This is so funny. The following Sunday on CBS NFL Today Show they showed the clear as day HD picture of Holmes catching the ball up by his face over the plane both feet down and put the issue to rest. Marino, Cowher, James all of America saw it and it was settled. But CBS doesn't have the picture anywhere on the net it seems. If you didn't see the show it's like you missed out on seeing a UFO. LOL
lol i remember seeing this replay with my former roommate. he's not a fan of either team (vikings follower) and (having played football himself) he was rather disgusted. myself i couldnt tell because it was so close
i played ootball in high school... not sure that really make me an expert. i have learned a lot more about football after my playing days. anyway, i've said it before and i'll say it again... i thought it looked like a TD to me.
The call on the field was TD and based on the replay you can't overturn the call... if it had been ruled no TD, based on the replay you can't overturn the call...
my initial thought was that it was a touchdown. but after seeing the replay being analyzed i wasnt certain. all though i guess i was leaning more towards that he scored haha
in real time, i thought it was a TD. however, on the replay it is really hard to tell either way... and the rules are that when you can't tell, the ruling on the field stands. if it is hard to tell on the replay, imagine how hard it was for the refs to mak the right call at full speed.
let's get realistic... if you even make an attempt at objectivity, there is not conclusive proof to overturn the TD call on the field. if the refs had ruled him short of a TD on the field, there is not conclusive proof to overturn that ruling either.
yea exactlly, i mean it was a great game, i jsut hate it when games end on judgement calls like that, i think if it would have been put on the 2 inch line, we would have seen a great battle though, kinda mad we never saw that, who really wanted it more
this makes sense, im a ravens fan and feel liek we got hosed on that call, but also understand that the game wasnt over witht that stop. and every steelers fan i talked to about this basically stated im blaiming the refs for the loss, im glad to see not all steeler fans act this way and im hoping for a great game sunday
yeah, i thought it was a TD... but i can see where it's controversial. i would be relatively aggitated if the steelers had lost a game involving a similar call at the end. so i don't blame ravens fans for being upset. i just don't think it is fair to say that the refs gave the game to the steelers.
I am a huge Ravens fan and i agree with you 100% on everything you said. The steelers had many possible ways to win that game even if they called it 2 inches from the goal line. I'm just lookin foward to a great rematch!
just to set you straight...i hate both teams and neither will be in the superbowl. It does not matter it it was a touchdown or not. There has to be indisputable evidence to overturn a call in the NFL. The ref's said it was not a touchdown at first. There was no such evidence. So it was NOT a touchdown. the refs screwed up.
ah, but the NFL backed up the call... not to mention the pre-game show this afternoon analyzed and enhanced the tape... they say it was a TD too... sorry, but you're wrong.
Bro...i am not arguing if it was a touchdown or not...i agree it was....but an official change a ruling on the field without indisputable evidence. At the time of the ruling they did not have enough evidence to change the ruling. The refs messed up. The steelers would have scored on the next play anyways. The Ravens should have never let themselves get into that situation. You are correct in what you are saying about the touchdown. I am talking about the technical rule.
we also don't know what angles the referee had available to him that the general viewing public didn't... i admit my steelers bias, but it looked like the ball broke the plane to me... some people felt it wasn't "conclusive", which you seem to lean towards... i think it was. i thought it was a TD in real time, and i thought it was a TD on the replay.
I'm a Ravens fan and i think like you said .. there wasnt enough indisputable evidence to overturn the call but even if it went into overtime there woulda been a 50/50 chance for each team to win since the team that wins the toss in ot wins 90pct of the time.. all i know is that this was a great game with some big hits and some of the best defense i've ever seen .. these two teams just seem to push each other to an elite level of play and i love it !!!
i enjoy the ravens/steelers rivalry a lot. i personally think it was a TD. i can see why people say the evidence was inconclusive, because it was SO CLOSE either way. i thought it looked like a TD... but i'm a steelers fan, so don't expect myopinion on it to be free from bias... it was a great game... i really hope we don't see the ravens in the playoffs... beating you guys twice was hard enough, i think a third time would be nearly impossible.
I hate the steelers so mabye there is a steelers hate biast in this but that deffinetly was not a touchdown and almost every damn show on nfl network agrees, also considering that stat was takin away from holmes shows that the nfl reversed the call. Though i cant wait for the rematch in the afc championship if the ravens and steelers get there.
the stat was not taken away, where do you get your information? also, the nfl sais publicly they backed the call. and i don't get nfl network, so i can't speak to their network, but CBS said they got the call right. i believe it is controversial, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a TD...
diehard pats fan here who hates the steelers. well said & explained. bad calls happen all the time, the pats have benefitted from them many times. that's just how it goes.
