  • Is the philangie okay!?

  • what is the fuselage????

  • Ha I was on that flight. That was a super fun experience. (Sarcasm) Wouldn't have been so bad if they had told us what was happening. All we knew was that we were plummeting and no one was telling us anything. My mum was convinced that her pressurised foundation had been the cause of the explosion.

  • Qantas play too much with spirit!!! should have change the title...

  • Gremlins???

    lol

  • nop...it's probably lice of the kangaroo's...don't you agree...

  • fluke incident qantas has never crashed with fatalities!!!! what about american airlines or something who's crashed many times before

  • i think in 2 or 3 weeks qantas had 5 or 6 emergency landings and it came on news allover melborune and their ceo or something resigned after the 4 or 5th emergency.

  • Gremlins! They did it! Those damn gremlins!

  • No they don't!! The bottom line is you know Im right and they have loads of aircrafts which fly just the same as any other aircraft but the Quantas one is painted differently! Simple. Like I said people just react according to how everyone else reacts cos they have no fucking education!

  • Qantas are sell outs Once a Ture Blue Australian airline, Now they get cheep offshore workers

  • Unbelieveable really...people are sheep these days...they just react according to everybody elses reaction! This was a worse situation than the decompression that happened on Ryanair, yet Ryanair got slated so much more than Quantas....just cos there not cheap! Pathetic!

  • I see nobody on this page has anything negative to say about Quantas??? Funny really...when Ryanair had a decompression there were people cursing them until God knows when. Maybe the pax on the Ryanair flight should watch this video and see just how lucky they were cos a hole didnt blow out of their fuselage! And I see nobody is saying anything about the cabin crew!!!

  • Qantas is still one of the safest airlines in the world despite this so i will still be proudly flying with them, and im australian (Y)

  • Same here. Finally, someone who agrees with me...

  • should have bought Airbus

  • @NickSayle airbus have more mechanical failures than boeing

  • The hole is "bugger all"!

I would be more concerned about the deteriorating in-flight service!

  • qantasel on kogu aeg mingi jama lennukitega

  • Could someone tell that 'qont' that it's Qantas, not 'Kontas'. If this moron is ever assigned a story on the royal family, I hope he doesn't refer to Her Majesty as "The Keen".

  • Sky's Mark Stone: newsreaders from China to Brazil pronounced it as Qantas not Kontas, yet this geezer (look at him!) didn't know!

  • I just heard it was one of the planes oxygen tanks that ruptured that ripped open the hole.

  • Did that dude just say "kunt-us"?!! I always thought it was pronounced 'Kwant-us' but I am not an Aussie...

  • It is, they aren't australian.

  • Oh; I thought they (Qantas) were an Aussie carrier, and that they pronounced their company name 'kwant-us'. Thanks for the correction- good to know from someone who knows what they're talking about.

  • I meant the people announcing it aren't. The airline is pronounced kwant-us

  • the PLANE DID NOT DROP. The pilot had to descend to a lower altitude to stop he plane from losing pressure. Dammit the media should really get their facts straight.

The pilot deserves more credit as I'm sure he had more control of the plane than the media suggest.

  • man, it's a no big deal, just duct tape it, and you'll be fine.

  • cpy tht! and dont forget the 'good ole Velcro'

  • Qantas is fast becoming a JOKE!!!

  • lol descent from 40,000ft to 25,000ft... try 29,000ft down to 10,000ft.

As for the comment about the luggage, the luggage can has been ripped open so yes it is luggage you can see.

  • Probably one of the ground crew put a bomb in the luggage compartment.

The ground crews in airports typically are foreigners, and with all the outsourcing going on in the air industry these days, background checks are very shoddy if ever done.

Also look at where the explosion happened, so close to the wing - this was done intentionally.

Luckily the bomb was placed at the wrong area otherwise the whole wing would have come off.

  • boeing wont half get some stick if it is sturctual failure. But it is quite frightening when you hear a crack trust me and the the safest airline is probably thomas cook the worst being probably dhl

  • When at 1:30 he mentions the plane 'dropped'..He fails to say that this is a standard procedure of any jet aircraft (especially passenger) that has lost cabin pressure for any reason. The pilots initiate an immediate decent according to protocol to an altitude which is safer.

  • Finnair?

Qantas is the best, never had a crash.

  • that gaping hole is where the front portion of the right wing-to-body fairing would have been, not a pressurized part of the aircraft. but underneath that is the cargo compartment part of the fuselage, which is. the hole looked like a it was a clean tear, suggesting a structural failure of the aircraft skin.

  • Tuberista

I think you're right on that idea. Looks like the transition section from body to wing tore off. Looks like mechanicals exposed in that area.

  • actulally i think the safest airline in the world is Finnair

  • Maybe the colonials will stop bashing Airbus now and quit the mindless Boeing praise...

    Hole in the fuselage? Hrm.

What matters is that everyone got out safe though. Must have been a terrifying ride.

  • Still the safest airline in the World. God Bless Quantas!!!!

  • luckiest escape i've ever seen, i've watch all series of air crash investigations and this is the supreme escape. go live a good life survivors!

  • It might of been a missile...

  • Holy crap!

  • Shit I catch that flight regularly

  • I can tell you a possible reason, and that is the fact that Qantas is taking their aeroplanes for schedule maintenance overseas such as Singapore or Hong Kong where a great deal short cuts are taken relating to fuselage inspection. Is another way of cost cutting and putting more money in executives pockets. You might remember that about 2 years ago Qantas got rid off its heavy maintence facility in Sydney and that's why before that you wouldn't have heard or seen such problems. Thanks Geoff Dix

  • how could this happens ?

  • Yep , that was a bumpy ride .....
