This form is to be kept secret! Any `master´ who allows to film it in public or demonstrate it in front of an audience proofs one thing: he hasnt understood it and does it in an unappropriate way though. If you want to see, how proper this form is to be done, you have to take private-lessons and enjoy the single movements in a slowest way of practise. Actually, I have used my Wing Chun in real situations and have actually used it against the other Wing Chun fighters. Like I said, I've trained modified practitioners for years in Cheung's principles and NEVER has one of the modified practitioners returned to the old principles and NEVER have they ever beat one of my students of equal training time when they came through the door. I've had the real world experience and all your frantic cursing can't change it. I'll pray for you.
Complete dumbass?!?! Really? My comments come from years of training many wing chun practitioners with many years in other versions of Wing Chun and training them in Cheung's style. My comments do not come from trying to develop an argument from web trash. And not once has a modified practitioner even come close to beating one of my students. I don't have to read a bunch of web trash to justify what I know to be true. Good luck with your biased sources. I'll rely on hands-on evidence.
Yup. If you believe that Ip Man deliberately trained people like Wong Shun Leung watered-down crap for decades, but favored one arrogant newbie teenager above all others, then yes....you are a complete dumbass. A moron. A credulous, gullible sucker.
Name calling immature attacks on people that you don't know, have obviously never fought and and we're the gullible credulous suckers? Right? Brother, just train your own system and be happy. But obviously you have a bunch of insecure baggage. Touch hands with one of Cheung's students and then decide. It should be no problem for such an expert.
Never said I was an expert. I'm ok...nothin' special. But that's besides the point.
THE POINT is that William Cheung lies about what he teaches & where it comes from. THE POINT is that William Cheung insults the character of his sifu, insults his fellow students, insults the skills of all the rest of us, and lies to naive, trusting students (including you).
& even if I did kick the snot out of Cheungs best student, it'd be the same lame excuses..."Slippery shoes! He jumped me from behind! Cheung's guy really won, but the tape was edited!"
Pathetic.
You're all just a bunch of cultists faithfully swallowing whatever Kool-Aid Cheung serves up.
Frankly, I love the fact so many try to denounce Cheung and his system. At the end of the day, if GM Cheung's fighters prove to be the better fighters amongst the Wing Chun clans (and they have on numerous occasions), then GM Cheung must get the credit for developing a better system if he supposedly fabricated it...right? All the GM wanted to do was to give credit where credit was due...to his grandmaster. Can't have it both ways. Either Yip Man or Cheung gets credit, you decide.
Frankly, I love the fact so many try to defend the indefensible. At the end of the day, the only real fight Cheung's known to have been in is the one with Emin Boztepe...the one he didn't win. But what about his "superior" system? Obviously, he & his gay little system are demonstrably inferior - he failed to beat a guy who was, at the time, an entry-level Leung Ting student. The "GrandMaster"...the "Ultimate Fighter" couldn't beat a Leung Ting amateur.
Oh yeah. More web trash...ask to see the whole vid. Didn't you ever wonder why it was so hacked up. I have seen the unedited version. There was a CIRCLE around Cheung and Boztepe attacked him from behind. Cheung lost his footing because he was wearing the old kung fu slippers. That is why he only holds his lessons wearing sneakers today and with the students IN FRONT OF HIM. You and I know Boztepe was censored for his dishonorable blind attack.
Bullshit. If the "unedited tape" existed, it would be online. There would be a link to it right next to EVERY discussion concerning the fight. But there's not. Not one.
There is no unedited tape. Prove me wrong.
Besides, after ALL the shit William Cheung talked, he had NO excuses whatsoever for anything less than handing Boztepe a completely one-sided asskicking, which he totally failed to do.
Frankly, I love the fact so many try to denounce Cheung and his system. Not only did Cheung fail in his boast to beat "anyone, anywhere, anytime", but only an idiot would believe that Ip Man taught ALL of his students wrong on purpose except for one newbie, arrogant teenager who was only around for a few years. Only a complete dumbass would believe something so unbelievable stupid.
BTW, it's a well-known tradition among the Chinese that a system was only handed down to select individuals because the best fighting forms were considered heirlooms. It wasn't unusual for bastardized forms to be taught to outsiders or even to the kwai-lo (white devils). Before disregarding Cheung's claims, you should also evaluate Chinese history to see how many systems were modified to diminish their effectiveness.
Wrong. That's an excuse made up after the fact. None of Cheung's story makes any sense. It's a stupid fantasy...his story reads like a piece of Mary Sue fan-fiction. Only kids & idiots believe it.
Good luck to you brother. You obviously have some unresolved baggage with regard to Cheung. Or you're just so insecure about what you've learned or are teaching that you have a desperate need to validate what you're doing. If you're confident that what you're doing is right then continue to train or teach what you believe is right. That's the right way to get your truth out. And over time, as more people touch hands with Cheung's students the truth will be brought to light.
Frankly, I love the fact so many try to denounce Cheung and his system. Well, I think a real martial artist don't tell bad things about the others fighters, especially when they are in a same style. Leung Ting live to tell bad things about the grandmaster William Cheung and about every style or stylist. It's a shame! Every martial arts are good! There's not a invencible or perfect style, or prefect teacher!
@feihung34 Wing chun is a science, not an interpretive dance. Although there may be more than one correct answer, things are either correct or not correct. In science, we don't have to respect everybody's opinion like in kindergarten. We only respect the truth.
Honestly, it's just a form people, I know people have their own opinions on Cheung, but isn't it a little fickle to just pick out pieces and say it's sloppy or wouldn't work. Forms are just bases for learning techniques, not everything has to be done at hyper speed and really shouldn't. Learn your principles and technique, apply them, and continue studying. Everyone is just critical because of their own ego in assuming they know more then someone else, just be humble and love the art.
What's with the part where he jumps up and spins around turning his back to the opponent? That is not exactly staying with the principles of facing the opponent and rooting. This guy is a fucking liar anyway. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. If you believe his bullshit, Yip Man was a liar who taught everyone but this asshole, fake Wing Chun.
@WingChunLover2 William Cheung is a fucking liar, but he's not stupid. He knows how to market himself. You on the other hand are a complete useless fucktard if you actually believe him. Answer me this. Have you ever actually used your Wing Chun in a real situation? In the ring or on the street? I have and the guys I train with have also. The system works. Cheung's bullshit Wing Chun landed him on the ground and he was pummeled by Emin Boztepe, so FUCK YOU!
Nice to see someone who knows what the hell they're talking about. Cheung is sooooo OBVIOUSLY full of shit, only a completely gullible dumbass believes his story.
This WingChunLover2 guy has truly overdosed on the Kool-Aid. Doesn't matter what you say or what evidence you present, doesn't matter that ALL of Ip's other students denouce Cheung, doesn't matter that there's ZERO evidence for any of Cheungs gay-ass story, he remains faithful...like a good little cultist should.
@hulkout666 funny how niggas who arnt even into the scene feel they can comment about shit they have never studied and know nothing about. Your pathetic and id beat the living shit out of you.....
@WingChunLover2 Yeah, well maybe I'll just come and kill you and your whole family, or maybe not. It's so easy to just write whatever we want here. If I saw you on the street, you would run away. Cause you're just another pussy with a keyboard and too much time. Or, maybe your in stuck in prison??
A lot of masters get into the habit of doing their stuff very sloppy. They get away with it because people say he's a master and it's okay. If he's making it for it in other ways...why not just add sharp, crisp and fast movements...won't it just get better? They get LAZY. That's why they get their ass kicked. Like this guy did by Boztep.
hahahaha this is actually hilarious. I have never seen anything so ridiculous. If you believe this to be wing chun of any kind, other than one created by this man himself, then shame on you. Someone please try to explain how spinning your weapons, or how jump spinning has anything remotely to do with wing chun?
@ozzie1246 Let's just say that none of the WT/VT students I've taught continue to hold on to those versions. And I've never had one of them quit after starting with us because they felt we were inferior or untruthful The truth always stands on its own and we have no deep seated need to impose our version on others. Please feel free to continue to train your version of WC. I have no problem with you learning the principles and techniques of your version, why do you have a problem with us?
There are many families of Wing-Chun movement,..including cross-over styles like wing-chun/hung-gar,..etc.'! ALL movement is good if it is both defensive & offensive (which this form style is!) I love all of the variations! Just because it isn't 'thee' Original, or it's different, doesn't mean it's wrong/bad!,..LOL'! Lots of 'different' models/styles of cars since the old model-T Ford,.. but they ALL have wheels/motor and WORK! Waaah'!
You have got a point there. It's only annoying when some of all those new WC/WT/VT-schools claim to be original, when its obvious they are not - or at least not in the way they stress. This is of course not pointed to master Cheung. But I would like to hold against WingChunGuy01 that if Yip Man ever would have teached a second Bart Cham Dao form it can hardly have looked like this. Confere it to the other form... Which seems closer to our WT/WC/VT principles?
You're missing the point here man. If Cheung just did something different that would be cool. But the problem people have with him is not that he's simply doing something different, it's that he claims to be the only person Ip Man taught "real" Wing Chun to...Cheung says Ip deliberately trained everyone else wrong except for him, because only he was good enough. That's insulting to the character of Ip Man, & insulting to WC practitioners everywhere. And it's simply not true.
@TwoGunGunnar , well if that is true, then I agree with you! All Wing-Chun families are 'real' and good fighting styles. I can't believe that he was thee' 'only' one that got the real teaching from Yip Man,..lol! That reminds me of the comedy/kung-fu movie "Kung-Pow" ,..."pay no attention to Whimp Lo, we trained him wrong, as a joke!"
Yeah dude, it's ludicrous sounding, right? I mean, it's FACE-PALMINGLY STUPID, but that's what Cheung claims, and people actually believe him!
Recently, somebody put up a website dedicated to discussing the whole Cheung-issue. There's some interesting stuff on it, & I wish more Wing Chun people could hear this stuff. Respect is important, but it's just as important to not let con-men get away with lying to naive, innocent people. I'll PM you the link.
The concept of guarding the central line is similar to japanese kendo. But I wonder butterfly knife has the power to block much heavier japanese sword. The close combat property of the butterfly knivies in the hands of a wing chun master is a very deadly weapon to fight against longer length weapons.
I would think you can learn something from any form or style, no matter how dubious you believe it's effectiveness to be, a form is merely a way to practice movement, so that along with your knowledge of anatomy, you can place the appropriate move to the best spots. Spinning the blade and baulking, whilst a little waist of energy, can help you distract your opponent or set up your next attack/defense.
I guess 20 years of Wing Chun and 10 years of teaching it gives me enough wisdom to see that those posting derogatory comments, really have no understanding of Wing Chun, Kung Fu, or common sense. I wont bother pointing out your errors or correcting your stupid criticisms. Your character and lack of respect is here for all to see. Were you intelligent enough, you would all be ashamed of yourselves.
Then you should know that it's not ok to boast that you're better than your kung fu brothers, or insult the character of your sifu, or insult the skills of fellow martial artists, or make excuses when you lose a fight.
Cheung has done, and continues to do, all of these things. The lack of respect Cheung has shown for his sifu, his former classmates, and the rest of us in the Ip Man lineage is disgusting. You should be ashamed of him.
G' Day the preformer is William Cheung he claims to be a grandmaster of Wing Chun, but truth is he did train under Yip Man but as a Kid from age 10 17(so he learned kids Kung fu), so this is why his style does not resemble the other Yip Man pupils like Lueng Ting or Yip Mans son Yip Chun. He never learned the proper forms because he was teenager when he left to study in Australia.
(THIS IS A KEY FACT FEW OF HIS PUPILS FAILED TO UNDERSTAND OR QUESTION)
Of course they do not resemble Leung Ting or Yip Chun's style. THANK GOD.
"He learned kids' Kung Fu"??? you mean, as opposed to Leung Ting or Yip Chun who might as well cut their arms and legs off doing whatever a kid would do if they got a pair of B. Swords from Santa?
1st and 2nd generation students of Yip Man know there were at least two different forms of WC taught by Yip Man. Wong Shun Leung verifies this. Cheung was taught the form not taught to many others if any. The original developers of WC were creating a system that could be taught to men, women, AND CHILDREN in 3 -5 years. Cheung was a live-in student for 7 years and learned both forms. To avoid the controversy, Cheung could teach the other from but chooses this one. He feels its truer.
If Yip Man ever would have teached a second Bart Cham Dao form it can hardly have looked like this. Confere it to the other form... Which seems closer to WT/WC/VT principles?
Wong Shun Leung does not verify this. Go to William Cheung's Wikipedia page, scroll down to "External Links" & click on "VTAA letter". You'll find a formal statement denouncing Cheung, refuting all his stupid claims, and signed by 13 men...men including Wong Shun Leung, Ip Ching, Ip Chun, Victor Kan, Chu Shong Tin, & Ho Kam Ming, among others.
Actually, he didn't even start at age 10. He started later, around the age of 14 or 15, just shortly before Bruce Lee. So he had a MAXIMUM of 3.5 years training at Ip's school, and even then his classmates describe his training as "intermittent", which means he was one of thos guys that only shows up to class once in a while. We have some people like that at my school - you never know when they're going to show up, & guess what, they're not very good. He's one of those guys.
It's the best way to do it correctly, to teach to other people and it's more difficult, if you do it very fast you can have errors but you won't see them.
There is no best. We are all cut from the same cloth. The bickering that we continue to create over who's interpretations are better makes us all look very stupid. We practice the same style of fighting with variations created by our lineage to compensate for what they "felt" was either missing or for moves in the original form they did not learn or could not accomplish. None the less we are all remnants of the original. NO BEST EXISTS. One Art to DESTROY THE REST. This is the art of WING CHUN.
i think you just made the point for me..."variations created by our lineage to compensate for what they "felt" was either missing or for moves in the original form they did not learn or could not accomplish."
Where are all the videos by other Wing Chun masters doing the sword form? Cheung appears to be the only one on utube performing the sword form of Wing Chun, if you know it please post it.
haha believe what you hear, but if he did spend much time with yip man and was very close to him, then he must not have been a very bright student. Look at the dates for his practice, he was a 14 year old kid. When did he move to Australia........
where did the sword form in wing chun come from. we know that it was added much later along with the pole. why do you chritisiz him he is odviosly better than luen ting.
ledqohan William Cheung lived under Yip Mans roof. A fact acknowledeged by Yip Man family members. What do you not like about the form? and if you know another way how long were you living with Yip Man? or am I being unfair?
You must not practice wingchun at all. If you did you would realize that wingchun teaches against this type of thinking toward any art. This form is authentic. Wing Chun Butterfly form was double sword form modified just for wingchun by its masters. Therefore for a wingchun master to modify the form is within his rights. Furthermore at this Point, William Chueng is one of the few REAL wingchun masters. Words can be lies... But skill speaks for itself.
its a form, performed by a man in his sixties. Were you expecting to be impressed? If it is the real thing you clearly haven't recognized it and if its not why give it your time? How many of you posting comments were alive in the 1950s when William Cheung was learning the techniques he is demonstrating?
Oh - you know this do you? How? Did you ever see Yip Man do the BS form? Thought Not. Gee, I wonder who lives in a self inveted fantasy world? Seems like the pigeon toed Wing Chun people really have no manners, and a severe inferiority complex (Not surprising considering ...)
you your self seem to have no manners going off like that and called wing chun people "pigeon toed" not all wing chun is in that stance like my linige is all done in a front stance. both you and wing chun world are being rude, before you comment please think about what you are saying. everyone is intitled to their own opinion. just not everyone wants to hear it.
Your reply is a shame on our master Yip Man. Your judgments have no place in WingChun. His form works for his students, yours may work for you. You should go practice modesty and respect instead of posting.
@antoine9891 your attitude is the best of the wing chun peoples i've met i train under grandmaster Cheung and had so many peoples disrespect him on youtube for no reason, i dont look at other Wing Chun forms and say they are useless i look at what would be helpfull to me and practise because at the end we have the same martial art, it was just taught different by Grandmaster Ip Man.
Why need Yip Man to show? Look to the forms of masters like Wong Shun Leung, Lok Yiu etc. The knife form of Wong Shun Leung is clean without fantasy. Wong Shun Leung trained in the same period as William Cheung. The Ving Tsun of WSL is much more logical, same as Wong Kiu, Leung Shueng and Lok Yiu. This man is fantasy. Movements (twirling) have nothing to do with Wing Chun, against all logic, principles and other forms.
looks more like a wushu dance than a real demonstration of wing chun Bart Cham Dao (EIGHT sections of a knive form)... I dunno why he keeps on rotating the knives like a wheel... harder on a heavier knive..
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!! tillerbear you read my mind, the minute I went to scroll down to write that exact comment I saw you had already posted it. LOL!

TwoGunGunnar 1 year ago
@TwoGunGunnar
WingChunGuy01 1 year ago
@WingChunGuy01

Either Yip Man gets credit or Cheung gets credit., you decide

@WingChunGuy01
TwoGunGunnar 1 year ago
@TwoGunGunnar
WingChunGuy01 1 year ago
@WingChunGuy01

I agree completely, and that is why William Cheung is NOT a real martial artist.

The jumping part is used explicitly against a long pole or dragon pole. Where it makes sense to close the gap.
No need to go into character assassinations over this.

A disgraceful sham

@ozzie1246 Let's just say that none of the WT/VT students I've taught continue to hold on to those versions. And I've never had one of them quit after starting with us because they felt we were inferior or untruthful The truth always stands on its own and we have no deep seated need to impose our version on others. Please feel free to continue to train your version of WC. I have no problem with you learning the principles and techniques of your version, why do you have a problem with us?
WingChunGuy01 1 year ago
There are many families of Wing-Chun movement,..including cross-over styles like wing-chun/hung-gar,..etc.'! ALL movement is good if it is both defensive & offensive (which this form style is!) I love all of the variations! Just because it isn't 'thee' Original, or it's different, doesn't mean it's wrong/bad!,..LOL'! Lots of 'different' models/styles of cars since the old model-T Ford,.. but they ALL have wheels/motor and WORK! Waaah'!
ChineseOpera8 2 years ago
You have got a point there. It's only annoying when some of all those new WC/WT/VT-schools claim to be original, when its obvious they are not - or at least not in the way they stress. This is of course not pointed to master Cheung. But I would like to hold against WingChunGuy01 that if Yip Man ever would have teached a second Bart Cham Dao form it can hardly have looked like this. Confere it to the other form... Which seems closer to our WT/WC/VT principles?
2Fell 2 years ago
@ChineseOpera8
TwoGunGunnar 1 year ago
@TwoGunGunnar , well if that is true, then I agree with you! All Wing-Chun families are 'real' and good fighting styles. I can't believe that he was thee' 'only' one that got the real teaching from Yip Man,..lol! That reminds me of the comedy/kung-fu movie "Kung-Pow" ,..."pay no attention to Whimp Lo, we trained him wrong, as a joke!"
ChineseOpera8 1 year ago
@ChineseOpera8

The close combat property of the butterfly knivies in the hands of a wing chun master is a very deadly weapon to fight against longer length weapons.
hk96006345 2 years ago
I would think you can learn something from any form or style, no matter how dubious you believe it's effectiveness to be, a form is merely a way to practice movement, so that along with your knowledge of anatomy, you can place the appropriate move to the best spots. Spinning the blade and baulking, whilst a little waist of energy, can help you distract your opponent or set up your next attack/defense.
Novagorum 2 years ago
I guess 20 years of Wing Chun and 10 years of teaching it gives me enough wisdom to see that those posting derogatory comments, really have no understanding of Wing Chun, Kung Fu, or common sense. I wont bother pointing out your errors or correcting your stupid criticisms. Your character and lack of respect is here for all to see. Were you intelligent enough, you would all be ashamed of yourselves.
sifuphil1 2 years ago 2
@sifuphil1
TwoGunGunnar 1 year ago
hi all... our knife form is different to this, but I have seen this version before.
Does anyone know what lineage this form originated?
bax2079 3 years ago
G' Day the preformer is William Cheung he claims to be a grandmaster of Wing Chun, but truth is he did train under Yip Man but as a Kid from age 10 17(so he learned kids Kung fu), so this is why his style does not resemble the other Yip Man pupils like Lueng Ting or Yip Mans son Yip Chun. He never learned the proper forms because he was teenager when he left to study in Australia.
(THIS IS A KEY FACT FEW OF HIS PUPILS FAILED TO UNDERSTAND OR QUESTION)
getsomethinggood 2 years ago
Of course they do not resemble Leung Ting or Yip Chun's style. THANK GOD.
"He learned kids' Kung Fu"??? you mean, as opposed to Leung Ting or Yip Chun who might as well cut their arms and legs off doing whatever a kid would do if they got a pair of B. Swords from Santa?
SihingAngelica 2 years ago 3
1st and 2nd generation students of Yip Man know there were at least two different forms of WC taught by Yip Man. Wong Shun Leung verifies this. Cheung was taught the form not taught to many others if any. The original developers of WC were creating a system that could be taught to men, women, AND CHILDREN in 3 -5 years. Cheung was a live-in student for 7 years and learned both forms. To avoid the controversy, Cheung could teach the other from but chooses this one. He feels its truer.

@getsomethinggood

This is the art of WING CHUN.

cruse9 4 years ago 3
You must not practice wingchun at all. If you did you would realize that wingchun teaches against this type of thinking toward any art. This form is authentic. Wing Chun Butterfly form was double sword form modified just for wingchun by its masters. Therefore for a wingchun master to modify the form is within his rights. Furthermore at this Point, William Chueng is one of the few REAL wingchun masters. Words can be lies... But skill speaks for itself.
antoine9891 3 years ago
its a form, performed by a man in his sixties. Were you expecting to be impressed? If it is the real thing you clearly haven't recognized it and if its not why give it your time? Your reply is a shame on our master Yip Man. Your judgments have no place in WingChun. His form works for his students, yours may work for you. You should go practice modesty and respect instead of posting.
antoine9891 3 years ago 22
@antoine9891 your attitude is the best of the wing chun peoples i've met i train under grandmaster Cheung and had so many peoples disrespect him on youtube for no reason, i dont look at other Wing Chun forms and say they are useless i look at what would be helpfull to me and practise because at the end we have the same martial art, it was just taught different by Grandmaster Ip Man.
MrSinantra 1 year ago 3
Like you know anything at all about Yip Man. It is a pity Utube doesn't censor idiots.
sifuphil1 2 years ago
Why need Yip Man to show? Look to the forms of masters like Wong Shun Leung, Lok Yiu etc. The knife form of Wong Shun Leung is clean without fantasy. Wong Shun Leung trained in the same period as William Cheung. The Ving Tsun of WSL is much more logical, same as Wong Kiu, Leung Shueng and Lok Yiu. This man is fantasy. Movements (twirling) have nothing to do with Wing Chun, against all logic, principles and other forms.
