  • This show's IQ^2=1/(common sense)

Nobody respectable enganges in these kinds of talks. Don't hurt other people and get on with your lives. Extend that to Nature and all living beings and your chance for paradise should be about 99% regardless of your religion, you might not even have to die...

  • So Dawkins believes that there maybe leprechauns & his supporters all clapped.

Well folks, you heard it straight from the horses mouth. No editing here. Reason & rationality? OKaaaaay. He also believes that there may be little green men from outer space. This is the same guy who says children should not be indoctrinated into their parents beliefs, yet he supports & has even sponsors Camp Quest, an atheist camp for children as young as 8 years old. No wonder why he refuses to debate Craig.

  • @benthemiester He's obsessed with Leprechauns

  • How is Atheism the new fundamentalism? What do atheist do? Write insulting comments on youtube and various forums, I take that fundamentalism any day over the cutting off heads kind fundamentalism! Where is the moral equivalence? Writing and debating is in no way equivalent to those who use violence.

  • @annata12 You conveniently forget the burning of flags and the threats of beheading to all those who depict Dawkins! Oh wait...that does not hap...you sir pose irrelevant questions you must be a fundamentalist!

  • @annata12 "I take that fundamentalism any day over the cutting off heads kind fundamentalism!"

Does this include the atheist fundamentalism of Joseph Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Pol Pot, 1945 Albania, or the French revolution when all these countries adopted State atheism & collectively slaughtered and persecuted tens of millions of religious people in a few short years? Tell me when have atheist been hunted down and slaughtered in even a fraction of those numbers by theist?

  • @benthemiester

You are making a categorical error Atheism like Theism are just 2 positions on one question. It's religions and ideologies that fill those categories with beliefs and tenets that you can be fundamental about! Please spare me your pitiful attempt of equating Atheism with Stalinism and Maoism and i won't throw you in with everything Theist's did, which would include all religion not just your own

  • @annata12 You said that you were willing to accept atheist fundamentalism over religious fundamentalism.

Atheism can be just as religious as any other religious belief including seeking fellowship, ceremonial services & dogmas, etc. My point is that atheist can be just as extreme, whether we're speaking of Stalin, 1945 Albania or the French Revolution when they successfully proclaimed an atheist state. Historically speaking this type of fundamentalism is much more deadly & this is my point.

  • @benthemiester Theism and Atheism are not religions, Atheist can have different ideologies and even religions but that's not atheism. The fundamental atheism discussed in this debate was trying to make a false equivalency between atheistic ideologies and atheism, which would be the same as blaming theism for what christianity teaches. Yes Atheists can hold all kinds of ideas and ideologies, just like thereare thousands of different religions under Theism.

  • @annata12 Comparing Atheism to religion is just a false comparison. You can compare different ideologies with religions. There is no fundamental Atheism it doesn't make sense, just like fundamental Theism doesn't make sense.

  • @benthemiester I don't know which comment you're referring to, i do not edit the comments people leave me, since i do not care i only watch video and do not maintain my channel! This was the first time i actually looked at my channel and did not find that comment! I

  • @annata12 Let me give you an example. In response to something you said.....

"A marvelous idea. We must create bus pools of Christian Fundamentalists to drive into the tornadoes and be Raptured into heaven" Mwahahahaha !

This message you received from a fellow atheist is from your own page and sets a perfect example for the point I'm trying to convey, and this is actually pretty mild compared to many responses I hear from people. Not sure what you said, but he obviously agrees with you.

  • I hear Richard Harries will be talking live at a big debate held by these people again - intelligence squared - on assisted suicide - this November in London. He seems a very thoughtful and interesting man. No Dawkins this time though!

  • STFU disabled guy

  • philosophers are generally completely full of shit. it is a most disreputable way to make a name for oneself...

  • Kind of a shame that the mediator broke that up. That looked like it could have gotten quite interesting.

  • 7:22 - What a retort!

  • 7:28 HAHAHAHA no your objection is ridiculous. Do I sense OFFENSE?

  • I hate to say it, but that was my favorite part of the whole debate! ^^

And I'm ashamed of saying that, because it is a great disservice to the remarkable things that were said during the debate by Dawkins and Grayling.

  • 6:40 "statement of faith" would you STFU???

  • 4:15 is this guy serious? I DEMAND YOU FOLLOW THE DICTATES OF THE TROLLS UNDER THE BRIDGE. Which includes paying them--through me-- a handsome toll everytime you cross.

  • 0:25 Half the world is watching them on the live feed. No seriously-- he said it so it must be true.

  • Ha now it is getting funny :)

  • what would you say if you saw a lepricon?

    I would try to immitate an irish accent and say;

    hello

  • you guys posted two videos as 6 out of 12, rather confusing...

  • Rather lame debate topic.

The woman at 4:00 quoted a philosopher quoting another philosopher quoting another philosopher. Awesome.

  • If I may, why do you find the motion of this debate to be lame? I assume, though you'll correct me if it isn't the case, that it's because you believe the answer is obvious.

Would you please care to explain?

    Thank you for your time.

  • The topic is entirely a topic of definition, not of ideology. Fundamentalism, as some of the speakers mentioned, means different things to different people. The atheists will simply say it's clutching to spirituality beyond most reasonable limits and the theists will say it's the belief in certain principles as being inherently true or false. Both are correct, in their own way, so neither clash with the other. Ultimately, it's just a forum to ask the panalists random questions.
