@LegoNXTman You know this? I didn't write that as there is no sound due to background music when I filmed, for which I do not own copyright and is distracting over the multiple cuts. You say I sped it up, but look at the way the loose items move. Also this isn't truck trial, it is only climbing 3 bricks in a series of steps. It just isn't geared down massively as the Stalwart is a high mobility vehicle, not a rock crawler....
please can you show me how to make it because its well cool i just love it plus where did you get the wheels and suspension from what motor does it have and does it have a gear box.
Enjoyable video more realistic than the one made of Meccano also viewable at least this Lego model is far closer to the real thing than anything else. Nice with 4 wheel steering and one axle drive all made of lego plus an Lego electromotor.
i love how the wheel actually moves in the way the truck moved if you put a little lego man inside it will look so much better this is much better than those things they put on tv those lego build things that you manually have to move
Great vehicle. I love the independent tatra-like suspension, its moving ability and the look of old, good technic sets from 80s. What gearing do you have in it, and what about the weight of the model?
Thanks, gearing is 3:1 but this is easy to change. I'm not sure of weight - I've taken it apart to make some changes I think will improve it, when I get it rebuilt, I'll give that a weigh - it will lighter, I just won't know how much!
excellent! very cleverly built, bet it won't float like a real one....all those holes! can you build a Saracen next, I have a real one of those, and would love to see a working lego model of one.
How long did it take you to build your model Stawart?
Thanks, I did look at building the Saracen but there is no way of getting the motor in the right place. The other thing is that it is a much more complex form, the only tricky part on the Stalwart was the cab. I think you're right about the floating, I'd need to put a lot of foam in the chassis!
Thanks. Bevels and UJs are unavoidable, they are both used in the transmission of the real thing in the same way, so no choice there. The other thing to remember is that all torque is shared over the 6 wheel stations when the central diff is locked. This model is also quite fast so the actual amount of torque going through the transmission is less than that of a dedicated rock crawler type model.
I now that you made the film faster and that's the ground that you hasn't sound. Why you don't wrote that, bacause this model is nice.:/

Nice job i love the drive mechanism. And the torque to speed balance is perfect.
lunchbox147 2 years ago
you should have geared it down a small bit for more torque

Nah, I built it to be fast

Very good MOC! The suspension reminds me of one from tatra. Did you use new shorter u joints in steered wheels?
Zblj1987 2 years ago
Thanks, I made my own version of the new type using broken old UJs as I didn't want to buy new ones - they work the same, only they cost nothing!

Indeed really nice truck. But I don't like bevel gears and u-joints - they are weak.
