John Lennon might have been the most significant song writer of the last century, with Imagine being his "crown jewel." David's voice with all its power and dynamics captures the song as it was meant to be sung. However its his innocence that does it for me. Only a child can dream and believe that a perfect world exists, and its that emotion that makes DA's version of "Imagine" work.

He just lacks a warm quality, sure he has a good range, but his voice doesn't grab you. It's like when Nuno Bettencourt (look him up) plays guitar; he's a prodigy, but he doesn't rate high with critics because he's just playing...
Robert Plant's, Lennon's, Jimi Hendrix's, Lou Reed's, Joe Strummer's, Anthony Keidis' (spelling?) They had (or have) awesome voices that are extremely emotional. My main problem with David is that he has a great range, but he just sings, he doesn't emote. Lou Reed always just added a little bit. David's young though, so he might grow into his voice, at least mentally.
If David doesn't emote,why is it that the audience is so emotionally overwhelmed by him . The reason his performance on AI of "Imagine" was so well received was not just because he sang it well, it was the emotional connection he had with the song which was felt by the audience. Look at him when he sings right here. You don't think he's feeling this song?

The Obama administration needs to invite David Archuleta needs to sing Imagine at the Inauguration. Nobody can sing this song as beautiful as he does. Younger generation hope by a beautiful role model and voice. Breathless. :)

I was there and I know he was not lip synching, he is a great singer and is about time people start seing him for who he is, a great artist that will not go away any time soon. He has accomplish so much in such a little time. David I'm so glad I got to sing Happy Birthday to you, that night.

Look and listen. Consider that your computer has video/audio problems or delays. David doesn't need to lip sync. It would be nice to see an entire message board without that question...

Lip syching??? Didn't they watch AI??? If he would be lip syching he would be the worlds best because he can talk and thank people in the middle of a song. (Crush, same day), and not miss a beat. I don't think you can program that into a lip synch??A little humor. DOUBTERS HE IS AMAZING, just admit it!!!

He just lacks a warm quality, sure he has a good range, but his voice doesn't grab you. It's like when Nuno Bettencourt (look him up) plays guitar; he's a prodigy, but he doesn't rate high with critics because he's just playing...

Robert Plant's, Lennon's, Jimi Hendrix's, Lou Reed's, Joe Strummer's, Anthony Keidis' (spelling?) They had (or have) awesome voices that are extremely emotional. My main problem with David is that he has a great range, but he just sings, he doesn't emote. Lou Reed always just added a little bit. David's young though, so he might grow into his voice, at least mentally.

If David doesn't emote,why is it that the audience is so emotionally overwhelmed by him . The reason his performance on AI of "Imagine" was so well received was not just because he sang it well, it was the emotional connection he had with the song which was felt by the audience. Look at him when he sings right here. You don't think he's feeling this song?

No one can measure up to David in vocals or character. It's hard to remember that he's just 17. Hey blisskasden, internet anonymity brings out the worst in a (thankfully) few people who have real life problems, a political agenda, a beef, etc. Nothing any site can do about it, but it's best just to ignore the fringe completely. Walmart is often sold out because they are the only store with the "Works for Me" bonus track. Best to order on line from Walmart - you don't want to miss that track :)

This is one of my favorite songs, and I love Lennon's sing of it, but I absolutely adore the hopefulness David puts in the song. It's what made me (and a lot of others) into lifelong fans of David's.
