why does the head of the laser come up then go back down when it finishes a cut and before it starts the next cut?

Att 0;55 it shows the chiller, used like a large radiator to cool the laser (in this case looks like a Synrad firestar)

At 0;59 it's doing a map of the surface, which it then translates to the program to ensure distance of focus to workpiece remains consistent.
