Hi Kristian, I enjoy all your videos. Keep up the great work. You are indeed talented. I did this peice at uni back in the 80's. It's a good one, but not easy to bring off. You have done well!
This has inspired me to want to play this piece! I was listening with the score in front of me and it's amazing how accurate you were without looking at the notes yourself. Bravo!
Mr. Cvetkovic, I came across this recording of yours on Wikipedia while looking for Hoboken numbers to be able to recommend this sonata to a friend of mine; and as I listened to your recording, I thought, "This performance is more beautiful than any commercial one I have come across;" so I clicked on "more info" and was astounded to find out that you're still a young man! I'm a professionally trained classical pianist, and I know what I'm talking about--good luck to you!
I love this piece. Haydn was such a cheerful person and a practical joker which is reflected at 4:45 when the piece seemingly ends. Anyway, i think you played it brilliantly and with maturity. well done.
Music IS visual. People will be watching you perform, not just listening. How you move your head, hands, and body can convey even more suspense, emotion, and sincerity than your playing alone.
compuryan123 I have to agree with you. Music is really visual too. Think about for example rock concerts? What would that look like if they just standing still? Performer's movements stimulate watcher's brain whatever you wanted it or not. Always too much is too much (Lang Lang sometimes).
I agree with toomash. You can move your body however you want. It doesn't make the music any more expressive. That's why rock bands have those big shows. The music isn't particularly expressive. Besides, the guy's sitting in his house...by himself. It's not really important how he moves around.
It really depends on your teacher. I don't move around a lot, but I do exude expression. I mean, if I have a cheesy grin on my face and I'm playing a funeral march, it might freak some people out. Also if I happen to be doing a really exciting and cheerful piece (like a scherzo) but I just sit there looking bored...I'm sure that's enough to lose a competition.
@MaritaValdez - I know the point you're TRYING to make and forums like this are not conducive to what you're saying. And did I miss something - was this kid prepping for a competition? This is NOT a master class and if it were, I've never heard of you having done my M.MUS at Juilliard and my D.M.A. at Michigan and wouldn't give much credibility to what you're saying. The kid is good, he's got work to do, now let it go at that. Now why don't you re-state your point and this time clean it up?
@MaritaValdez - Oh, and what look would you have on your face playing the Marche Funebre from the Bb minor sonata of Chopin, the Bb minor SCHERZO also of Chopin, then the E minor scherzo of Mendelssohn? Just curious.
A performance of considerable beauty and maturity. You seem to have a real understanding of this musical period. For me, in this and in the Beethoven, you show your greatest promise. Keep up the excellent work!
we want the last movement now?!? have you learned it yet?? Bravo - i know how difficult this is. Watch out if you do this for a grade 8 its a tough one to hold together under pressure.
Overall Excellent playing, I appreciate the long hours that must have been put into this piece, you're very good for your age. All the techniques were carefully played correctly and everything was very accurate. However I would like to say to watch your pacing when you play the long notes. I know one has the urge to play it slightly slower when you get to the long notes but keep the pulse going. Good luck with your career
A great pleasure watching you play, Kristian. I have a Bosendorfer, and you are welcome to play on it any time! Is your room climate-controled? Some notes on your Steinway seemed a little out of tune. Best wishes for your career.
Your playing is truly phenomenal! At this point, that 1/100 success ratio is looking very good for you! I wouldn't worry as much about that than just having fun! Continue to play always what you love!
you should make a video showing how to play this

More body language. Move your body more to show that you are interested in this piece.
gguo96 4 years ago
Music is not about moving your body. The only part that matters is what you play and how you show how you feel THROUGH YOUR PLAYING.

@toomash body movement becomes more important in chamber and ensemble music
Your point still holds though.
