Holy crap she looks and sounds so... cold. It's like she's the evil vilan in a movie and she saying "Fourty-nine, point one seconds" like she telling her henchmen how long until the super megs death bomb (guarded by sharks with lasers on their heads) will go off AND KILL ALL OF HUMANITY!

  • westfield xtr4?why not caterham r500 or ariel atom?or even sr4?

  • @EVERLIVERPOOL Yes, and why not a Fireblade or R1?

  • @zenzombie72 r500 will win both?

  • Put Plato on the track,,he can run into the bike like he does in the BTCC

  • This car vs bike is always real good fun to watch.

And so are all the comments like it really matters which one goes faster round a track or whatever.

You either like bikes or cars.

No need to put the other choice down!

  • The bike rider isn`t a pro, as the car driver also, so the test was rather balanced. To be more real, think the car must be using street legal tyres, as used the bike.

  • who races on the track with the mirrors still on?

  • Plus the rider is mediocre at best. Put Ben Spies on a race prepped gixxer (modified just to the degree of the car, with slicks, tweaked suspension and worked motor) and watch him lap your ass like you are chained to the ground.

  • Things to note.

    - The suspension of the bike was not altered from the soft as shit factory settings, while the car's was.

    - The bike was on road tires while the car was on slicks.

-The cars motor is heavily modified while the bike was bone stock to the degree that it still had the shitty stock exhaust.

    - the 2009 suzuki gsxr1000, with road tires and stock motor, has lapped tracks faster than some fully prepped race bikes from 2007. In race form it is untouchable.

    - Cars suck.

  • Ignorant comment. Calm down fanboy.

  • those are all facts son.

  • "cars suck" is a fact?

  • is this the same car as dala7?

  • thats a medium to tight and a few fast cornerd track and one of the fastest track cars in the world lol a mv agusta f4 cc proberly would have bin the same as the west feild and kevin smith isnt a pro rider if this rider was jonny rea or something well you never no lol

  • in a flat out straight race the bike would kick the shit out of the car.

  • "Good work fella" ROFL.

  • Are these the GT Lights cathegory you see in the Toca Race Driver 3 Game?

  • its the braking that hurts the bike..or the track..car tracks and bike tracks are not made in same way

  • @Bestever4everSince the catch is. That a good car will do just as good on the bike track, but the bike wont do as well on the car track, as we've seen. The turns on a bike track make it easier to handle a bike, a (good) car would have no problem on a bike track. Bikes have better P/w ratios but cars have the 4 wheels that (should) stay on the ground at all times giving a quick handling advantage to the cars.

  • damn that guy can ride

  • damn that chick can ride :D

  • people don't get it bikes ain't fast as a cars round corners only in straight lines u just can't face the facts that cars are good the same as bikes ...

  • i know its just a fact, the bike only has minimal wings offering minimul increase in downforce and traction, where as the car has much better downforce and grip, but the bike has the advantage in the straight as its much lighter but in a race round most tracks the car would win! i want a Westfield!

  • thats ignorant, saying you shouldnt adjust the suspension on a bike, its not the same as on a car! they are meant to be adjusted to the riders wight or size! its as stupid as saying you shouldnt adjust the seat on your car and must drive it as it comes from the factory! even if you dont reach the pedals properly? its just plain ignorant.

  • ya, I dont ride bikes(motorbikes at least) I used to do downhill biking on full suspension bikes and if you dont have the suspension tuned to your weight and riding conditions its going to dramatically decrease your skills as a rider. I can see how this would dramatically effect the bikes performance and these records are useless imo.

  • I'd like to see this with a 1098r definately. I rekon if the 999 was the R model then it would have bested the gixxer. Goes to show with all that extra power and light weight, he could only get 10th of a second difference. The lap time difference between the gsxr1000 and the standard 999 is very small. I expect your all agree, I would like to see valentino rossi on the bikes and with suspension set for him. Who rekons he could beat the car ? Bring it on fifth gear. lol

  • really good clip but what a rip off of top gear i mean could'nt they have been a bit more original

  • the girl needs to shut up and drive properly

  • Indeed

  • drive better then u lmfao

  • c'mon. let's someone who knows how to drive, drive the XTR. i wonder is she a butcher? a luberjack? heloooooooo???!? it's a disaster how she drives (was that driving?) that XTR. this car is about to be driven with fingertips and razorsharp. i think, someone shoud tell this 5th gear amateurs that drifting is neither attractive, netiher fast.

  • Try looking her up on Wikipedia. She began racing when she was 12, and is currently a racing instructor at Silverstone. And as for 5th Gear being amateurs, Tiff has raced in F1 and Jason is a BTCC champion. How well would you do?

  • no argument on tiff and jason. respect for both. she? having a father and a grandfather both racers, doesn't make her a racer. indeed she does have a C ntl licence and she is an instructor, athough that still doesn't make her a good driver. competitive race wins makes a good driver. her results?

how well would i do? not much but, with eight national karing titles, 3 national hillclimb titles, few victories in european races, a bit better? she might be cute to some, but that's all. period.

  • ducati 1098 r blows. you can do up a gixxer 1000 to be way better then a 1098r and the gixxer would still cost less and be much more realiable. my good friend has a 749r and every 5 track days it has to have major motor work done and it cost big money

  • blows? Come on mate, it IS expensive but its a great bike! Reliability wise, apparently the new 8s are much better than the old 9s (ref: BIKE Magazine). You're right about the G1k being quicker though when its modded

  • she cant fucking drive she that car all over the place

  • she cant fucking drive?

have you ever driven one of those?

the skills it takes to keep it from skitching it unberlievable and i thought she did apsolutely amasing!

  • Meet the 1098R!

  • thats why i'm driving westfield

  • I just wonder what needs the most skilled pilot to do this time on this cicuit.

  • A motorcycle drifting is so sexy!

  • that dude is stupid F1 is amazing, what would he rather watch baseball or a circle track even more boring

  • "It has a beautiful balanced chasis"....I bet her ass is pretty nice too!

  • F1 rules. and also all of you rednecks are nothing but idiots.

  • lol f1 is the most boring load of shit ever....the commentator gets excited when they stop and put some petrol in the fukin things

  • Bikes are cooler anyway. That car looks like a piece of crap. Also, how many people can actually afford to get a car that is anywhere near a bike? I also like they use a car built for the track and a stock road bike. And the rider is pretty crap. Having problems keeping the front end down? haha MotoGP? Oh and F1 sucks and is for old men and people who dont mind watching the most boring shite ever.

  • It is stupid to complain that the track was wrong or the suspension was wrong. They didn't fettle with the car. So why should the bike be treaten differently? That woman wouldn't beat Fernando Alonso ever. The bike is also a lot more uncomfortable. And the leather suit.. very stylish :D . You don't need a leather suit when driving a car. You don't even have to use a crash helmet. Cars are simply better.

  • the thing is, the GSX-R1000 as with all bikes comes from the factory with a suspension that "CAN" be adjusted. It's not like you are cheating by adjusting the suspension, especially when it's something that comes stock from the factory. Most bikes are factory set to 150lb riders. Which most people aren't the ideal 150lb rider.

  • that woman could probably beat fernando alonso, so shut up!

  • It goes to show how good bikes really are. The car is roughly $50k US dollars, and the bike is around $11.5kUSD. The bike should have been able to adjust suspension. My GSX-R1000K2 is fairly dialed in and I've done many track days. I can say most cars modified or stock wouldn't be able to hang with even my bike which is lightly modified and has stock suspension. Suspension being dialed is means everything..

  • One other thing to bear in mind is that Anglesey track is very short and twisty, and the cars extra grip and downforce will work for it on such a short track, a proper track where a bike can stretch its legs properly, and the result would be different. Its also worth noticing that the bikes were top of the leaderboard until they posted the westfields time, and there was some exotic machinery in the list (if you watch the show regularly)

  • Oh hear hear fella, very good points. Longer track with a few good straights and the westfield would be beaten. Good work to the GSXR considering the track was well suited to the car.

  • I think most of us agree (including the presenters) that this is not entirely fair. Race prep that gixxer and things would be different.

However don't assume Kev Smith is just some hack! He was rear wheel steering before I ever saw it at WSB, the man knows his stuff!

  • Cars ultimately have more potential to go faster due to more contact patch and aerodynamics, but I'm just saying that the test was a bit biased.

  • Agreed, at the end of the day bikes are cheaper to go faster, i paid £600 for a beaten up old GSX750F to do 145mph, your gonna have to a lot more for a car to do that, unless your bloody lucky!

  • "Pay alot more" sorry.

  • the lap record at anglesey for a thousand cc bike is 45 seconds . and poor vic recond that the bike wouldnt get close even if he fiddled the suspention.STUPID WOMAN. Put a local rider on the bike in future!

  • Evry biker fettles with his suspension There are perhaps half a dozen different preload and rebound settings on evry superbike. So the biker should have been allowed to fettle with his suspension to go a second or so quicker

  • 80% car,20% Driver. Bike 20%,Rider 80% Yes! put any GP Rider on that bike and corner speeds, would become much faster, faster than the car, straitline, Gixxer k5 got enough of that already, few mods to the bike= goodbye to any car

  • i agree with you

  • They try their best to find a car that beats a bike around a track. Sounds like penis envy!

  • See This isnt eaxctly fair.. that westfield is basicly a racing car with headlights to make it "road legal", (the UK has more lax requirements alowing these types of cars... IE westfield and Radical to be road legal). And thats up aganst a street bike... I think in order for this test to be far is should be up aganst a racing bike.... somthing like a Honda RS250R ... or any racing bike.... because just like the westfield racing bikes can be made road legal with minor modification.

  • get rossi down here he would show that crap car a fast lap!!!

  • exactly the comment I was going to write. I guess I'm about a month and a day late. Rossi would own that p.o.s.
