  • this is my new favourite husker du song.

  • Given the number of outtakes from this mythic album, there was enough place for a third disc!

  • intro ripped from disorder by joy division

  • This is better than a lot of the songs on 'Zen Arcade'- don't know why it was left out of the album.

  • i read bob say somewhere in so many words that the content of the lyrics didn't fit the album. it is a great song though.

  • no way

  • @rorymetz Yeah it definitely isn't as bleak as the rest of the record and doesn't go with the apparently 'concept' of the album.

  • it's seem so real

  • if you wanna get this and other unreleased husker du stuff:

    somethingilearned dot c0m

please don't mark this as spam

  • in my desert island top ten discs - zen arcade should be reissued. New punkpop / emo bands should bow down on their knees to husker du and lick their genitals in hope of becoming their rodies.

  • well, at least they've got practice doing the genital licking bit...

    :P

  • man i really want this album to be reissued

  • To Me Husker Du were just a really powerful rock'n'roll band that should'nt have to be labelled. They were genuinely unique and great and that rises above all the other tags peolple always like to put on music.

  • this sounds almost like a ramones song

  • Yeah. I think that's a good thing... Loved the rest of Zen Arcade too tho...

  • wow, this is some pretty amazing stuff. thanks for posting.

  • lyrics?

  • rare stuff...

  • search 'more war zen arcade' if you like this you love it!

  • Emo = Bullshit. Ignore it and hopefully it will go away.

  • @HUSKERchout what are you talking about? it went away over 20 years ago

  • Y'know some people label them as being the forefathers of emo. Though, it's an either and insult or compliment depending which form of emo your talking about. If you're talking about the original form that took place 20-15 years ago mainly in the DC era, then it's a compliment. However, if you're referring to the emo of today: whiny, pale boys in eyeliner, then I'll smack you into next Tuesday.

  • ha i see wut u mean about DC rites of spring, embrace, even fugazi i don't like to call it emo call it art punk and yes husker du is definatly one of the forefathers

  • "I must say emo must be the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard in my entire life. But just in case you are wondering, I read in my Thrasher the other day, that in fact, what my band along with other bands in this city are playing is emocore. I'm thinking Emo Phillips, the comedian, emo? Emotional hardcore?? As if hardcore wasn't emotional to begin with. Anyway, it's caca. I hate to say it but you can only hold your silence for too long about this stupid shit." - ian mackaye, rites of spring

  • this was actually when he was in Embrace...saw the video of this spiel up here a while back...I had no idea the 'emo' term dated to 1986.

  • @HUSKERchout "Emo" has gone from referring to "emotional hardcore" to being a generalized insult for any music that someone dislikes.

  • Ian Mackaye wasn't in Rites of Spring.

  • LOL yeah I noticed that too.

  • smack you into next Tuesday? is that a name of one of the whiney emo bands of today you are referring too?? lol!! joke

  • hahaha your funny

  • thanks mate!!! thinkin of goin into standup comedy with my routines!!

  • Please don't
