ok, since you're retarded i'm just going to have to explain it to you very slowly. That ship is like 100 thousand tons right? acording to your theory it wouldn't even float. These ships are designed to even go through this rogue waves. for a wave to turn over a ship it needs to have its longer side facing the wave. if ithe ship were facing the wave that same wave wouldn't be tal enough to turn it over itself so the ship would have to go over or through the wave

you can actually see the ship trying to turn into the wave (because the front of the ship begins to slowly point towards the wave)

though realistically, there wouldn't be enough time to turn into the wave, so basically, the ship's side was facing the wave, so it was screwed.

by the way, (SPOILER ALERT), another wave in the movie topples a full-size super-carrier.. so this ship wouldn't have faired well at all.

I understand, but that is not my point. I was trying to say that this ship would have been abble of surviving if it were with the bow facing the wave. And regarding the S.S. John F. Kennedy (the super carrier), at that point the wave was much bigger so you can't really establish a comparison

Again it is not a matter of militar/non militar ship. it's a matter of sheer size, and on that point the liner beats the carrier

You are sort of true, ships are designed to tilt to a certain angle and correct itself back up, but with all the furniture and passengers sliding to one side, I'm guessing thats enough to through the ship off balance.

@cunardliners it wouldn't be necessary all of that to turn over the ship if it's side were facing the wave, but if it were the bow facing the wave that same wave would have to be as big as the ship's lenght to turn it over. it's basic fisics

@cunardliners apparently most ships are designed to list up to 55 degrees, after this point they won't right themselves...this is true for major liners, like oasis of the seas etc.. however i think this wave is defiantly substantial enough to topple the ship
