  • The drum fill at 3:03 is pretty fucking Awesome

  • wish all the parts stayed exactly the same, with the same rawness etc for the ep

  • I'm sorry to say that I wasn't that satisfied with the finished product. I like the unfinished version better. Still a great song though, and I don't regret shelling out the ninety-nine cents for it.

  • @1994natsu When I first heard the finished version of this song, I really didn't like it either. I guess it was because I had got so used to this version that the changes (mainly the addition of vocals) really threw me off. After listening to it a few times and trying not to compare the two in my head the whole time, I really love the final product now. It has a lot more energy and is just a great song.

  • @flaminhairHR You have a good point and, like I said, I don't hate or dislike the finished product. I fell in love with the unfinished version because of the sound of it. The guitar in the unfinished version is amazing, and the finished version seems to have lost a lot of it. But I'll try what you did, and hopefully I'll appreciate the song just as much as their other amazing tracks

  • THIS SONG IS AMAZING FINISHED AND MASTERED!

  • The song is I Couldn't Do It Alone :3

  • Dope! Drums are amazing, Guitar is simple but so good. Love that timing

  • amazing

  • TelecasterMANIA!!! Hahaha... I freakin' love these guys so much. They can do no wrong.

  • all i can say is WOOOOOW

  • How about instead of analyzing what makes a song "good" to you. Cut out the criteria, let your ears hear the music and hear the potential of a song that isn't even completed before you pull out your criticisms. Really, for both sides of the argument, save it until the song is actually finished, please.

  • I've heard 3 songs off the Color Spectrum now and I have to say I love it. Its awesome how they are exploring different styles with each color

  • so wait you guys are dear hunter fans right??? then you should know that all of their albums followed the same story hence why alot of the song had similarities between albums. that whole feel was strictly for the Acts. The whole idea behind the colors ep's is to have completely different music other than what they're working on with their albums.

  • What a jam, man....

Vocalless and I could listen all day.

  • I love how many different styles these guys can play flawlessly. Stop trying to pigeon-hole them as "progressive", they make the music they want to make. This is one of my favourite songs of theirs.

  • Okay see this is what I was definitely afraid of, it seems like they're just trying to fit more into a certain genre now. I still see the progressive there but with more punk to it now and the indie and alternative feel is drifting away... I guess we'll just have to wait for the vocals to see how he sings it, because a lot of the progressive feel comes from how he sings his songs with his lyrics.

  • @sam9008 Stop trying to pigeon hole these guys. They are amazing at playing very many different styles of music flawlessly, and we should embrace that. They play what they want, when they want it, and I for one love it. I wouldn't want them to sit in the same genre of music forever. I'm glad they experiment and keep changing it up.

  • @TheSteve1919 I'm not putting these guys in any sort of window, what I'm saying is that they're not going to appeal to a lot of their fans as much. Think of it like this, I'll always listen to The Dear Hunter but I'll never listen to Fall out boy. First thing The Dear Hunter begins to form into other bands the less people will listen because that's not the genre that they came into liking this band. You can't tell people to keep an open mind when certain people only like certain generes

  • @sam9008 *genres. Without a doubt, all of the fans of The Dear Hunter know just how musically inclined they are. No one is claiming that they suck or that they HAVE to stay progressive but don't completely lose focus of what got you where you are and what people expect of you. The only reason Casey even completely changed it up from the Act's is because he decided that if the band didn't change it up for a bit he was afraid that they'd break up.

  • Be disappointed all you want, but this is killer to see them do something different. These chords are killer, dissonant, tight chords.

  • 2:56 onward = sex

  • Structurally, this song is really boring, but musically, it's fucking amazing. I can't wait to see what vocals they're going to put over this. This is a fucking harsh sounding song, I dunno if Casey can be harsh sounding :P

  • Holy shit, this is fuckin amazing.

  • mroe more more!

  • 2:58 - 4:01 = breakdown

  • I'm so sorry guys but this is horrible. act II is my favorite album of all time so don't get me wrong i love your music. but this? People love TDH for the love and the passion seeping out of every song. this however i can only describe as 'dad-rock'. it's just a traditional song structure full of bland rock riffs. this is a MASSIVE step back and i'll be sincerely hurt if the rest of the EP's are this bad.

I'm sorry it's just how i feel. i dont want to lose you as my favorite band : (

  • @niallyeah you havent heard the vocals, or organ dude hahaha you gotta listen to it more than once. you mortal

  • @Mattystew17 No matter how good the vocals are there's no way they can project life into instrumentation this stale. sorry : /

  • @niallyeah you do realize that each one of the nine EPs are gonna sound different, right? they are intending each EP to match its given color, much how thrice did with the alchemy index with fire, water, air, and earth.

freaking 9 extended plays ranging from 30-60 min. i think you can forgive them for making one that doesn't play perfectly into your taste.

the band is just experimenting with their own capabilities, expanding their horizon.

  • @Giggsy91411 Yes i realize that. The whole concept is everywhere on TDH site.

They've never released a bad song until now. And them churning out shit just to get things done isn't an excuse to do so.

Each EP won't range from 30-60 min. That's an LP and they're not releasing 9 LPs are they...fuck.

it's got nothing to do with taste. the riffs are stale and the structure is conventional and unadventurous.

i'm confident that the other songs will be very strong compared to this though :) BAD SONG.

  • @niallyeah

It might not be finished. :]

They added the organ to it, who's to say that they're totally finished adding things? The Dear Hunter generally has a much broader instrumentation than this. Id be surprised.

  • @niallyeah i still like it, oh well

  • @niallyeah hmm we will see about that :) the most important thing i've learned from the dear hunter is to never underestimate them. As time goes by, they always bring music to a whole new level and at first i was never expecting it. This leads me to a simple conclusion: This piece of music, that i loved, will sound great once the rest of the instruments are recorded. Just my opinion tho :)

  • AMAZING! Please come to Chicago when you tour next!

  • the more I hear this, the more I love it

  • Anyone know when the EP will be out???

  • @Dekationz Well stop eating shit then and enjoy the music.

  • 1:13 1:19 , omg

  • You guys are incredible. I could listen to the tracking all day. Seriously guys, keep at it. You're going to be SOOOOOO huge. • unique from the other material you guys have put out. i'm very excited to hear this EP and what's to come.

  • Can't understand why this band isn't huge.

  • OMFG!

    Shit so sick

  • BEAST

  • Woa... I just noticed the Porcupine Tree shirt, now I love this band even more!

  • So excited!! I've been wondering if these EPs were even happening, but I guess they are and I am just so pumped to hear more.
