As for the USSR, consider this: They lost one army in 1941 in the initial stages of the Great Patriotic War, about 1 million men. They lost a second army from 1941 to 1943, about 1.5 million men. They raised a THIRD army and won. Why? 1) Universal military training. 2) A number of experienced veterans of WWI and the Civil War. 3) The ability to focus on weapons production, with the U.S. providing trucks, jeeps, rations, and uniform cloth.
@gab21113 Kinda funny that people dont realize that the USSR killed four out of 5 german soldiers. The US and Britian only 1 out of 5. USSR did the most fighting and dying. Thats what won the European theatre of war, with our supplies and us opening up another front
In 1934, the Waffen-SS was not yet born. SS troops from this period were from the Leibstandarte Adolph Hitler, his bodyguard, or were Allegemeine-SS (general purpose police /guard unites). The SS training was not up to Army standards, though it was unique in its emphasis on physical fitness and ideological training. SS troops in Poland and the West took far too many casualties per man than the Army.
@panzermick1 Bullshit, all the did for the most part was going around killing unarmed innocent people. They did more retreating than fighting. They were mostly about internal affairs and secret police. There is no way to know who the best fighting machine ever was. But I know the ss isnt that machinge
