you are right, for my big trip I went on a GS100. To be honest (even if it doesn't sound very cool) the longer I ride the more I like smaller bikes.
They are cheaper, easier to pick up, better for Offroad, and more fun. On a big trip I'd rather make sure to have plenty of time, so speed doesn't matter.
So I would go rather on the F650GS around the world then on a R100 GS or even the 1200 GS. I guess the new 800 GS would be a nice option too but beyond our budget....
Interesting videos, thanks for posting. Looking at the first video I'm guessing you did your mammoth 14 month trip on a R100 GS. Overall, how does the F650 GS compare with your old bike? Which would you recommend for a round the world trip?
... and thats what we plan: May 2011 we will set off for a RTW on 2 F650GS.
