  • this Coach was ranked 60 in the world as a player! his name is gilad bloom! Anyone who disparages him you can show a little respect!

  • this crossover shouldn't be practiced like this. the crossover step is something you don't train intentionally, because it does have one major downside. if your opponent sees you do it too much, he will play two shots in a row to the same corner and that will completely wrong foot you if you do a crossover step every single time. that is why it must be a natural thing to do, only in the correct circumstances, and shouldn't be mechanized to the point that you do it every single time.

  • i thought this was about a tennis lesson...just saying..

  • @smswaff1 so what is it then?

  • More Tennistips check my account

  • "If you don't have a good ready position...you will simply not be ready."

  • I will feel as if i might trip but this is good

  • thank you for your vdo i am thailand

  • lol i love all the haters posting here, nothing but trolls. If you know how to play tennis, and you are good at it, you would say that this guy is good. The guy knows how to play, period. If you disagree, then I am sure you suck badly at tennis.

  • @jiggaluv123 you're exactly right. You can tell by his shots that this guy is a player. The only thing I would add to this drill is the split step when he recovers to the cone.

  • he is a joke!!!

  • For some reason, he appearance is like that of a Pete sampras/ Agassi hybrid.

  • @rooksaiz

the bald head of Agassi + the eyebrows of Sampras!

  • I disagree on the backhand footwork drill.

2:45 Left foot is already anchored he should push off with that foot then cross his right leg behind his left leg and start doing side steps.

His drill REQUIRES you to step out wide with your right leg which is adding steps that are unneeded..

I agree with kinnikinnik on watching pro's do foot work during matches. Watch many different pros and look for a common ground they share.

  • Ok....time for me to chime in...in almost every case, mo matter what the shot, if you are on the outside of the court and need to get back....the first foot that should step, (and sometimes it's a "gravity step") should always be the foot closest to the place you need to go...PERIOD...just watch some videos of the pros guys.....cross over step is Bunk, he's wasting energy and time Gracias...I'll do a vid on footwork someday....

  • Looks like a cheap agassi copy!!

  • This guy is a dork. A total dork! Look at 2:15. Is that the most ridiculous thing you've ever seen or what? lol. I really feel sorry for him.

  • I hate this dude

  • i think I've seen Verdasco do this. Pretty good tip.

  • i'm sorry sir, but tha is wrong advise...

you should not crossover. In everything else this guy is an excelent teacher, just not the footwork.. :D

  • Some people like the crossover some don't.

But have you seen the guys in basketball when they are garding??? The mode sideways... crossing almost every single step, but behind not in front. Crossing allows you to start moving front or back if you needed easier than large or regular steps.

  • In basketball they shuffle, they hardly crossover

  • "Crossing allows you to start moving front or back if you needed easier than large or regular steps"

sure man, it really helps ur opponent in those special cases. just do that cross over on clay and ur dead meat.

  • you crossover first to get to the ball the you side step back

  • why do you need to do that cross over thing

why not just start the shuffle without it???

it wouldnt really be any easier and i dont think it would save more time

  • hahahahahhahahahhaahhahahah its like an SNL rutine

  • which one is that one?

  • at first he looked a little dorky in some of his videos but he hit a pretty mean looking bh here. maybe he did go to the fourth round of the u s open like someone mentioned.

  • This guy has some good tips but unfortunately, this is not one of them. I've been playing for a long time and have never seen anyone use a crossover after hitting. First off, if you are concentrating on footwork like this, you are not conentrating on other important stuff like hitting the ball. This tip is kind of retarded.

  • his beckhand looks so powerful..great

  • Why is crossover necessary, why not just do the usual sidestep back to middle? What advantage does this bring? I'm just a beginner, thank you.

  • cool! thanks!

  • this guy has a great backhand! ;)

  • its a great backhand considering the ball is travelling to him really slow lol , he'd get smashed if a pro was playing him

  • he IS a pro !!!! You should check your facts. He would kick anyone's bottom of the court all day long if he wanted to.

I am just glad he's transferring some of his knowledge.

  • Federer has the lightest and most graceful footwork on the ATP tour and he is described by most of his opponents has having the best footwork on Earth.

And he never cross-over. I just watched perhaps the equivalent of 1 set in rallies and he never does this on any side.

    It only slows you down.

But, it could be helpful to remind you not to turn your body before completing your follow through.

    Everything considered, don't do it.

  • depends...if your last name is "Nadal", then don't do it.....but if you are just starting, then I think is a good tip...

  • Don't know. I always makes large steps and stands wide to hit. This guy is at the exact opposite.

This gives more stability, naturally forces oyu to bend the knees and therefore puts directly in a good position to hit.

Nadal and Federer does these large steps and wide positioning pretty well.

  • right

  • Thank you, I love to play tennis, and I think this will improve my game.

  • Good video! Thanks for posting this. I've seen the pros from Federer to Serena do this crossover step EVERY single time after they are pulled wide to hit a groundstroke. It looks and seems funny at first, but watching the pros do this really gave the crossover step credibility with me.

  • Nice lesson.

  • he is like a machine... Just like blake...

  • The crossover step is very useful when a player hits a very powerful backhand. The hips will lead and take the backfoot out of the closed stance. That will make it easy to do the crossover. Watch his hip lead the shot and his backfoot come out.

  • drilling helps you be ready for all match situations and to perfect consistency footwork technique and placement

  • Very well done. A $50. tennis lesson for free.

Fundamentals are clearly evident in the elite players. Crossover step is a necessary learning footwork tool to build on with other techniques.

  • great teaching,thanks!!

  • sweet dude. thanks
