Then you haven't seen many artists :/. Look up ThePortraitArt and onlypencil. onlypencil is probably the best I've ever seen in my life, and he's just miles and miles above me.

I'm just a beginner, Like I can draw realistic eyes and mouth, not even a nose :p however the only critical thing I have to say about the picture is, the eyes look sad. for the rest is perfect, I'm jealous :p

Is there any chance you could tell me what kind of pencil or coloured pencil it is you used for the really dark fur like the top of the head cause I really need something like that :S?

I used charcoal throughout the entire drawing. I would definitely not recommend using a black colored pencil to draw because they are much harder to manipulate and/or erase. Generals makes good charcoal pencils and they are cheap.

Oh my, it makes me laugh how many times I read "you have talent" from other people. It must be frusterating, huh? I can't stand hearing that phrase from other people because achiving this level of skill has little to nothing to do with talent and much more to do with simple practice. No one ever seems to take that for a strait answer and wants some magic trick to drawing this way but it just doesn't work like that. XD Makes me laugh.~

Chihuahua's fur is really short. It's hard to draw short fur. I can't do it any time soon anyway because I have projects lined up back to back.

Yeah, a lot of people tell me that. I don't think I could work on a surface as tricky as skin, and I make too many mistakes to be a good tattoo artist.

Yeah, it definitely is. This dog wasn't too hard to draw because the fur is pretty long. I'm pretty sure that dogs with short fur are harder to draw.

What materials did you use?

Charcoal pencils and an HB graphite pencil for some of the light areas. I made the blending tools myself, and used a piece of styrofoam to get the fur to look a little more realistic.

Not maybe, of course you will. With enough time and practice, you'll be better than me.
