hey thats a major bummer. Did you get it out ok. That was the hobbyzone super cub right? you said that the batteries last 30 min.!!!!!!i was looking at getting one, so thats great
No, this is the lod Hanger 9 ARF that was designed for a glow engine. They are not made any more. This one is 109" wing span. A LOT larger and very different than the HobbyZone.
The struts were optional in this version of the plane - not required for structural support. We were in a hurry to get it in the air so we didnt put them on.
That can vary a lot depending on the details of the setup. This particular model and power system could easily fly 15 to 20 minutes the way we were doing it in the video.
I like the way you fly, it is very smooth. I have a HobbyZone Super cub and i wish i could fly it that smoothly. Where are you flying, it looks like a beautiful place?
This one is a good bit larger than the Hobby Zone Cub. That helps a lot for smooth flying. The pilot - Rich - is also a very good flyer - despite the crash at the end :) We fly with the Kitsap ARCS club in Port Orchard, Washington.
Well, the best thins to do is practice so you dont encounter a nosedive. I found that when I first started off, nosedives were a result in me becoming disoriented with a steep turn or not being able to tell how the plane was flying. But if you are in a nosedive, I usually tried half throttle and elevator or aileron to correct for the steep turn.
Larry, great video. Excuse the critical nature of YouTube responders. I love your Cub & your video. Couldn't care less about a misspelled word...not enough to make a globally visible comment on it. I have two of the HobbyZone electric Super Cubs and my son and I love them. I'm very interested in knowing about your plane...it looks very scale, seems to fly quite smoothly. Questions: Cost, ARF or kit, 3 or 4 channels, radio, NiMH or LiPo? Thanks again from one Piper "Club" lover to another.
This is the Hanger9 ARF. It was discontinued a while back. The motor was a Tango 45-08 running on 10S lipos at around 1500 watts or so. We were running full flaps and useing 7 chanels.
Oh What?

Too much rudder in the turns. The Cub will snap-roll/tip stall on you if you're not careful!!

Are you flying this plane with the radio that came with the plane? (3 Channel) Or, are you flying with your own higher channel radio?

I fly RC planes and I like watching your smooth looking plane fly. Curious...What was it that caused the sudden loss of control?
IIIwindrunner 4 years ago
Nice smooth manuevers..Looks like at the end, a little bit of disorientation and right to the nose dive. Been there many times before myself lol

What are you supposed to do in a nosedive???? can you save the plane???

There are better trainers for beginners, but they are not bad.
