@mayssssam I'm not sure. The Pogo folks might know if their stylus works on 3M devices. There are some multitouch devices that support a stylus, such as the ones that nTrig makes.
@pavle634 Are you looking to export the meshes? That's possible in obj, xaml, stl, and vrml files. For gaming, I you could probably use SpaceClaim Style, which costs around $1000.
This is some really innovative stuff, but the demo shows some very uncommon situations in CAD modeling. It would have been better to see how to build a wheel axle from scratch using Spaceclaim and multitouch.
I'm glad to see someone in the CAD world doing something innovative.
We wanted to do something fun for the announcement that illustrated using simulation to drive the development of a concept model, which is what SpaceClaim is all about. Expect more real-world examples and more details of how multi-touch works with direct modeling as we get closer to launch.
kinda cool, but kinda pointless. How do you enter real numbers? Clicking on small points like an edge are really difficult. Try clicking on an small icon on the left there. This is a long way from being faster than a mouse.. But really cool. :)
Multi-touch is not a replacement for keyboard and mouse. It's better at selection, view manipulation, and interaction with the UI, but using the popup keyboard to enter dimensions is slower.
Although this video is almost all touch, when I model, I use multitouch to augment my keyboard and mouse. Lay the monitor horizontal above your keyboard and put your mouse to one side. Works great. Mouse with one hand and multi-touch with the other.
I disagree. This example shows nothing useful that can not be done (and is done) faster with a keyboard and a mouse.
I am not sure exactly where multitouch would actually benefit 3d modelling work, but there are areas it could increase productivity.
Maybe HSM is not the best example, but something like MudBox or Zbrush sculpting would, I think, make for a more introspective presentation on the benefits of a multi touch solution within CG creation.
Picture a multi-touch display almost horizontal, right behind your keyboard. You keep your mouse cursor centered on your model. Every time you need to hit a new UI control, you don't move your mouse, you just tap the display like it's a dynamic set of function keys. Your hands are faster than your mouse.
That, and four finger box select changes everything.
I didn't get it until I locked myself in a room with it to make the video. Totally different than what I expected.
would a stylus work on this screen ? like pogo sketch for iphon

I'm sorry, which 3D modelling software is showed in this video? (An AMAZING video!)

It's SpaceClaim, the leading 3D direct modeler. This video was taking from a prototype, but the multi-touch will be available later this fall.

how much would this program cost, and would the models be able to be used for gamin purposes

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I imagine you need a lot of RAM.. otherwise that is pointless.

lol looks like iron man! technology these days is really finally getting more advanced.

@Zeptonater he is building ironman..i guess we will see real iron man soon enough.

Very useful, but ONLY FOR 3D NAVIGATION, when modeling with mouse ...

Very interesting, although it seems to be quite inaccurate :(
AdeonC 2 years ago
it's not about accuracy. you're not modeling a shaft. this is freeform design. there are no numbers to type. it's pure aesthetics.

Uhm... then I am afraid that it's not for me :(

will it work with TUIO? I'd love to use that on my current multitouch tables...

We'll support hardware that has Windows 7 multi-touch drivers.

thanks for the response! much appreciated! your video is super enticing.

And yes, I do model in 3d everyday.
