been much more comfortable with a means of self defense other than fists and fingernails (and a trekking pole). Hitching, naked man on the trail, unnerving encounters with non hikers, and 7 bear encounters to name a few. My next hike on the AT, concealed carry will be a serious consideration. Otherwise, Definitely a bottle of pepper spray!

  • I know it will all work out for you. You did the shakedown hike, everything after that is mental. Best of Luck.

  • I recommend to any woman hiking alone to carry a lightweight .22 pistol. There are too many nutcases out there.

  • @thekelvin5000 you would be the only "nutcase" I know of out there

  • Good luck and have fun! Post some videos... :D

  • Good Luck.

  • good luck on the trail!

  • I have been thinking about doing sections if you want I can join you for a part in Ct, Mass, VT, NH...

  • I really enjoyed the video. I will be starting about the same time as you headed north. Good luck and maybe we will bump into each other.

  • Good luck this year, I'll be out there as well. Class of 2011 here we come :-p !!!!

  • When are you leaving? I'm leaving the 26th of March.

  • Try storing your water upside down in cold weatherso the ice will on the bottom of your container. Good luck with your hike, take your time and be safe.

  • My first solo overnight was at the age of 43!!! Have had many more in the months that followed and many more to come... A little scary sometimes but always you and the woods... Good Luck!!! I envy you!!! But hope to be in your shoes in a few years!!!

  • Have a great trip. You will find out many things about yourself and the world. On cold nights keep your bottles in your tent and or sleep with them to keep them from freezing. I have had bottles nearly freeze solid after leaving them outside the tent. Enjoy yourself, take the time to enjoy the views, go at your pace.

And the most important thing, Bears dont care how badly you smell.
