When I first saw the movie Kelly's Heroes I KNEW i'd heard that song before. One of those nagging things in the back of my mind finally settled. thanks. Now I know why. Donny does a great job, but I think for the movie, the song was better with a group singing it-- it was like the men in the movie were singing.
Hi Cheryl, glad you like the song too. Mike Curb arranged it for Donny as well as for his group called "Mike Curb Congregation" for the movie "Kelly's Heroes".
Hi Glcfordco, you are very welcome. This song came from his first album "The Donny Osmond album" which has other hits like "Sweet and Innocent", "I'm your puppet", "Wake up little Susie".
My husband actually knew this song because of the Kellys Hero film. Not my style of film at all. Pretty sure Ive got Wake Up Little Susie on Portrait of Donny.
Hi Musicluvr1958, this is the theme song from the movie "Kelly's Heroes". Mike Curb and Schifrin wrote and produced this song. But for the movie, it is sung by someone else with a different type of beat and arrangement. I think Mike Curb's has his own congretation to perform this song for the movie.
FYI, Mike Curb arranges most of the music for Donny's LP's and I wished he had featured Donny's version for the movie as that would been so nice!
Bob Summers who was partners with Mike Curb did a lot of the recording and engineering on many of The Osmonds songs including this one. A little bit of lost history but the truth none the less.
Hi luvdonnyo, you are very welcome, glad you like the song. I think it would have been great too if Mike Curb, the guy who arranges the song for Donny, had rearranged the music to allow Donny's version to be in the movie "Kelly's Heroes".
Marie had the deeper voice
Just like Sonny & Cher

I agree with you Chipnall. Before Donny's voice changed, it was much higher than Marie. Also, Donny has a more dynamic range than Marie.

I'm glad you posted this. The irony is that Mike Curb's "Congregation" version is probably the most well known version because of Kelly's Heroes.

Mike Curb arranged this song for Donny's album. If only he arranged a separate version for Donny to be used in "Kelly's Heroes", it would be so nice!

This was the first album anyone ever gave me that wasn't a Disney soundtrack - I played this song over and over. I still love it.
