  • Rest in Peace David Bedford, who died in October 2011. I was the solo voice on this song, very young at the time, and I still love it.

  • I love this, 6 and half minutes of perfect chill... I have to admit, I've never understood the title, unless it's referring to the Brazilian city Rio Grande.

  • Muchas gracias, em encanta! Inspira mucha paz!

  • I need it...thx

  • Love the Schubert Ave Maria accompaniment! So clever!

  • Beautiful music, thanks bro

  • Lovely pictures to go with incomparable music.

It's "bound for" the old country, not that that really matters.

  • Possibly the most underated song ever.

    Magnificent.

  • Oh man that guitar is just so heavenly it completes the song to a perfection. and If Mike Oldfield had a hammered wood pile for an instrument, he could play a song with it that would make beethoven cry tears of joy, it would be that good.

  • One of the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.

  • @truinfini, agreed: Oldfield plays piano as Chuck Norris

  • So what if it's Bedford? I f he wants the piano to sound like a hammered woodpile, he gets it. Much of what I've heard of Bedford's music (think of the concert for kazoo, for instance) is not beautifiul and smooth playing, either, but this is clearly intended to sound nicely, as most of the readers have stated. And keep it cool, smujio.

  • I haven't liked Oldfield for a long time, yet this simple, childish song came beating down my mind for almost the same time. It's a shame Oldfield simply can't play piano; otherwise it would have been a lot greater -and it still is.

  • @CarlesCanals its david bedford on piano and its meant to be played like this...get your fact correc t before you criticise...you are an idiot

  • @CarlesCanals Mike Oldfield can't play the piano??? that's just like saying Chuck Norris does not know any form of martial art.

Mike can play ANYTHING. nuff said.

  • THANKS FOR THE MUSIC

  • This is such a joyful song it makes the heart swell!

  • Yes, this is certainly a blast from the past: I still have the Boxed version of Mike's first albums, including this track.

  • Oh yes, and Queens College Choir. :)
