  • bon guitariste de blues -elyane

  • Yeah man. They still got the blues.

  • favorite song Slow Blues in C unreal on recorded live... guitar perfection!

  • Alvin Lee, One of the all-time greats. He appeared unbilled at one of my regular bars back in the late 80's, In Atlanta. Fastest hands I've ever seen. BAR NONE!!

  • Buddy Guy...end of the discussion.

  • One of my favorite blues guitarists ever. LOVE Alvin! Want to see him LIVE, does he ever tour anymore or does he stick close to home? I love all these old rockers--like me--still rocking on & never stopping. I'm grateful for every one of them still alive & making incredible music.

  • all rtight people guy's and gal's alvin lee vs srv

  • can someone explain me how to get that tone??is he using a fuzz??thanks, great vid!!

  • @FabioGrOoVe91

    Its called "Talent"

  • @FabioGrOoVe91 watch his hand when it gets dirty he turned up the guitar..then turns it down a bit to clean it up.... he could have a pedal too. but he is using that volume too...

  • @FabioGrOoVe91 Alvin says he doesn't use effects, just the guitar via a curly lead straight into the amp. That tone is from the overdrive channel of his Marshall amp.

Too many folks think you need a pedal to get a decent drive sound and don't really give the amp a chance to show what it can do.

  • mizzou, you aren't lookin' in he right places. MTV is not a place for music.

  • the man's come a long way from woodstock

  • !!! QUANTO MAIS ESCUTO ...MAIS BOQUIABERTA FICO ...EXCELLENT !!!

  • I been playing for 40 years on the guitar, was at the original Woodstock, saw Alvin in T.Y.A. and met Janis, Jimi, Country Joe, and many more. Nowadays generations are about the money, not the quality.

  • Mean harp player says I.

  • oh yeah MTV hasnt a clue

  • You took my comment too literally. I meant today's musicians don't have the same passion, commitment and sound of guys like Lee, West and Montrose.

  • The 6 dislikes I cant believe that they are human! Are donkeys allowed to post comments here I didnt think they were that smart. I have been listening to Alvin Lee since Woodstock and it dosent get any better. The man is just pure musical genius.

  • @MrPow19

    That's right....everybody is a F**king genius.

  • @MrPow19 amen ur absoluley right... rock doesn't get any better than Alvin... yes i get the blue and it hurts me deep inside... i crank up slow blue in C and rock my blues away

  • Oooh my God!!! Alvin is Pure Passion!!!

  • damn! that was just plain sick!!! thanks for posting!

  • I like his way of playing...

  • Come to think of it, I think I got a little drunk listening to Alvin Lee & Company back in the 70's/ it's a little foggy now, but I believe we had a good time.

  • Ahhhhhh, bless you Red. life is good

  • the master of slow n´fast blues and the blues and the jazz getting married

  • Oh yeah....now that's a reminder from a long time ago. Gotta just fuckin love it!!!

  • inspired guitar in my humble opinion

  • the really fucked up thing bout this exchange is that it is exactly what's goin on in US politics. i was basically agreeing with moose, he didnt get it, he goes and looks up and writes shit all over all my demo clips. and accuses me of limiting his free speech rights, like our "left wing prez" . how dense, misinformed & paranoid are these folks? glad i'm not stateside right now. i don't know how y'all can deal with it. hey moose! l LIKE ALVIN LEE. i LIKE YOU! it's all gonna be okay. relax

  • Wauwi He is sooo good, Alvin and th eharmonicaplayer fitting just like hell togehter! ;-))

  • You are playing better than ever! Awesome! Guess I'm going to have to start learning Alvin Lee licks again for the first time since you basically taught me to play many , many years ago.

  • Six viados votes down!

  • Fantastico duetto con l'armonica !!

  • Just Fuckin' Siizzling! Absolutely Loved 'em from the very first notes Alvin played at Fillmore West 1968 or 69. Spoonful was the tune.

  • @ghostwrx Yes, they are out there and TYA, et al were out there 30 or 40 years ago, in the clubs and gatherings. Just like Trucks, et al. The truly great ones are never acclaimed until it is too late. SRV was mostly invisible during his life. It took years and years to raise him above backscatter...

  • Good track, would have been better with Ollie Hallsall playing along.

  • what a performance, what a genius - Alvin , a realy great job

  • I AGREE!!

  • What kind of guitar is that? Gibson 335?

  • 321BRay and mizzou79tiger.......................you both said it, one of the greatest.

  • @mizzou79tiger, I appreciate your love of guys like Alvin Lee, etc., but to say there are no guitarists like them is displaying a bit of ignorance. You need to explore artists such as Derek Trucks, Widespread Panic, Gov't Mule and quite a few others before you commit to that statement.

  • @eagle0468

I commit and believe it. I have seen enough concerts and listened to enough music. Alvin Lee is second to none. Other greats include Ronnie Montrose, Johnny Winter, etc. Different generations and each has its own opinion. Most overrated guitarist - Jimmy Page and Keith Richards. To say Lee is sloppy shows compete ignorance bad muddy!

  • he has ALWAYS been an incredibly sloppy & insensitive player, with an absolutely atrocious feel & vibrato. sorry, but he was nowhere near the caliber of the great players of the 60's, like clapton, hendrix, beck, bloomfield, mick taylor, peter green, et. al. his playing has always made me cringe...

  • @badmuddy ..... Don't tell me let me guess: You're hearing impaired right? You grew up thinking David Cassidy from The Partridge Family was the greatest guitarist of all time? You're a Moron? All of the above?

  • @moose1952 come on man, he likes clapton, beck hendrix.. he s not a partridge family fan. or a moron. and alvin is one of the sloppiest (yet , curiouslx effective!) blues guitarists EVER. ("goin home" woodstock) really. listen to it. it's reeeeally sloppy. do you play? do you have ears? bad muddy isnt a moron, but he is maybe a bit to antiseptic in his tastes.

  • @moose1952 hey moose, thanks for shitting all over my demo clips. yer blocked Bitch. you got anything more to say to me , come to frnakfurt, i'll be glad to discuss it with you. get a life.

  • @badmuddy sloppy yet effective.....dont forget "goin home" at woodstock.. that was some rockin fast blues boogie.

  • What a FUCKING caricature - look the word up you DUMB fucks!!!!!!!!!!!

  • alvin ,as jimmy Hendrix are the best guitarrist in the world (my soul told me),you can ask yours, and that is the correct one,for you.

  • The best for ever. Alvin Lee is my hero, when he is playing the blues. He knows how to play it.

  • DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm cumming in my chair :(..really feeling, truly blues!!

  • poesía en guitarra, Alvin eres único.

  • Non so perchè ma mi commuovo... Sarò vecchio....

  • OMG! What a fantastic music!

  • dont know why but in the 60, even the best ones sounds better there, than today or other years, 60s was a magical era, everything yoiu witshed came true

  • There will never ever ever be another Alvin Lee, the generation that were kids when we were young, has no idea what music is, they think cRap is music ,what a joke, I'm gonna kill your moma and screw your sister while you watch bitch, what kind of music is that, answer, it's cRap.

  • @wrennan they like rap, cuz they easy can remeber the lyrycs.. and there no good music to remeber the lyrycs today ...

  • Great video this is! Fans should check out his latest version of Slow Blues In C in the video from Budapest 2010

  • Magic sound!

  • Is this Charlie Musslewhite on the Harp? I think it is? Ooops!

He said Alan blane? or Blade? on the harp.

  • @Raven101able Alan Glen is the harmonica player here.

  • Is this Charlie Musslewhite on the Harp? I think it is?

  • u can't compete with alvin lee he's a fucking savage on guitar more like an animal he can't be touched literally and nobody plays as fast and as clean as him sure you got yngwie malmsteen and guys like gary moore but they don't have the soul for the blues they just play scales really fast theres no passion or soul to it it's just not in them..im not hating on those guys there definently talented but not in a bluesy way.

  • Did you just say Gary Moore didn't play the blues with soul?

  • you hit the nail right on the head, a savage, and animal, but in the VERY best possible sense, almost inhuman, an ak-47 on full auto, i saw him a number of times, it was incredible, it was like a force that would come out of the amps and grab inside your skull and rip your fucking brain out through your ears !!! the blistering speed and sheer command of the fret board, total mastery, he just went a few steps beyond the other greats of the day, and not to put any of them down in any way at all

  • taigi

  • He's got the blues.

  • I am not certain whether this inspires me onward or..... drives me to beat myself with my guitar until it breaks. FFS, why bother.

  • @tbillrock be inspired, and play, be yourself, there will doubtful be another Alvin Lee from when he was in his prime

  • Ha ha,,i used to spend all of my paper round money on his albums,,,the first album i bought was ,,Rock and roll music to the world !!!,,need i say more!!!,,

  • Damn i was 2 years old when this happened!

  • Guitar players like Alvin Lee, Ronnie Montrose and Leslie West don't exist anymore. Truly the greats who paid their dues. The MTV generation makes millionaires and brands from the likes of Justin Biebre, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez. They never worked the clubs. Technology makes talent less people stars, not hard work and respect. Here's to Alvin and his generation.

  • @mizzou79tiger havent you heard john mayer, he is the blues man of the last years

  • @mizzou79tiger what do you mean "don't exist anymore"? Alvin is alive, well and givin' you blues around the world.

  • @rontemplin I think he means not being relevant. but these guys are epic!

  • @mizzou79tiger ---"Money for nuthin', and your chicks for free!" It's MOSTLY about vanity and over-processed sounds today. Time will tell, as It always does!---raymind

  • @mizzou79tiger

    MTV sucks

  • @mizzou79tiger

there are some that try now im 20 an im playin the bar tonight =)

  • @mizzou79tiger look what runs MTV need i say more

  • @mizzou79tiger yeah look what runs MTV need more be said ?

  • @mizzou79tiger yeah but look what runs mtv need i say more

  • Guitar players like Alvin Lee, Ronnie Montrose and Leslie West don't exist anymore. Truly the greats who paid their dues. The MTV generation makes millionaires and brands from the likes of Justin Biebre, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez. They never worked the clubs. Technology makes talent less people stars, not hard work and respect. Here's to Alvin and his generation.

  • I cant think of anybody that plays the blues better than ALVIN

  • gary moore..

  • i had to back it up and listen to the note he hits at 2:45. man oh man......

  • Dude!

  • Epic!!!

  • i think "spoonful" by Ten Years After is the greatest song ever, and Alvin Lee is simply the best!!!

  • É show

  • How can you not love this?

  • "slow" blues"

The harmonica player is so good he sounds like A. Lee

  • This is great, just discovering Alvin! Who is the guy on harmonica?

  • I was fortunate to see Ten Years After in concert 1971 in Germany. Great band and Alvin Lee one heck of a guitar player.

  • One of the most versatile bands of their time.

  • he really says a lot with a little. . the way I like it!

  • Nuthin slow about this blues.......

  • @Fendermanpaul clap your hands to the rythm.

  • Big Red Burnin'

  • Sure sounds like Red House to me. superb play and embellishing, but it still seems like Red House

  • This guy is great....I saw him in 1994...as far as I know he is been in Portugual...since then

    "One of these Days boy"

  • VERY GOOD

    wwwnunoflorescom

  • This...is what its all about, cant beat it.....

  • Se agradece el aporte Red

  • Bad ass shoes, too.

  • super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Alvin playd wityh Frank Zappa at one time

  • Alvin Lee always has been and still is one of the greatest!

He can make that guitar cry with emotion!

  • j'adore... excuse me j am a french j like this

  • terrible tone, thin harsh and brittle. typical wanna be blues bands.

  • Best guitar player EVER!!!!!!!

  • @FunnyBoi26 He certainly is very, very good. Try Peter Green in Peter Greens original Fleetwood Mac line up. Green Manalishi, Oh Well are good ones. He doesn't display the speed of Alvin Lee, but the touch is brilliant. Alvin Lee in Ten Years After were from about three miles from where I grew up. They were just before my time otherwise I'd probably have met them on the local circuit.

  • May not be everbodys cup of tea but you have got to admire the guys ability

  • i got this album by ten years after and the text is all screwd up slow blues in c is i caint keep from cryin lol , no matter this band is insane !

  • Awesome

  • One of the greats, always gave 100%

  • @321BRay no doubt

  • @321BRay Always gives 100%

  • @321BRay

I fully agree, I grew up with TYA always been a fan , does anyone know the name of the harmonica player?

  • YEA MOVE ON WIESIERJO!!!!!!

  • FUCK YOU WIESIERJO YOUR A PUNK!!!!!

  • For a man that thinks Alvin is rubbish you sure listen to a lot of his work.Pretty childish to troll through his songs making the same stupid comments.

  • Yeah we are all wrong and you are correct. Now that you have decided it's all the same can you move on to someone else and give us peace.

  • with your head up your arse everything does sound the same... find your ears and pull or don't worry be happy

  • Wow!

  • One hero

  • He calls this "Slow blues" but he is one of if not the fastest and cleanest players there ever was, and this is nothing like "Redhouse" except it is the same time progression.....Respects to Jimi...

  • Reminds me of Hendrix's Red house.

  • This is the first artist to play it...He wrote it !

  • What I want to know is .withall the different styles of music and the personal enjoyment of each. The only reason for the tube rage coment is the tube rage not the son or artist// I loved Alvin Lees music so much I went out and bough a new Gibson SE 335 in Warrenssburg Missouri I 1974. Been jammin every since

  • nice. its good to do things that you suddenly want to. i mean, i wished i could do things like that. unfortunately im only 13 years old. :D

  • That's an advantage, you're only 13 yrs old

  • Guitar playing doesn't get any better than this. He's Great!!!

  • Perfect !!

  • p.s ALVIN #1ALL TIME DEAL WITH IT HOMEY

  • i agree you retards have problems in life huh? gotta talk race sheet on a music site how pathetic get a life losers

  • fuck all of you rascitst cunts i came here for the tune and a have to say gr8 song

  • I've been a big Alvin Lee fan since I bought 'Undead' about 40 years ago, but in the general scheme of things is there anything more boring than a 'slow blues in C' ?? The very phrase makes my heart sink. You just know the guitar solos are going to be too long and worst of all the fecking bass player is going to show no imagination whatsoever. Dum-dedum-dedum....

  • blues guitar donottawaguitar

  • stupid fucking idiots what fuck does white black jew have to do with great blues. go to some skinhead site to run you're faggot mouth and they will shoot you for being a stupid fucking idiot

  • lol agreed. Problem for some of you skinhead fux, might be that ALL American music was derived from slave field hollers, which transmogrified into rag, delta blues, swing, country, rock and roll, r&b, classic rock, and so on. You can thank the blacks for most of what you hear, today.

Thanks to Son House, Charley Patton, Robt Johnson, Blind Blake, Willie McTell and the others.

  • @B7aug5 Thanks, I couldn't have said it better... get a life

losers, Props to ALL of you who are above this race garbage

I thank the Black community of all ages for influencing the large part of today's music

    Particularly the blues

  • @theeardrafter The black man and Frank Zappa

  • And another thing, William Hung is a better singer than Alvin Lee.

  • The first amendment may give you the right to free speech but as many before you have found out it does not protect you from the ramifications of your words. I suggest you go and read about your actual first amendment rights. Particularly the part about hate speech and how it is not protected as well as you seem to think.

  • die (from a middle class white guy :) )

  • allright,Mr Alvin Real Slowhand Lee....

  • DAMN!!!!!!!!!!! The ultimate and he always has been!

  • Now THAT was a guitar lesson.... So cool to see Alvin play slow blues..... Truly one of the greatest ever.... notice the subtle feel involved in his vibrato.... and brilliant call and response phrasing!

  • @MrSevenpillars I mean realey how much better does it get

  • Brilliant!!!

    Grandma Mary

  • Oh, come on with "I'm Going Home" at Woodstock! Listen to TYA's very first album. ALL of it is like that!!!

  • I'm the one that gave everyone a red mrk on their comments.

  • That's because you were given a red mark on your butt by your daddy's gay lover!

  • pffffff q du bonheur

  • Gotta love Alvin's screamin' guitar tone.

    This guy can play guitar!

  • Alvin was super 35 years ago and still is, thanks for sharing

  • Alright now! He puts me in the mind of Muddywaters, Bo Diddly, BB King, and such!

  • mostro

  • 4:00 awesomeeeee playin on the harmonica

  • I can't believe, I just never knew he's so great!

  • watch woodstock im going home

  • Thanks! I'm going to check it out! I always knew this guy was out there but did not realize he still performed and is so great. Hey who put that red - on my comment?!

  • haha i didnt if you are wondering ill change it for you. But yeah if you think this is great Im going Home is his classic iconic performance it will for sure blow your mind.

  • This Blues makes want to have sex...

  • Vintage Alvin-- the impeccable phrasing, the seamless transitions between melodic runs and jazz chording. So sweet! Funny how he turns a "slow" tune into a runaway freight train. Thanks for posting this gem.

  • s...w...e...e...t...as honey...

  • Im a big fan of the blues. And this is defintitly up there with the greats.Rock on Alvin Lee!!
