Can somebody please help me? I have been looking for an album for over ten years and I can´t remember the name of the band. I think the band was american but I´m nut sure. The style was very typical early 90´s death as far as I can remember and the album cover had a picture of jesus laying on the ground and on each side there was a demon playing with his cut open stomach. one demon. it was very colorful and drawm kinda like the drawings in comic books. anybody knows?

Yeah. Repulsion and Carcass are both Grindcore, but they both had elements later used by Death metal bands and they both had a gigantic influence on the early scene. So I would consider them both as some kind of proto-Death metal bands.

ya carcass did have melodic death metal elements to them to some of there albums where more melo death then grindcore

Agreed. Beginning from the "Heartwork" era, Carcass really had many melodic elements in their music. But the real originators of Melodic Death metal are, in my opinion, were bands like Dismember, Sentenced, Amorphis, Desultory, etc.

Even so, Carcass had a great influence on many later melo death bands too.

Blessed are the Sick IMO beats even Altars of Madness. But "God of Emptiness" is better known, due to music video (and has more classic value). Other candidates for the MA's song were "Immortal Rites" and "Blessed are the Sick", but I eventually chose GoE for some reason
