In My Opinion, this is a very effective ad and not fear mongering. It is done in a very different way than the Reagan and Bush ads of 84 and 2004 which were approached from an overtly fear mongering direction.

The question is one of how do you conduct yourself given the current situation. You know what has happened and what may happen still. You have a classroom full of children fixated on you, there is nothing more you can do by charging out of the room yelling "We're under attack!" than you can do by sitting calmly, knowing that the military mechanism is trying its best to deal with the situation.
It's called leadership.....you obviously don't know what that entails.

Get serious, Bush could have excused himself within a minute or two. The point is he had absolutely no idea of the scale of the attack, it could have been a prelude to WW III.
There could have been a dozen planes descending on American cities. And the military needed the president's approval to shoot them down. This is nothing you leave to the Vice President unless you're incapacitated.
But then again, I wouldn't expect more from a draft dodger.

The red-phone question is important for voters to consider. To call it fear mongering seems like saying voters are frail and should be protected from thinking about this. I doubt voters are too afraid to give it due consideration.

I remember Bush & Cheney campaignin in 04; I remember Cheney saying, "terrorist attacks are being planned right now!" and Bush saying/shouting "DON'T STOP THINKING OF TERROR", bobbing his head forward as he said "terror". Terrorism is an issue but we should be telling terrorists to KISS OUR ASSES! I remember on News shortly after 9/11 Bin Laden saying he wants us to live in fear! In terms of the latter I find ads like this pandering to that fear. Are those color-coded threat levels still in use?

In My Opinion, this is a very effective ad and not fear mongering. It is done in a very different way than the Reagan and Bush ads of 84 and 2004 which were approached from an overtly fear mongering direction.
