Imagine if this had been live action, would've been pretty sweet. Though there's already a gratuitous amount of violence in this and the movie. Snyder basically turned the movie into gore porn.
@Big12189 hed make sure his name was attached to it so he could get the money and all but i dont think hed write it, because he doesnt believe in writing movies for hollywood or something, yeah alan moores weird like that
@DrOmega He removed his name from Watchmen due to his bad experiences with Hollywood adaptions of his work, and will continue to do do. It's not weird at all considering every one of them have been botched to some degree. He does not have control over the finished product and consequently does not want his name attached. I don't even care about him or comic books at large, but I think his position is perfectly understandable for a man who takes pride in his work
@eirikwegga Exactly, a true master writer does not write to be greedy with money but to get a masterpiece done for the ages. That is the reason many franchises fail, specially horror, they create films for the sake of the money but they lack the soul of the writer and the dedication.
@WilliamGarland Would you agree? That's just my opinion. I always found that the transitions between the core story to the BF bits was always on key and always related. They did not try to hide it very much. It was a lot harder to see this in the movie, especially since they really cut down on the psychologist's contribution to the story.
I have actually never seen the ultimate edition, only heard it had been released, so I can't comment myself how it compares. That said I think black freighter one most of the more ilusive aspects of the comics, its whole meaning isn't clear until the second or third readthrough. That said black freighter is proabaly, in my opinion, one of the more logical things to cut from the film version. It adds a layer to the story but isn't critical to the plot.
this was the part i enjoyed the most in the watchman graphic novel, too bad it didnt make the film

It would be cool if this was an actual animated miniseries, with other stories. I can imagine Alan Moore writing for it.

Zack Snyder (director, "300") wanted this to be live-action (couldn't secure the funding at the time believe).
But can you imagine...

They are releasing a longer cut of the film which intersperses the animated segments into the film, called the ultimate cut.

@WilliamGarland I know, I own it. The parallel is still a lot clearer in the comics.
