Despite aligning them on my halogens, I still get more 'brights flash' rebuke from that than my xenons. I used to get it on the xenons every damn day until the rest of the world had them...
@capitalistpigdogus I still get the people that just don't turn their brights off when they pass me with my Xenons. I was talking to a friend the other day about my car and mentioned the Xenon's and got a response of "You're one of those people with the annoying lights!?!" from her. lol. I like the Xenon's.
I just got an 02 9-5 ARC. it doesnt have Xenons but why do they dip everytime you start the car ? Ive seen others that do that but i never knew why. Do they turn when you turn the wheel too ? And my 9-5 is without xenons, but the headlights have become very foggy on the glass part of them, why is this and how can i get ride of it ?
Well congrats on your new Saab. They dip due to the auto leveling system, I believe its testing the system. This system keeps the lights straight when you have a heavy load in the back. They do not turn with the wheel for the 9-5 but I believe the Aero 9-3 does. The "fog" on the lights is an oxidation and can be removed using special rubbing compounds.
@jrodigan5 I was under the impression that the lights do turn with the wheel, at least, that is what I thought I have seen with my friend's 05 9-5 Arc
I use Miguires Plastix to prevent the oxidation on my lights, but if it has already started you may need a buffer along with the rubbing compound to remove it.
Okay, I noticed your car does the classic Saab *tweet* when you locked it, how did you get it to do that? My friend has a fully loaded '05 9-5 and we are dying to get that classic sound going again. Is it somewhere in the SID settings?
Unfortunately, you cannot change the settings through the SID. He will need to take it to a Saab dealer and have activated. There are quite a few things you can have changed, alarm settings, number of blinks of the lights when locking/unlocking, and so on. Tell them to see page 271 in his owners manual, it should be there. My guess would be that this may cost around $50-$100, depending how much your dealer charges for labor. Or if they would even charge them at all.
Just tell them to take it to an authorized Saab dealer and just tell them he wants it to chirp (or "tweet") when he locks and unlocks it. And they should be able to do it.
Great, thanks for the comments. Right now I'm considering a 2006, and I assume that it will stiill have the same abilities. It seems really odd to me that SAAB would install the part, and then by default disable it.
I would assume the 2005's will do it. Mine is an '03 and I know for sure that the '04's do. Did your friend buy their '05 new or used? If they got it used, the previous owner probably didn't like it and had it disabled. I believe the '06 will do it too, but I'm not completely positive.
These are the stock lights. These lights are very expensive, $700-$800 each. If you don't have Xenon lights on your car now, I would suggest a Xenon conversion kit. You can get those Ebay and stuff. They usually cost around $50-$70. Sorry if that didn't help any. I would just search the internet for them.
We have a 1991 red Saab 900 Convertible, and tried the headlight wipers today. I have to say it made me laugh. Very sweet :)

@EChid The newer ones might then. Mine doesn't though. I wish they did!

@liamseanking23 the lights are plastic, not glass. As jrodigan5 said, use maguires plastx on them

They actually deleted the alarm siren halfway through MY04. My early 2004 still has it but late 2004's and all 2005's do not.

Hello.
What color code have your headlights? Is it standard 4300K?
nanki012 2 years ago
I believe they are just the standard color. They look a lot more white in person, they look more blue in the video.
