  • Cameron has the most incredible mane I've ever seen on a lion before!

  • Is it true in the wild tigers kill crocodiles sometime?

  • @ccth22 Yes, I've seen this happen in videos before

  • trow joseph with shere khan or tj hehe , let's see who stole that turkey

  • Aren't Lions afraid of Tigers size and strength?

  • At 4:01 I was very surprised that a Lion would scare a Tiger off. Does this happen often and do you think this would happen in the wild?

  • 4:01 :(

  • 4:42 are you looking at MY turkey?! ARE YOU!?!?

  • they sure do make raw chickens/turkeys look delicious to eat

  • 00:42 ADORABLE.

  • do some of the cats recognize their names and respond when you call them?

  • @thehall92 Yep, definitely....most of them do or they may not recognize their names just respond to the person?? who knows... and some just choose to ignore you :)

  • 2:02 "GIMME THAT!"

  • i loved how some of the cats were showing off their food, and strutting around with it hanging out of their mouths. so damn cute. it doesn't matter if cats are wild or domestic, they still have some of that same hilarious mannerisms.

  • Mhm tasty:) It looks like they love turkeys;)

  • I'm glad you don't feed live prey but may I ask what is the reason?

  • @ayesha080 First and foremost it's cruel and unnecessary, also feeding 130 cats live prey everyday would require a huge amount of space for the prey and time to hand it out. Then there's always the risk that the big cat could get injured (beak or claw in their eye etc..) We do feed live prey to our rehab bobcats that will be released back into the wild so they need to learn how to hunt :)

  • Are there a lot of vegans at big cat rescue? Not the cats of course, the humans.

  • @ayesha080 There are quite a few vegetarians and vegans, yes :)

  • .. i thought you guys were gonna give them live turkey...

  • Nope, we don't feed out live prey, unless we are feeding a rehab bobcat that will later be released into the wild.

  • whats Joseph's problem?

  • He's just a lion! :) Lions are more crabby and difficult to work with, he was just letting everybody know he's the boss as usual!

  • he needs help.

  • Did Snorkel ever get a Turkey?

It seemed like Joseph the lion stole the turkey from him lol.

  • @BigCatRescue ...That is wrong...you cannot play God. In the wild that Turkey has SOME chance of escaping. I like what you do overall but...

  • We don't feed live turkeys :)

  • at the end joseph scared me lol its just how intimidating the bigcats are. i lovem :)

  • That tiger that Joseph chased off, was it a male or female.

  • That was Simba the female tiger in the pride, she got her own turkey though, down at the opposite end of the enclosure!

  • Cool! And happy thanksgiving to you all at Big Cats rescue! ^^ :3 and thanks giving to the big cats!!

  • I dream of the day when I can buy you cornish game hens to feed the caracals and the bobcats!

  • Those Tigers are gorgeous cats, Cameron and Joesph are hug Lions. They are so beautiful with their big full manes, the other cats are beautiful to. I would love to see Big Cat Rescue, where do I get the info on the place.

  • So don't the big cats attack eachover in the wild or?

  • All big cats are solitary in the wild except the lion, so they will leave signals for other cats to mark their territory, spray, scratch marks, feces etc... They really don't want to come in contact with other cats. But desperate times can mean entering the territory of other cats, which may result in confrontations.

  • i agree Joseph is sometimes a jackass

  • cameron is so funny!

He's like gaurding his food :P

  • Exactly, I wouldn't want to try and take it away from him though!

  • Was that a male or female tiger Joseph just chased off.

  • That was Simba or "Chuffers" as most people call her now, because she is always chuffing at people :) Joseph is a bit of a jackass at times.

  • this Male Lion has a really huge mane, never seen such one before. How much does Cemeron weigh?

  • Cameron has got a nice big mane with many different shades of color also. He doesn't actually weigh that much though maybe 250-300lbs??

  • really? I thought full grown male lions weighed around 510 lbs...

  • You're right they can do, Cameron as always been this size since we rescued him, he's a picky eater!

  • Cameron has got a nice big mane with many different shades of color also. He doesn't actually weigh that much though maybe 250-300lbs??

  • It just hit me that you're located in Tampa, Florida. c: I'll have to come see all these beautiful cats sometime!

  • Do you ever put male lions and male tigers together? Would they fight each other or get along, and which would be in charge?

  • Joseph's pride as a male lion/male tiger + female lion/female tiger, they have always lived together and must of been raised together from a young age. But if you were to introduce a mature lion with a mature tiger they would definitely fight, depends on the cat's personality as to who would be in charge???

  • LOL joseph is a bully xD

  • He definitely is, but I can't help but like him!?

  • wow, Frosty was determined to get that game hen

  • Yep never come between a serval and his dinner :)

  • What breed of cat is Tonga?

  • Tonga is a white african serval, we have two white servals at the sanctuary the only two we know of in the world!

  • Interesting. I love learning about all sorts of cats (tigers are my favorite) but I've never heard of a white african serval. Beautiful one though =)

  • damn lions are the king of the jungle~ such terror~ hehe

  • Joseph's really bully!He stole the turkey!LOL

But they seems to be happy...although Cameron seems really possessive O_O

Love them <3 You're doing a great job!

  • do they eat every part of the meat even the bones?

  • Yep! Just like they would in the wild with smaller prey items, they can crunch up the bone and it's a good source of calcium for them :)

  • why do you hide some of the turkeys in the cats cages?

  • We don't really hide them, just place them so it's a different experience for them instead of being fed in the same place day after day :) good fun for them.

  • oh ok. and i see that alex is a lynx.which is my favorite big cat :-D

  • Big cats seem to get really aggressive when they are fed...

Kind of scary to see how fast their moods change once meat is in sight!

  • Yep, exactly you can never forget these are wild animals and are very unpredictable :)

  • My big cats love RAW turkey too. (Ragdoll cats)

  • I can speek lion! Camron at the end is saying "MINE! NOT YOURS! MINE!" Translation complete hope you enjoyed it.

  • I did :)

  • at 4:40 its so cool, how he's defending his food

  • What kind of cat is Tonga?

  • Tonga is a white serval, we have two at BCR, the only two that we know of in the world!

  • crunchable birdsesss om nom nom

  • Joseph: "Hey that turkey was on my side. I saw it first!"

  • Cameron : ''know you see my turkey, know you don't!!HAHAHAHAHA''

    lol

  • Yep, that was his bird and nobody else's!!!

  • lol this funny and cute 2 watch and i was thinkin i believe in reincarnation and id love to be reincarnated as a big cat lol

  • that scary the hell out of me 3:17

  • Yep, these are wild animals no matter how friendly they may appear towards you at other times! :)

  • lol Cameron is very protective of his turkey

  • LOL@Camron trying to hatch his turkey.

  • Mine, mine, mine :)

  • What happens if the were to swallow a small bone from the turkey? Just wondering

  • Animals eat bones, just as they would in the wild. Bones which have been cooked are what's dangerous to eat, because they are dried out and can splinter, tearing a throat or stomach, or anything in between.

Some people feed raw bones to their dogs in a specially prepared diet called BARF - which stands for Bones and Raw Food or Biologically Appropriate Raw Food. Google it!

  • Wow the power of the dominant male lions is incredible! That tiger joseph scared off was huge also. Are the lions always so protective of their food like cameron?

BTW is the guy in the begining with the turkeys from the show on animal planet called 'Lion Feeding frenzy"? Cuz i think i saw him on that show just a while ago.

  • where and what do you do with the cats when theres a hurricane? just wondering :D

  • Well our enclosures are designed to withstand up to category 4 storms, they're made up of cylinders and these act like trampolines if a tree were to fall on them. They are also rooted top and bottom by trees etc... growing through them so are very solid and flexible. All the cats have steel reinforced concrete dens to stay safe. If there was a category 5 hurricane on the way and we decided to evacuate BCR, the "lock-out" where we feed our cats have bottoms on.

  • So this is easy for us, it's a good place for the cats where they get fed, we can put food on their tray slide the door down behind them and detach the cage without sedating our cats which is something you don't want to do if you don't have to :)

  • I knew there were safety features there, but I didn't know all that. It's interesting. Thank you for letting us know, and now perhaps there should be a video about it sometime!

  • 4:41 hahaha Cameron is hiding his turkey and roaring at everyone around him. funny lion.

  • JOSEPH, OK, OK, YOU'RE THE KING :-)

  • Agreed :)

  • Ferocious Feline's Feasting on Fowl.

Joseph should be cited for turkey stealing.

  • Did Cameron need dental work, or was there simply grass stuck to his turkey? :-)

  • Frosty is so cute (:

  • GET AWAY FROM MY TURKEY!

  • you guys are doing a realy great job

    thanks and keep going ^_^

  • That's a very nice little treat to give them. They obviously love them! :)

  • Made me hungry...

  • Thanksgiving dinner? :)

  • Why are liger so much bigger then lions and tigers??

  • The large size of the liger is due to "genomic imprinting" - the unequal expression of genes depending on parent of origin i.e. whether certain growth genes are inherited from the male or the female which results in growth dysplasia.

  • 4:01 ~~ "Who's the boss around here!"

  • Joseph is!

  • yeah i think that too u should at least for one time a year let them like huant a real pray i know they will love this

  • We know they'd love it! But I know the animals we are feeding to them wouldn't! Never going to happen we all care about animal welfare staff and volunteers and feeding out live prey to big cats is not something we would ever do. sorry :(

  • I think you should feed these cats with live turkeys, that way the cats could use little exercise.

Did that cougar just roar while snatching that turkey from the other cougar? it sounds like a lion roars.

haha it's fun to see Joseph was pretecting his turkey as if it was his treasure. He was afriaid someone else is gonna steal it from him. How cute.

I am shocked to see clouded leopards are so small. I thought they were one of the big cats.

  • Yeah we get that a lot, but it's just not a good thing to do, the cats could just end up "playing" with their food for a long time before finally killing the animal and there's also the risk that the cats could get injured by beak/claw of their dinner! The cougar can't roar but they do make a bunch of other different noises! I think that was actually Cameron our other male lion protecting his turkey, and they are servals in the video not clouded leopards, we no longer have them at the sanctuary.

  • the lion at the end sound like a harley lmao

  • So, do you name all of your cats, and then how do you tell them apart?

  • We don't get to name many cats they all keep the names they come with, except for any bobcats we rehab and release back into the wild and the three cougars we rescued from Idaho, we got to name those cats :) As for telling them apart, it's just a matter of time, you just get to know the look of their face etc...

  • Each tiger face is as individual as our fingerprints, right?

  • Yes, well each tiger has individual markings everywhere :)

  • where do you rescue these animals from?

  • We have rescued cats from all different background, fur farms, retired circus cats, breeding facilities that have been shut down, pet trade, backyard breeders and a lioness that was seized in a drug raid! It's a crazy situation and something we are trying to fix, thanks for watching!

  • Some people got a cute little WILD animal without concern for their future. As the animal grew BIGGER, with danger instints taking over, they were abused with confinement; mistreated with beatings; and butchered with declawings and teeth removals. All to TRY to control them or make them manageable. BCR is just one of many places NECESSARY because some humans were selfish and had to have themself a wild animal at any cost, except they didn't have the money to take care of them properly!

  • I've never seen a white serval before...wow that's cool. Is this a melanistic thing like when leopards and jaguars are born black or is it due to inbreeding?

  • No melanism is what turns animals black, we have two white servals at the sanctuary their coloring is caused by a double recessive gene, from their parents, they aren't albino as they have blue eyes and some golden spots etc...

  • frost loves himself a hen :P, i think the cougars thought their chicken was alive, haha, cameron hid his turkey :P,

  • you have tigers and lions in the same enclosure? does that lead to any problems?

  • No, where we rescued them from they were living together and most probably were raised together from a young age so don't know any better. Of course if we tried to introduce two mature tigers/lions they would fight.

  • Haha, Frosty has excellent posture.

  • Yep, he's a show off!

  • i guess turkeys can fly XD

    "where`s mine?" rofl

  • Great video. I love the way you end it! What was the light colored with the tufts on the ear tips? I know lynx have those, but it wasn't the right color, or usual color. Was that the sandcat? If not, which one was the sand cat. I Alex a snow leopard - or what? Also, it was so cute the way Baby knew her name, but the snarl when she got the food wasn't so cute..not the sound a pet would make! Snorkel is so large the turkey looked like a chicken . Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks, the light colored cat was a caracal (african small cat) no sand cats in this podcast, alex is a very large bobcat! Baby is actually Artemis the cougar she is the smaller than her 2 brothers so we call her baby sometimes, but snorkel is a very big tiger!

  • Tonga is beautiful! & Snorkel just seems to play with his!!

Cameron says ' mine, mine mine!'

  • what breed in Frosty?

  • Frosty is a serval, these are an african small cat that eat rodents, birds, things like that, unusual looking cats.

  • I have a question, do you get paid for this? or is this a volunteer type of thing? If you do, about how much do you make? (sorry if this is personal or anything)

  • We have half a dozen staff members at the sanctuary, then over one hundred volunteers, that really help us keep the place going! The staff members do get paid, but it's not that much, but we have job satisfaction!

  • I suppose some volunteers might be considering jobs in animal science or zoology, and this is adding to their education. It takes a special person to dedicate their life to animals where they will surely witness abuse, suffering and death. With all that is known, their is still much of the science of animals yet to be discovered. Bless you all. It's wonderful and I'm sure it fills your heart to be part of it.

  • Is Tonga Albino?

  • Hi, nope Tonga isn't albino, he as blue/green eyes and some golden/dark spots on his body, the white color is caused by a double recessive gene similar to the white tiger!

  • I came to Big Cat Rescue for the first time in March 2008. As our tour began we came to the cat-a-tat that holds Shere Kahn and China Doll, a random bird (game hen maybe?) flew above and into the cat-a-tat and China Doll was on it in a second, she killed it right away and then ate it. I was able to get a picture, just another reason these guys should not be anyone's pet. I love the Big Cat Rescue, the next tour I would like to do is the feeding tour!! Thanks for all you do!

  • oooh, bad move for the bird, it happens I guess! The feeding tour is cool, because you're guaranteed to see the cats up close and chomping through bones! You also see some species that you don't really get to see on the regular tour like the sandcat!

  • oooh, bad move for the bird, it happens I guess! The feeding tour is cool, because you're guaranteed to see the cats up close and chomping through bones! You also see some species that you don't really get to see on the regular tour like the sandcat!

  • 1:43 sounds unpleasant

  • Yeah and those bones are the same size as the bones in your hand!

  • NOM NOM NOM

thx for making teh world a better place

  • Thanks for watching!

  • one time i came face to face with a lion just like Cameron. and I kicked it in the face and it ran away. true story.

  • I wish we had that on film, would make a good video on youtube!

  • Those male lions are such bullies!!! Stealin the turkey from that poor tiger ;(

  • Yep, male lions want to be in charge of everything! Can't help but like them for it though!?

  • hehe do you fight with that lion O.O i would if he didint have claws an big scary teeth =)

  • i think iwanna fight joseph

  • so awsome

  • Do the animals ever receive live prey?

  • Nope, as you can see we do feed them whole prey though we do this once a week rats for the small guys and rabbits for the larger cats all of which we buy form a supplier frozen. The only exception to this rule is Hope the rehab bobcat we are currently feeding her live rats so she can learn how to hunt ready for her release back into the wild!

  • lol feed them kebab =)

  • what kind of tiger was it that ran away from the angry lion?

  • That was simba, she is a siberian tiger, Joseph the male lion likes to be in charge of the pride and the turkeys! Simba got a turkey at the other end of the enclosure!

  • camerosn sounds like a motor boat when he growls!

  • Holy crap! Joseph sounds like a broke harley! L0L

  • I've not heard that one before, but you're right and he's scary up close and personal!

  • Yeah, Harley Davidson has a copyright on their sound of their engines, but I don't think they'll come after Joseph for sounding like 'a broke harley!'

  • And that's why you shouldn't stick fingers in their territory.

  • Exactly well said!

  • Heh, big kitties make big bones go *crunch crunch*.

  • Are you going to release the cats into the wild? Or are their hunting skills not so good so you don't want anything to happen to them? But anyways i think you do a great job with the cats!!

  • The ONLY cats BigCatRescue releases back into the wild are those they have under special circumstances - like the Bobcat which was injured and spent time there to rehabilitate. Those particular cats have VERY limited contact with people, and are fed live mice so they can be returned to their natural habitat without an unnatural imprint from humans.

  • LMFAOOOOOOOO AT JOSEPH

    LLOLOLOLO<3

  • Why didnt he fight back?

  • Are you talking about the tiger who had it's turkey stolen by Joseph?

  • yeh. Has Joseph been an bully?

  • I think he's used to Joseph treating him badly. Poor thing.

  • Joseph is one badass lion.

  • I'd have to agree with you there! Thanks for watching!

  • that lion owned that tiger, lol

  • No, cats require a really high protein diet, dogs can thrive on a vegatarian diet, but it's not suitable for cats to have a vegan diet.

  • the lion stole the turkey from the tiger.

how come only one turkey was given to two big cats?

  • They all got a turkey each, we threw more in on the other end of the enclosure away form Joseph!

  • Hi BigCatRescue,

did you ever think or plan to make the site where those animals are kept open to the public?

  • lol snorkel the tiger

  • what is tonga, please, looks like a big cat.

  • Hi, Tonga is a white serval, we have two at the sanctuary the only two in the world as far as we know!
